It was a sad-but-true joke, tying climate change with getting the hell out of the U.S. The winters in Canada are getting warmer (if you disregard the higher frequency of extreme weather occurences). I would rather get stuck in ice storms (and beautiful summers!) than have to deal with mainstream US media and politicians that play "heads I win, tails you lose" all the time. I will admit that it was a bad joke.

Senator Kyle, recently made a false statement on the house floor and when challenged answered, "It wasn't supposed to be factual". What? How can he say that out loud, without consequences. When did a blatant lie become acceptable.
Even after Senator Kyle lied, he was chosen to be on the 'Super Committee'. What would it take for shame? Accountability? In this 'up is down' world they have created, they are allowed to say the stuff out loud and know we will just move along to their wrongs. When we don't, they play victim and people like Rupert Murdoch, give them air time, to spin madness. Up is down, wrong is right. Sad, sad, sad!

What has facts to do with ANYTHING? Like history. How can history change or alter the future? And then when you put the two together...factual history...now, those are fighting words to a Republican! We all know how they love to rewrite history, too!
Hasn't anyone figured out why Republicans are against funding for education than raising taxes on the top 1% of corporations? isn't it obvious to anyone? As funding goes down, so does the quality of education. The less our young peope are taught about history, politics and how a government is funded, the more likely people will believe the out and out lies about the theories of the GOP.
The reason Republicans are so against teaching evolution in ANY school, pubic OR private is because the Republican have NEVER used it!
There are Creationists. There's Evolutionists. And then there's De-Evolutionists. I believe those that believe in Creationism are devolving into a world where facts and history does not matter. That's what I believe.
What books would you find in a Republican's library?
The Bible, anything Ann Coulter and a mostly burnt copy of Fahrenheit 451.

I read Fahrenheit 451 years ago and found it scarier in many ways, than 1984. One of the things that made it so vivid is the fact the most of the things could happen. Bradbury stressed in several places that facts were not important on TV as long as the news had the outcome everyone expected.
