"Former Assemblyman Pat Delany abruptly resigned last month from his post representing the 8th district after his wife sent a racially tinged email to senate challenger Carl Lewis, the former Olympic Gold medalist.

Responding to an email blast issued by the Lewis campaign, three sources said Jennifer Delany on July 7th sent the following response to the Democrat’s campaign: “Imagine, not having to pay NJ state income taxes...It must be nice. Imagine getting a court ruling overturned so your name could get put on the ballot. Imagine having dark skin and name recognition and the nerve to think that equalled (sic) knowing something about politics. Sure, knowing someone with fat purse strings is nice, but you have no knowledge.

Remove my email. To think you STOLE my email and name from a complaint letter. I'm reporting you as SPAM.” *

So, Delany resigned to spare his bigot idiot wife and young children the public humiliation were this to have become public? OMG color me surprised and that doesn't happen much anymore. Wondering if he wasn't aware his wife was a hostile bigot idiot or if she was suddenly taken by the bigot idiot virus that seems to be sweeping America the past 3 years.

Or does the, a-hem, lady drink and email like Martha Mitchell used to drunk dial/mail? At least ol Martha got some truth out in her rants.

IF this is the reason for Delany's resignation, and I am a trusting sort despite my advanced age and experience, it gives me some hope. Is it possible there are still a few politicians with a sense of shame and empathy, at least for their children?

* and anybody so computer ignorant to think an email address must have been stolen really does need to back away from the computer lest she hurt herself.

      In all fairness to drunk spouses (and I admit to a real bigotry about drunks in general) gotta figure being married to the scum that passes for elected officials and wannabees would require a lot of medication of one form or another.

      Are you old enough to remember Martha Mitchell's funeral? I have long wondered who sent the funeral spray with the great big "Martha Was Right" banner. I lean toward John Lennon, John Dean, or even Tricky Dick and his bizarre mental state. Always thought it would have been a great board game: Who Sent Martha the Flowers?
