We’re calling today on the president of the United States to put a moratorium on regulations across this country, because his regulations, his EPA regulations are killing jobs all across America.
Watch it: {{Above}}
“We’re sending out a request today asking President Obama to put a moratorium on all regulations,” Perry said on WHO radio in Iowa, recorded live by ThinkProgress.
Under such a moratorium, the Food and Drug Administration would stop approving new drugs and preventing human experimentation; the USDA would stop checking for food safety; the EPA would stop monitoring for poisons in drinking water; the Library of Congress would stop loaning materials to blind people; the NTSB would stop investigating airplane accidents; HHS would end Medicare payments; no more patents, copyrights, or trademarks would be issued; DHS would stop protecting chemical facilities from terrorist attacks; the Treasury would stop printing currency; financial sanctions on hostile nations like North Korea and Iran would end; and the Federal Reserve System would shut down.
Perry’s “moratorium on regulations” would mean a literal end to the rules of law in the United States. At least it would also mean that all of President George W. Bush’s midnight regulations favoring polluters and industry abuses would also be lifted.
Update:
Perry is taking a more strident stand than the one his staff has prescribed for him on his website, a “six-month freeze on new federal regulations.” Such a freeze would prevent everything from science-based standards for smog pollution to approval of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.

There is a reason we have regulations. We have them because without them, corporations will trash this country. A lot of what they did has been cleaned up, but there are still issues, such as fracking.
Here's just a short list of some disasters we've have:Cuyahoga River fire 1970 (Lake Erie).
http://bit.ly/r1KhV7Love Canal
http://bit.ly/oJzZCII'm just old enough to remember both of these. Lake Erie, in particular, was considered a dead lake. There was very little life in the lake and going to the beach was out of the question.
Would these have been cleaned up if there had been no EPA? Given that industry fought tooth and nail against blame, its doubtful. But lets get rid of it anyway. - 9 months ago

I believe we should get rid of the Federal Reserve, it is a ridiculous system. What's more sad about it is most people I speak to think it's a part of the government. That the paper money we have is not printed by a corporate super-power that is desperately trying to hold onto it's wealth. We, as Americans, need to dump the dollar, collect pennies that are pre-1981 (as well as early century dimes and nickles, I believe), as well as invest in silver and gold. If I would've bought 30,000 U.S dollars in silver in 2005 it'd be worth 90,000 and counting now, adjusted for inflation that is still quite the profit. Continue to hold onto it and who knows how much it might end up being worth.
Anyway,we need an economy that is actually an economy. Not something that depends on consumerism, and inflation, and continuous waste. Jaque Fresco has it right, imo. Resource-based would be a hellofa change, but it'd be a good way to go.
That said, I still am struggling with who to vote for in 2012, Ron Paul, or Obama. I highly doubt we'll ever see a republican that'll ever be worthy of being the president ever again. And democrats are becoming more and more rare. Honestly, if we could get enough votes for him, I think Bernie Sanders and Ron Paul as his vice president would make a great combo. Abolish the federal reserve, make sure disabled people like myself get assistance, make sure we have free basic and emergency healthcare and affordable healthcare all around. Alternative energy, legalized hemp (Which is an absolute must to help restore our economy, you want a major cash crop that can fuel cars, build homes, and tenso f thousands of textiles, that can be harvested very quickly? there ya go!), hemp-crete housing, as well as alternative machine-controlled construction. And a job market that is based in reality an expotential technological growth.
Now that'd be lovely. A society that believes in true progression and isn't fraid of it, and a society that doesn't depend on war and constant buying of useless crap all the time to keep it going. A society that isn't ran on a ponzi scheme that calls itself an economy when it is anything but.
Sorry for the typos, I am typing very quickly as I'm in a rush :P

here's an excerpt from James Moore's commentary:
"The people who want Jesus as a screensaver on every computer in public schools, call women who have had abortions "baby killers," think that being a homosexual is a "lifestyle choice," and are convinced that humans once saddled up and rode west on dinosaurs; these people all made Bush uncomfortable. But Perry loves them. He shares many of their beliefs. They helped elect him governor. And (now) they might just make him president."

Today I briefly visited a Verizon picket line. It is a sad state of affairs that working class union members have to strike while the CEOs rake in millions in wages and bonuses, and the general public just goes on with their business. I stopped to take a few pictures, acquired their handout, and went home to post this story on my website. What happens out there affects us all. We should all be standing up for them like we did for the Wisconsin workers. We are all in this together.
There was a time when picket lines were respected. Now they are treated like an inconvenience.
Let’s all give them some support in any way that we can. If it is only on the internet, so be it. If you can join them outside, that is better. When the unions disappear, they will not be back, and we will all be that much worse for it. Let’s extend that spirit of Wisconsin, and make a difference. We have to let the government and the business tyrants know that we are not happy with the way things are.
