I don’t know what else to say except, disgusting. There’s a video of this on the UK Telegraph website, this thing is horrible. Dr. King was made to look Oriental, there’s no mistaking it.
We spent millions outsourcing this to the Chinese. What a sorry lot we have become. Dr. King deserves better. To add a little urine in your salad dressing, Hop Sing is the same guy that did a Mao statue as well.
This crap just makes me so damned proud to be an American! How about you?
The 30ft-tall statue, which forms the centrepiece of a $120 million (£73 million), four-acre memorial to Dr King, opened to the public on Monday on the National Mall in Washington. It is the only memorial on the Mall that does not honour a president or fallen soldiers.
Standing in the shadow of the Washington Monument, the statue shows Dr King emerging from a mountain of Chinese granite with his arms crossed and is called The Stone of Hope.
However, there has been controversy over the choice of Lei Yixin, a 57-year-old master sculptor from Changsha in Hunan province, to carry out the work. Critics have openly asked why a black, or at least an American, artist was not chosen and even remarked that Dr King appears slightly Asian in Mr Lei’s rendering.
Mr Lei, who has in the past carved two statues of Mao Tse-tung, one of which stands in the former garden of Mao Anqing, the Chinese leader’s son, carried out almost all of the work in Changsha.
Really? The f—-ing Chinese? When are we going to knock this crap off?

This sculptor is a master and world renowned. It is an insult to the memory of Dr. King to object to using the best sculptor because of his skin color and nationality. This flies in the face of his beliefs and displays a deep misunderstanding of his teachings. I am so sad that those of you who express unhappiness over this beautiful rendition of Dr. King see only the race of the artist and not the quality of his work.

That AWFUL - MLK likely would have laughed at it tho' - no?. This boo-boo isn't surprising at all, we don't manufacture anything in North America anymore. It is sad and makes me so angry. But to portray MLK as "Oriental" is ludicrous, as Dr. Phil would say: "I am stupified."
The stuff they make is shoddy - almost all of it - they even poisoned their own babies with deadly chemicals put into milk powder to increase protein content.Even Newt's T-Shirts were made in Honduras or Guatemala, forget which one; again, I say this with sadness as well as anger. (But I did get a kick outa looking at Newt's fat old face when he found out in front of a crowd, almost fell off my perch laughing.)
(As an aside: We had a big batch of latex/plastic gloves (made in China) arrive at several of the hospitals here; they had insects embedded in the latex - honest truth - the whole batch.)

Despicable. The American worker gets zero respect from clowns like these. Dr. King was also a helluva union supporter and would be rolling over in his grave to hear this. It's time we make them respect us again.
