Educated Man Saves His Kid From The Cops

KSirys
He knew more than 5 cops combined. Looks like they had no choice but to let his kid go before the embarrassment reached Kanye West levels.

COWARDS OWNED!!!!!!!!!

    • "This is not American." Beautiful summation of a very thoughtful display.

Ha, and I know some won't like this, but I'm going to give respect to the cops as well for showing restraint and the ability to reason. Yes they were wrong, but we have seen plenty of examples where the cops have simply ignored the law and grossly abused their 'power'. At the very least, this shows them to be reasonable people and not out of control animals just looking to put someone in the hospital.

Overall, I think this is a pretty positive video. Both citizens and law enforcement could take a lesson from this.

    • Note to all black people: Have a camera on you and a witness when dealing with cops, if that camera wasn't there he'd would of got tackled.

Hey not just the black folks need to carry a camera. we all need to carry a camera because we can not all carry a gun. Besides the camera does not lie in a court of law. We all know the cops will have done and will do again ..

    • I thought a teenager was going to pop out of that car and then I see a child who should have never had to see the back of a squad car being introduced to one for seemingly no purpose. When I was growing up if a cop picked up a kid, he was taken straight to his dad - not surrounded by thugs to hide a conversation.

    • I would question the education of this dad. Listen to what he is saying. None of it is relevant, or right, or makes any sense. I acknowledge police brutality, and abhor it. To Ksirys posts that ask "is this the law of the land? I would answer no, they are against the law of the land, that is why they were brought forward, and that is why we can see them. The hundreds of thousand of proper arrests and treatments don't make the news or get watched. To those who assume that the police are acting out of line in any way in this video, I would ask why? I applaud anyone like the dad when they give a kid a second chance rather than a police record, but all that is in the video is ranting. I would hate to be behind this guy in a checkout line or fast food restaurant. Saving someone from the police seems a lot like saving someone from a teacher or fireman. Most are simply doing their jobs. If you want to get my bile up, show me videos like Ksirys did in the comments to Forgotten Echo. I see totally unnecessary and illegal brutality. This video shows me a guy spouting gobbldigook to some cops who may or may not be doing something wrong.

He may have been digging up someone's flowerbed, keying cars, doing something dangerous etc. The point is that I don't know, and it isn't clear based on anything I see. Why was the video pulled from Youtube? Did they know it was bogus? I don't care for assumptions made based on stereotypes. You have assumed that the police did not see him do anything or have a report of activity. You are assuming that he wasn't simply questioned and released, as is done often throughout the country. Given the beliefs his father has about the law, the kid may have been doing things he didn't know was wrong. Listen carefully to the claims the dad is making. They are unreal. I cannot make a judgement about any occurrence without complete information, and people who do, often look foolish, even when their cause is right.

its not illegal in Virginia. They say that they allow the parent to sit in as a courtesy, and label parents like myself who insist that their child not speak a word other than I want to call my mother as interfering with investigations.

    • In Oklahoma they would have beaten his ass the second he popped his camera out stating he was *assaulting a police officer*, placed crack cocaine on his person, placed gun on his person, then stated to the "allegations that there was a video of the event" that they were "Investigating" and "could not comment on an ongoing investigation".

BTW, 5 cops to arrest one little boy !!! That does sound fishy. Way to go dad.

Stating the entire truth may go against the wanted outcome so we pick and choose the bits which will get the reaction we want.

    • Does anyone know the events immediately prior to the taping? It would be "Consitutionally correct" to judge this story on its entirity, instead of just the sensational and inflamatory segment we were able to see here. Wouldn't it be "Constitutionally prudent to know ALL of the facts of the story?

The police do not do as you say, to be "Consitutionally correct" to judge someones story on its entirety, instead they just take the pieces that fit the narrative they have determined and act on that.

Yeah, cuz we've seen so many videos on here lately of the cops taking the time to be "Constitutionally prudent" and make sure they know ALL of the facts of the story before they beat the shit out of some homeless man and kill him. My guess is there is no story, the kid was probably doing something stupid, and the cops swarmed in because that's what they do now. Did you see the cops getting ALL of the facts before they beat and tasered Kelly Thomas to death, or did you miss that one?

I have no problem whatsoever with what this dad did. He got his kid out of that police car, and if he had to act crazy to do it, at least he still has his child alive. Kelly Thomas is gone, and there was nothing his dad could do to save him, even though he cried out for his dad again and again. I'm sorry, but I'm proud of this dad.

Dude, it doesn't MATTER cops can NOT interview a minor child with out a parent present, as in sitting right next to the child. The entire time he was talking to the cops the senior officer was talking to the kid, THAT IS ILLEGAL. So it doesn't matter what "events immediately prior".

No talky to kiddie is constitutionally correct.

    • Why do you think the police have to use violence as a means of control? It is the direct result of education and qualification simply being non present. The police really think their authority and their word is absolute, what a laugh. I bet every time these cops patrol, it is not for the safety of the citizens, but the profit of the county that is the priority. America's private prison system ideals have leaked into the streets and has DISCRIMINATELY ruined lives.

Thank God for educated people clever enough to fool these tyrants amongst men; who else will stop the ignorance and prejudice that grips this nation.

I don't know what happened ,but these particular cops seem pretty mild ...most would have provoke this guy into a arrest or at least restrained him just to show him the big bad blue is in charge..!! Of course the camera may have kept the blue ego in check! lol

I think all of his dad's United Nations mumbo jumbo threw these cops off, and that, together with the camera, made them afraid of an international scene, knowing they had no good reason to have this man's 8 year-old son in the back of their squad car. Kudos to this dad who did what he had to do to keep his child safe from cops, since cops have continued to demonstrate that they CANNOT be trusted with the well being of the citizenry they are sworn to protect.

I don't think it was just the UN mumbo jumbo that did it. I don't think the cops knew the law well enough to be 100% sure that any of what he said was false, and they WERE guilty of kidnapping.

    • I am a bit dismayed that the police are questioning a minor in private, even though they are aware the father is demanding to be present. However, if the guy claimed he was the father, even if the boy confirmed it, how were the cops to know that in fact he was the father?

Just a side note, I believe cops learn to abuse their power first for the sake of expediency, then soon after they just feel entitled to respect. However, this situation did not seem to escalate to that degree. Furthermore, the father's refusal to identify himself, so officers could question the child in the guardian’s presence, suggests this guy was not really thinking about his child.

A cop is not a lawyer. Their primary function is to keep the peace in a manner as prescribed by law. They are not there to hold court, weighing legal principles in middle of the street. The fact that the officer didn't know verbatim what this guy supposedly understands is irrelevant. What is at issue here is did the cop or cops act in good faith with due diligence? Based on this recording the officers did.

Good analysis. I tried to point out as well that the father doesn't seem to realize that there are state and local laws that are enforceable as long as they don't contradict the constitution. He doesn't realize what badges and uniforms are for. International law does not keep the local sheriff from arresting someone for spitting on the sidewalk. I tried to view the original link, but found nothing, so while I agree with your concerns jackshin, I still am in the dark about this incident.

    • From this video, I have no idea why the child was detained, or what the intention of the policeman was. I have no reason to believe that he wouldn't have been released after questioning, or that anything improper was occurring. The gentleman seems to be spouting gibberish and meaningless threats, and is completely unaware of delegation of authority. If everyone in the country approached the police this way, soon there would be no rule of law. I don't trust the police any more than most. I know they sometimes go on power trips. The dad may have razzle dazzled his kid out of trouble, or simply complicated a simple admonishment. I couldn't tell.

If it was my kid sitting in their damn cop car, you can bet your sweet ass I'd do whatever I needed to do to get my kid out of that cop car, razzle dazzle did the job, good for the dad. Cops are stupid, they had nothing on this kid or they wouldn't have let him go so quickly once his dad stood up to them. Bullies don't respond to anything other than standing up to them, and these cops were bullying that kid. Clearly. Sorry you can't see that, hope it's never your kid they do this to. Kelly Thomas ended up dead...for what? Nothing.

There is a difference between an educated man and an ignorant man trying to act intelligent. The individual in the video is clearly uneducated and likely thinks more highly of his brain power than his intellect warrants. When he began with something along the lines of "only Christians have names," I thought "here goes a wanna be smart Jerry's kid. Let me watch the train wreck."

If cops and social services would let parents be parents, we wouldn't have these kind of police scenes where cops are trying to jack some guy's kid. The cops would work with the parents, not against them....good for this dad, he deserves a medal, and these cops, man, I hope they all get fired for being stupid.

    • I'm honestly curious what the kid did in the first place. Its seems like that was intentionally cut out and instead we have someone who is ranting against the police officers and talking about laws that technically aren't correctly applied to this case since human trafficking implies that someone is being taken for economic/monetary purposes. Treason makes no sense either and is rather blown out of proportion. I mean if these cops were corrupt, they would be asking him for bribes and would probably have arrested him as well. Those cops to me came out looking rather calm to the situation and just releasing the kid without any real physical confrontation. Oh, and using UN law makes no sense either since this is more about law within both the US constitution and state constitutions.
