Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC’s The Ed Show to talk about the Republicans’ response to the ousting of Gaddafi in Libya. Yet again, the crazy conservatives are attacking the president because he didn’t follow Bush’s “shock doctrine” of shoot first, look for oil, and then ask questions."And they Never will give BO any credit for anything!!!!"

This guy Papantonio has an ugly last name but he should have his own msnbc program right after the Ed show. He's really smart and goes straight to the heart of the republicans. He's always right about the republicans. Good guy. The republicans KNOW that the president was right but they will never give him credit for anything!!. But we don't need them to tell us what happened!!. They are just like infants crying because Obama is smarter than them . They are just plain stupid and funny.

Right now, it seems that the bulk of the blame for casualties is being placed at the feet of NATO by exactly the people we would expect to do that--Gaddafi lost his regime and Kucinich is renowned for his uncompromising anti-war stance. The side of the story that NATO and its apologists tell, of course, is that they prevented casualties.
The truth, of course, won't be apparent until the fog of war has cleared and independent reporting on the situation becomes possible.

This whole Libya thing is made up propaganda started by the US as an excuse to attack Libya, overthrow Ghadhaffi and take over their resources. If you check with any media outside of the us and it's partners you will come to understand just what is going on over there. The lies that the western media pushes forth is absolutely insane and meant to keep Americans in the dark about what is actually happening.

Papantonio is wrong, the US didn't even attempt to use diplomacy, or sanctions or any other measures besides just bombing Libya.
And Obama's ambassador of the UN, Susan Rice, actually tried to peddle a laughable phony wartime attrocity story about Gaddafi passing out Viagra to assist his troops in raping women to drum up international support for Obama/NATO's "kenetic military action."

Okay, Obama should be given credit for stepping up in the nick of time and far less ribbing for taking so long. In the end, the decisive intervention freed a nation from tyranny. And unlike the previous administration, Obama will also work through the UN to help the new potential democracy on its feet.
But here we have again another of Obama’s curious paradoxes. The constitutional professor, who would not test the 14th amendment to override congress, easily exceeded his constitutional authority to attack lybia without Congressional permission.
So when it means helping the middle class and more importantly holding corporations accountable thus saving the country from fiscal nightmare, Obama refuses on constitutional grounds. However, declaring war, maintaining involvement until regime change is assured, is an acceptable violation of the constitution. Especially, if you consider their freedom means more oil to sale by big Petro.
In that case, bomb the f u c k e r s, and to hell with congress.
But to be fair, Obama wasn't really referring to all of congress, it was just meant for the progressive democrats.

There was similar "confusion" in the Senate. Obummers big problem is that he did not adhere to the War Powers Act. Of course this will be ignored due to his political leanings. Bush actually went to Congress before he shot second.
Libya is is a state of civil war. I am wondering where the president and congress/senate, are given the authority to do this.
If Obummer were Republican, Papantonio and Sgt. Schultz would be beating on the table in an effort to discredit the actions in Libya. Now that it is done I am interested to see what type of government will be installed. I would bet a dozen donuts that it will be sharia law or close to it. Trading tyrants. We spent a lot of money to put SF on the ground and drop smart munitions on Gaddafis folk. Wait until this shakes out before we say how well it was resolved. It isn't over yet.

I smell hypocricy. We didnt belong in Iraq and Afghanistan because those were Bushs wars. But we belong in Libya because its Obama if you will? Obama hemmed and hawed on what to do. Then after an initial burst he had America back away from leadership. How can he be credited with victory when he backed away from leadership?
We didnt belong in Iraq.
We didnt belong in Afghanistan.
We didnt belong getting involved in a civil war in Libya. Were not done in any of these places. Were just starting in Libya. A bunch of rebels are going to run a country? Get real! NATO will probably be in there with a long term peace keeping mission until long after elctions take place. Who knows when elections will take place. Guess where the money will come from? The US. And we will have people on thee ground under the NATO flag.
When it all nets out in these three countries lets not jump to conclusios on victory. Lets wait and see where these countries are as threats to the region, the world and the US two or three years after theyre on their own.
At least Im consistant. Im not caught up in political mantra. I dont judge the validity of wars based on the political party of the president. The only purpose to be at war is to defend the security of the United States. Even then our job is to get in, get the job done adn get out. In all of these three wars the only thing that should have been done is shoving enough missles up Afghanistans rear end so countries understand if they harbor terrorists that will be the treatment they get.

I'd agree that we never belonged in Iraq. However at the time it made sense to go into Afghanistan since Al Qaeda was training there and it was home to the Taliban. Libya is a different story. On the surface it's easy to say we are helping the Libyan people to overthrow a terrorist regime. However, looking beneath the surface it's a simple fact that Libya has lots of oil it was refusing to sell the US, and most certainly, the real reason we got involved. I say this because Yemen and Bharain also had uprisings last year and the US didn't get involved. I suspect the reason is that Bharain already sells us lots of oil and is home to the US 5th Fleet and Yemen can't even produce enough for it's own population. Gadifi, like Hussein was/is a friendless dictator sitting on top of lots of oil i.e. a tempting and easy target. From a geopolitical perspective, it's about as close as a country can come to saying "hit me". Although I support much of what Obama has done and said, I can't support this.
We should be developing alternative sources of energy and NOT allow ourselves to remain addicted to a filthy, outdated, finite, energy resource that we have to buy from countries that hate us. All actions like this do is keep us dependent on foreign oil.

I agree with you and understand why we went into Afghanistan. The problem going in was, and still is, how do we get out? In my view the problem with getting out overrides why we went in. I would have been happy to see us just bomb the crap out of Afghanistan as a message to any country harboring terrorists.
The problem with countries in this region of the world is regardless of their geographical boundaries and political structure, they tend to be feudal tribes with their own territories. Regardless of the US attempting to nation build and bringing democracy to these countries, chances are they will return to their old ways as soon as we leave. It's a waste of money to be there.

The hypocricy on this site is the people on the left on this site who state any war during a Republican is bad and any war during a Democrat's presidency is to be celebrated.
This may be very hard for someone such as yourself who is so in lockstep with whatever drumbeat the liberal faction of the Democratic Party beats out for you. But I do not define my politics based on the Republican platform. I form my own opinion on everything.
I don't care who's president. I believe any war the US enters must involve protecting it's people, resources and allies. In addition it must have a defined game plan for victory, a define time line to evaluate the game plan and a defined exit strategy. Iraq and Afghanistan did not meet these requirements based on long term strategy and exit strategy. In no shape of form did Libya (or will any civil war) meet any of the criteria.
There are other situations in Africa and all over the world involving dictatorships, genocide, etc. requiring humane action. The US isn't there. Why Libya? Civil wars are not the US's business unless our security is in danger. Khadaffi was not a threat to the US.

REALLY???
And I guess you haven't read about McCain's dealings with the sweet dictator.... Nor did you deign to read the link on my post (from Reuters)( above) re his stash of dirty nuke material - or that he left it scattered all over an airport runway? And you seriously use the term "arrogant" to describe liberals? Really, Mr Merrill, REALLY???
This is much like saying that "oh,... 9/11 happened 10 years ago, it's over, and we should forget it now."

Gaddafi is gone. Great, he was a bad guy. So was Saddam Hussein, and we got rid of him. OK, now who is in charge? Are we going to spend ten years nation building in Libya like we have in Iraq? How much is that going to cost? Why are we there in the first place? We should have never invaded Iraq and we should have never involved ourselves in this. I was against invading Iraq and I am against our involvement in this. It will only cost American lives and tax dollars, just like Iraq, which we are still 10 years later spending American lives and tax dollars on.

A little known fact that I TRULY....TRULY...believe GWB waged war against Saddam
because there was a mosaic of GHWB in the lobby of the downtown Hilton, named Hotel Al-Rasheed, that EVERY American HAD to step on his "face" when they checked into the hotel. That was a VERY embarrassing thing for the Bush Family to contend with and the FIRST thing our troops did when they entered Baghdad in 2003 was to dig that sucker up!AND...a thousand dollars to a penny Barbara Bush has it in her possession! Most likely with Saddam's tongue so he can't badmouth the Bush Family in Hell! She, Barbara, is one mean bitch and I wouldn't put it past her! No matter what "they" say how the soldiers "broke it up"!
"A tile mosaic depicting U.S. President George H.W. Bush with a look of astonishment on his face was installed on the floor of the lobby after the Persian Gulf War. This was intended to force any visitors to walk over his face to enter the hotel (a serious insult in Arab culture). The mosaic was smashed by U.S. soldiers after the invasion, who replaced it with one of Saddam Hussein" - Wikipedia
But, perhaps I haven't "shared" this "Bill Hicks" one with you yet...I'm taking the chance I haven't.

And once again the jerk offs and their feeble minded followers try to make the president look like he doesn't know how to do his job.
As much as I couldn't stand George (THE MOUSE) Bush I still called him my president. The conservatives and their feeble minded followers will never give President Obama the recognition of being their president.

Your right. Republicans will never give this president credit for anything. They should be ashamed. Obama along with UN, has taken down Gaddafy, the madman that killed his own people. And no American soldiers killed. Thank you for your comment.

Donald Rumsfeld was sent to collect the money Saddam owed for all the WMDs the U.S. sold him to attack Iran...which was doing NOTHING but protecting their oil fields from being confiscated by Saddam!
Strange "bedfellows" indeed!

Yes, KB! I recall it. And enjoyed watching again!
We have had a long "relationship" with Tripoli ever since the beginning of this Nation. The "hits" just keep rolling along, too.
The ONLY bright spot is...we may be bringing home the bodies of the Marines that were sent to rescue American sailors that were being held by the Sultan of what is now Libya over two hundred years ago! Barbary pirates were a scourge to many countries, including countries as far as Iceland and other Baltic countries.
"In 1804, one skirmish ended with the frigate USS Philadelphia grounded on a reef and its crew captured. So an expeditionary force of US Marines and an army of about 500 Greek, Arab, and Berber mercenaries marched 600 miles across the desert from Egypt to seize the eastern Libyan city of Darnah. This show of force persuaded the Tripoli leadership to agree to ransom the Philadelphia’s sailors and sign a treaty of peace and friendship.
The Battle of Darnah – aka the Battle of Derna, or the Battle of Derne – was not just the first US land battle in a distant country, by the way. It was the first battle on foreign soil for the US Marines, too, and is immortalized in the first verse of the “Marines’ Hymn”.
By the early 19th century the pirates were essentially sponsored by the Arab rulers of Morocco, Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli.
“From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli, we fight our country’s battles in the air, on land and sea.” - Lyrics from the USMC Hymn.

They seem to think it is fair to do this because they have a false sense of what persecution Dubya endured. They are insane. This is so fucking tiring. I do not know if it is racist, corporate or a combo platter, but it won't stop. All we can do is point out how insane it is to have a hateful, irrational group dedicated to destroying a sitting President no matter what he does.
