Ok, that's just wrong, but I had to!
So the charges were dropped against Dominique Strauss-Kahn. The general consensus appears to be that DSK was set up for some reason. Who really knows when you are talking high political stakes and international intrigue?
***
Shock, revulsion and relief were among the responses to the dropping of the DSK rape case
Bernard-Henry Lévy, philosopher and friend of DSK (and also man who is the Libyan opposition intermediary, and the man who convinced President Sarkozy to bomb Libya): "The Strauss-Kahn I know, who has been my friend for 20 years and who will remain my friend, bears no resemblance to this monster, this caveman, this insatiable and malevolent beast now being described nearly everywhere. Charming, seductive, yes, certainly; a friend to womenand, first of all, to his own woman, naturally; but this brutal and violent individual, this wild animal, this primate, obviously no, it's absurd. The real symbolic rape was the rape of Mme Diallo by her lawyer on the steps of the law courts. There has been an abuse of law … a masquerade organised by a lawyer who has reached the summits of obscenity."
DSK's lawyer, Ben Brafman: "What happened in that room, so long as we have now confirmed that it wasn't criminal, is really not something that needs to be discussed publicly."
Manuel Valls, socialist MP and presidential hopeful: "The analysis and expertise of Dominique Strauss-Kahn will be necessary, helpful and welcome for the left in France."
Pierre Moscovici, socialist MP: "I have affectionate thoughts for him, his family, for Anne [Sinclair] in particular. Once an affair is finished, it is finished. You cannot continue to make accusations once the charges have been dropped. That counts for the young woman and also for the media. The charges were not half lifted, they were lifted. He should be left in peace."
Jack Lang, former socialist minister: "The happiness we feel at this moment should not make us forget the immense waste caused by the unjust and brutal arrest of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the lynching, the violation of his presumption of innocence."
Generall Arius, United Africa Movement: "I don't give a rat's ass about what she did in the past – this should have been decided by a jury."

Think of the spike of injustices we have witnessed within the last few years since President Obama was elected. What has been done? Not too much, from what I can see. People claiming to be patriots mouthing verbal assaults at all who don’t agree with their ideology and in those very acts of asserting their rights, trample on the very constitution they claim to be protecting. Meanwhile, the REAL powers that foment much of this stuff sit back and collect the profits that all this confusion and chaos allows them (see Naomi Klein, ‘The Shock Doctrine‘). In this context, is it fair to think of lobbyists, Corporations (real legal people), corrupt politicians, and Supreme Court Justices? It was told to me by more than one lawyer that the truth is irrelevant and really doesn’t matter- it’s ONLY what can be PROVEN that counts. So much for the spirit and intent of ‘Lady Justice’ or the ‘Law‘. As long as she stands bereft of spirit and soulless, and people continue to accept only the LETTER of the law, these injustices will probably continue. Is it not fair to say then that ‘It appears that Justice is best served with a large portion of money‘ or that some can get away with ANYTHING as long as they can afford the talents and expense of a good wordsmith, otherwise known as Lawyer.

One thing that I think is noteworthy, if true, is that Strauss-Kahn was approached by a young writer Tristane Banon, his god-daughter, for an interview in 2002 who was at the time in her 20s. According to her she accused Dominque Strauss Kahn of attempted rape. Click the link to read more or copy and paste

I knew about this accusation but I didn't know that was his god daughter! Why would she lie about that?

Exactly. Apparently there are other women coming out now with similar stories. Click on the link below Tristane's picture and see what Tristane Banon said herself. Also check out what was also said about this subject by her mother. click this link to see or copy it. http://www.businessinsider.com/dominique-strauss-kahn-anne-mansouret-2011-7

Oh if that isn't a picture worth a thousand words...the strategic placement of the President's hand, keeping a measured distance between the leaning in Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Michelle....yes, men know the nature of other men, and they sense, on some unseen level, who they need to protect their wives from....

Great picture! Had too? How could you have not?! :D
Her past should not have been an issue PERIOD. To allow whatever silly nonsense about her past overshadow his parade of chicks coming out of the woodwork to make similar accusation is a very sad indictment of a system that allows victims to be further victimized by the system and criminals to go unpunished.

Okay. So if a person that lied about things that many of us may have lied about in a similar position is now a prime target for any rapist because she can not be believed about anything?
This should have just gone to trial for a jury to decide. There will always be doubt and now there is a huge reason for woman to keep their mouths shut rather than reporting sexual abuse for fear that anything that they may have done in their lifetime will be dragged up and plastered on the front page of newspapers if they happen to be raped by someone of power.
Maybe he is innocent. But we will never know because they tortured his alleged victim by reporting indiscretions that had nothing to do with the case and may or may not have been true. My story might get muddles too if I suddenly became a celebrity rape victim and every day a new story about me, true or otherwise surfaced in the local press.
I do not believe that this will adversely effect his career. I think this will make him look like an innocent man that was dragged through the American judicial system unjustly because the case was handled so incompetently by The NYC's DA office.
You can play devil's advocate and you may be right to do so. To me, I see this a a very bad day for rape victims everywhere.

I find it hard to believe anything about this case because the handling was so poor. Things that are being reported may or may not be true and the suspicious thing is that none of this stuff should have been released to the press in the first place, which makes me think, the victim was either paid off to start looking flaky or the stuff was fabricated by others that were paid off.
I am not discounting what you are saying, but this can run both ways. He could be guilty as sin and paying off the victim and/or DA officials. It was not customary to have so much about a rape victim being reported. That is why I question all of it.
