One more example of how and why we can not believe anything that government tell us anymore. They are no more trustworthy than the Kochs and the rest of the criminally militant corporate and banking cartels."WikiLeaks documents show American officials working with the tar sands companies to develop a strategy to "spin" reporters and win favorable press coverage. Still -- the ultimate decision will rest with President Obama."

america does not want to be dependent on mideast oil, canada is friendly no brainer, you had to see this coming 5 billion miles away.
Anyway id like to play the role of outraged environmentalist but as a albertan who benefits from the oil patch id just be a hypocrite, good luck with your campaign though.

GENERALNATTY:
GENERAL, I appreciate your position. However, it is indisputable that developing new fossil fuel sources will not only stall alternative, clean, and renewable energy source development, but continue to poison the air, land, and water, and contribute to premature deaths and exacerbated illnesses until then, as well as negatively impacting a rapidly and dramatically increasing climate of natural disasters, which are affecting Canadians as well.

"The really dangerous American fascist... is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power... They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective, toward which all their deceit is directed, is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.
Henry A. Wallace "quoted in the New York Times, April 9, 1944

Jan, I do believe they are soliciting domestic eco terrorist attacks on that line if they do, and if it happens in a containable fashion, the oilists would so deserve it.
But it's the outrageousness of government officials conspiring to distort facts that is the most egregious, don't you think?

And yes we have to keep fighting. They just did this yesterday, so I have no doubt they would approve this XL pipeline as well. - 1 year ago

Regarding the Keystone pipeline,Transcanada predicted one spill in seven years. It had eleven spills in one year. Transcanada is also bullying American landowners with eminant domain, and this XL project will threaten the Ogallala Aquifer, one of the largest sources of fossil water in the world though it is now shrinking due to drought and overconsumption. Building this pipeline is INSANITY and simply cannot be allowed.

Well, if we don't get the national referendum vote to undo all of this bullshit before it commences, then perhaps the eco ops will have at it. I wonder if Anonymous can screw with their systems perpetually?

Dear Mr. President,
We at Current.Com want to know why, instead of making alternative, clean, and sustainable energy a national emergency priority, why is your office participating in this filthy environmentally destructive objective? While you may be getting paid big off shore sums to sneak this in under the people's noses, or behind their backs, where will you go with your bribes when the earth no longer sustains life?

Excellent - I hope you send it. The pipeline runs from northern Alberta to the refineries in Port Arthur, Texas - how many leaks can we predict each year? Please promise me you'll ask him that too. We're fighting it north of '49th and will keep on.

Obama is too afraid of being labeled an "enemy of business" or "working against American oil production" to do much more then give a stern warning to the corporations to "do it safely"..........

Sickening. The Cdn Minister of Environment met with Hilary Clinton yesterday; he is PUSHING hard for this. He's a pushy pain-in-the ass anyway, but now more than ever. Apparently, it was s'posed to be approve late last year. Our late news yesterday said that Clinton told him "it's still being studied" which means the environmental groups are bringing heavy pressure to the issue. Keep fighting it, it's filthy dirty stinky oil, the worst. Syncrude and Suncor are the chief offenders; they've" slashed the earth's crust from horizon to horizon," as viewed by James Cameron (Director, former Cdn) on a fly-over. In doing so, they've destroyed thousands of sq. miles of Canada's Boreal Forest. And it's almost all Native owned lands, co-opted for the mineral rights. They are determined to get this leaky pipline going. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT this, then fight some more and LOUDER.
