Tea party leader compares Wisconsin liberals to Nazi stormtroopers

Wisconsin's political turmoil continues, and with the August 9 recall elections of six Republican state senators just days away, the rhetoric is hotter than ever.
At a recent state fair, many progressive activists showed up wearing red shirts to protest Gov. Scott Walker (R). Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips, in town to support the conservatives on the electoral chopping block, compared their presence to revolutionaries of a different era: Nazis.
"The Wisconsin Red shirts, the left's modern version of Brown shirts, were there to shout Walker down and generally ruin the fair for as many people as they could," he wrote on his blog on Tea Party Nation, according to Mother Jones. (Tea Party Nation is a membership-only site.)
"Brownshirts" is another name for the Nazi stormtroopers who were instrumental in Adolf Hitler's rise to power in the 1920s and 30s, so named for their brown uniforms.

Another tea bagger that doesn't understand the constitution or how a democracy works.
The people have spoken in WI and recall elections will take place.. that's how democracy works. Nothing Nazi like about it.Also, you would think that this tea bagger wouldn't have a problem with people protesting.. that is what they did over and over again. I guess when tea baggers do it - it's a right, a privilege, their civic freaking duty. When the left does it - they are "brown shirts"

""Brownshirts" is another name for the Nazi stormtroopers "?
No,the "Brownshirts" Were the SA, street thugs that supported the NAZI rise to power. More like the T-Party, actually. The "Storm Troopers" were the SS (Black shirts) especially the Waffen SS which were battle troops but superior in authority to the regular army (Das Heer). The SS were Party troops and personally loyal to Hitler. But In Italy after WW I "blackshirts" first refers to the para military Fascist party troops of Mussolini who more or less invented Fascism..
Spanish and British Fascists were also called "Black Shirts".
The "Red Shirts": are associated with the Italian independence movement and refers to Garibaldi's volunteer force (Socialist) that was so critical to it's success.Patriots all!
And for a Corporatist tool like Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips to call labor protests "Fascist" or "NAZI" either indicates stupidity or an attempt to divert application of the epithet from himself or his organization.!
The "Greenshirts" were paramilitary fascist Iron Guard members in Romania,
while the "Silver Shirts" was an American fascist organization founded by William Dudley Pelley on January 30, 1933.I wish people would not make up new definitions for old terms, it dilutes your gravitas considerably!

Shouting during a speech isn't as bad as burning down the dem headquarters. There is no proof the fire was arson ... yet. If proved the thugs had something to do with it, it would show just which side looks more like nazi stormtroopers.

Oh I see now. If the Members of the Tea Party have an opinion then it is patriotic. If anyone else has a differing opinion then they are Nazis. I am SOOO glad that Mr. Phillips cleared that up. Note to Mr. Phillips and his fellow Tea party members: Crack the history books and learn about the founding principals of this country. What...OH! you have and freedom of speach only applies to the true patriots. The members of the Tea Party. Sorry my bad. What was I thinking. Voted this up KB.

Honestly, I was thinking that he was going to compare the red shirts to Communistic propaganda. What he said was a tad bit worse. I try not to pick a political label since my beliefs range on all the spectrum of the U.S.A.'s political parties. There are rotten assholes on all sides, but the ones making the majority of the popular media mainstream are Republican/Tea Party members being general assholes. I'm sure there are Liberal/Democratic assholes but they don't mention it a lot.
There are a lot of positive results that are products of both Conservative and Liberal ideas. But a lot of (loud and annoying) Republicans are willing to forget the positive products coming from Liberals. Nothing is perfect. This country still has a lot of ways to go. I just hope that it doesn't burn like the other seemingly democratic cities and countries of the past.

Maybe you all better view the tapes of the "small race riot" (I would call them "attacks") we had outside of the Wisconsin State Fair park last Thursday evening. I'm sure it made national news. Hell, it didn't even make my local paper because no one is talking. That really is the story. The governor spoke at the fair that opening day. If not so informed, picture yourself being beaten innocently walking out of a park by some of our finest residents. I would say we have a problem. The whole state is beginning to smell like "Dairy Air."
Be careful.
"Wisconsin race riots"..check it out. They will appreciate your comments as to how to stop the nonsense.

zoomy1 is right. There were random acts of violence directed against a small group of WI State Fair goers leaving the grounds opening day. From everything I heard, the incident was greatly blown out of proportion and none of these actual attacks was captured on video or cell phone cameras. In this age of instant citizen's video evidence, it's seems rather unusual none was available, especially given the extent it was made out to be.

I don't know what has happened to "classy" assemblies. Just a few years ago on the steps of my small Wisconsin hometown city hall, the KKK decided to hold a rally. The cops provided a protection barrier separating a potentially unruly crowd from the speakers, but nothing happened. I didn't go, for I could hear what was being said from my office window. A most fortunate option. The KKK spoke their peace and everybody went home. Did something happen along the way? Like if you yell at a candidate you get two votes.
If a candidate has nothing you wish to hear in person, why go? Isn't it better to let the undecided actually hear what is being spoken? Sigh...I am glad I have property in Panama. Now there was once a place where you wished you had a Smith and Wesson. They lost about a 100,000 Panamanians nobody seemed to care about due to stupid government. I know how to smell tulips with the best of them. Tequila anyone?
Be careful.
