    • I believe in a boycott of political donations- FOR THE GOP. Let the Koch brothers and their superpac do it all, and let the working people of this country only make donations to the Democratic party. Should about equal out.

    • Pardon me for bringing this up, and I don't mean this as an anti-Semitic comment, but hasn't Howard Schultz been, quite famously, a huge, long term contributor to Zionist causes?
CEO's do get in the habit of telling others what to do on a mere whim, of course, but I'm always a little confused when CEO's suddenly becomes a "populist" with one single ragged notion or the other.
(Not to discount the few CEO's that do have democratic impulses--they are rare, but they do exist from time to time.)

    • This guy has a perfect outlet to push his idea its called morning joe fueled by starbucks. All he has to do is insist that Joe,Mika,Willy,Mike, and Pat call for that boycott every morning and then keep asking each politician to disclose the names of the people and corporations[the supreme court says they are people] who donate to them and then since at one time msnbc said morning joe set the agenda for the day they could do this at the beginning of every hour all day.But I doubt it will even get a mention because at this time cable news money is coming from the republican campaigns and corporate ads and then when the democratic campaign and corporate ads start coming air time will be allotted in proportion to the amount of money coming in from each faction

    • Outlaw PACs, too. The sources of misinformation to instill fear and hate through political ads. There is more capital in them than direct campaign contributions, and usually from deeper pockets.

Grow your own food, help the poor (like Christ said some 300 times in the New Testament), don't vote, recycle your pets and dump you garbage in the middle of downtown. Give the rich and shameless no quarter. Wait, wait, wrong planet again...... never mind. Drop your linen and start your grinen......

    • Screw Starbucks. Got two daughters working there. If only our southern brothers and sisters would have had the sense to call their slaves associates or baristas, there would have been no problem, no war and we would have had 600,000 more breeders running around circa 1861 - 1865 (estimate of casualties in the War between the States). Cut the info crap and get down to commonwealth issues. Eat the rich or if that's not to you taste, the French had some dandy solutions way back when.

    • He's been talking about that for a couple days now. He is asking the "Public" to stop giving to the politicians. You notice that he doesn't call on the Corporations to stop giving. If people do this then only the businesses will get to decide which politicians get what money. I think it is a Really smart strategy but would hurt the Public influence, what little there is, on the political issues. Yeah, I know, people feel the Public opinion is not listened to anyway but there ARE Some politicians that Do listen, just not enough of them, yet.
This Sounds like a good idea on principle but don’t be fooled, it would Hurt the public’s position in politics. Think about it, what runs the political machine? MONEY – How could you hurt the other side? Take away their MONEY!
Be suspicious of Corporations with ideas for the Public to follow!

At Hardees no one buys, they send the employees home only the employee is hurt and they purchase derivatives insurance to cover losses when sales are down from bad weather equipment failing and labor unrest

    • I haven't paid attention to Starbucks in a while, but if I remember correctly Shultz worked hard to make sure his employees received decent wages and benefits. Is this still true? I had thought about being a Barrista in a Starbucks 10 years ago, it paid alot better then than what I was making and included things like healthcare.

That's what makes small businesses strong and Can translate into a Very Successful Large business as he has shown. You Can keep the people happy And make good profits. Too bad too many of the Mega-Corps only care about Maximizing profits for those at the top these days. Their GREED is what has damaged our country and our Planet for Far too long.
We need Far more Regulations, not less, and Taxes for Corporations! The small businesses don’t get to enjoy the breaks the Mega-Corps enjoy and that is Not a fair business environment!

It never ceases to amaze me when I hear the Chamber of Commerce Republicans carrying on about tax-cuts for the top 2%. The average small businessman does not in anyway benefit from those loopholes for the MegaCorps, or the 15% capital gains tax paid by the UberWealthy. I find it obscene that my Plumber, Electrician, and Family Physician pay out tax rates two to three times what the Koch's do. The Kochs can take advantage of every loophole and subsidy available and then spend big bucks to manipulate our governance.

I'm appalled Warren Buffett takes a 100K per year salary while receiving the remaining millions he earns each year in stock. By taking his pay in stock he isn't taxed on it unless he cashes in some stock. The stock he cashes in is taxed at 15% rather than the 35.

I'm appalled Warren Buffet claims he lives modestly in his Omaha home when he also has a 4M beach home in California that is owned by one of his corporate holdings and called a corporate retreat.

I'm appalled Warren Buffett claims he lives modestly while he flies everywhere in his corporate owned jet.

Then Buffett has the balls to tell the public the rich should pay more while he's gaming the system. He's playing people for fools.

true, It use to be, not sure now, one works for Starbucks and went to College, you got some scholarship money, guaranteed. Other concerns were that Starbucks underpaid the workers in foreign countries who collected the coffee beans. There was also reports the land used to plant the beans destroyed what was the habitat of many endangered species. However, I only heard that once on 20/20.

He has Not "avoided" paying taxes, he has only paid the taxes he is "required" to pay, the same as all the other Billionaires that he is in competition with. The difference is that he is saying that the taxes are not High Enough on him and those like him and that there are Far Too many loopholes for them to keep from being “required” to pay taxes. He wants to level the playing field for ALL businesses so that Big businesses do not have unfair advantages over small businesses. He is a businessman with a heart and compassion for the people of this country, rare these days. He fought against all of the Bush tax cuts when they were being discussed in Congress.

I do not think he is bad because he uses available ways to save money for the company such as tax loopholes the same as his competition does because that is the way the rules are currently set up and that needs to change.

It’s not about who takes advantage of the rules, it’s about what the rules should be! It is his political stance of Higher taxes for the rich and closing corporate loopholes that earns him my respect.
