It began with the world hanging on to every development in the debt-ceiling negotiations as it fretted over whether Washington’s dysfunction would lead to American default and global calamity. Even robustly pro-American commentators and politicians wondered aloud if the United States could still govern itself.

I believe that America is leading in the best way possible given the many paradigm shifts taking place in the world, resulting in chaos. World preoccupation with $$ and war has created global arrested development, with science and technology that could solve problems repressed in order to prevent the necessary and costly retooling that our society has managed to do many times before.
Resistance to change is normal and healthy, preventing change before we are 'ready,' but it seems to me we are now ready to progress. T Boone Pickens's Plan for energy independence is a good one, but many are going kicking and screaming into the new millennium, unwilling to make new investments, preferring to create chaos and global meltdown rather than learn something new. What little faith these folks have in America.....
I like T Boone Pickens. Anybody that sends a 747 in to rescue the dogs during Katrina is alright in my book.
Rather than scapegoating/lynching our President, I suggest we stop all this chatter...the talking heads cannot help us now...we have never BEEN HERE BEFORE, and anyone who thinks they know what is going on is fooling you.
