With an unprecedented sum of wealth held within the top one-tenth of one percent of the US population, we now have the most severe inequality of wealth in US history. http://www.alternet.org/economy/152010/americans_don%27t_realize_just_how_badly_...

    • Hmm. No national health, money-starved public education, skyrocketing costs for even public colleges & universities, minimal retirement funds withheld from salaries repeatedly threatened or borrowed for political reasons, no high speed trains, spotty & minimal light rail, crumbling roads & bridges & public buildings, defunding of public TV & radio broadcasting, and, compared to other industrial nations, lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality, lower math & science scores, higher bankruptcy rates, increasingly crowded homeless camps.

I think I do notice that I am materially worse off than if I lived in any number of other industrialized nations...
