The legendary Castellers de Vilafranca from Catalonia, Spain went to Mumbai India to build an enormous 8-level tower of human beings. They participated in the Dahi Handi festival in Thane, right outside of Mumbai.
With over 40,000 Indians watching, a tower of green-shirted men, women and children reached for the Krishna’s golden pot hanging high in the air. The Vilafranca team holds the world record for the highest human tower of 10-levels and won the castell competition last year in the city of Tarragona, Spain.
A feature-length documentary about them and their endeavors to bring human towers to Chile is being made by Ram Devineni and Cano Rojas. The film also focuses on the best team in India, as they prepare and build a 9-level tower. The suspenseful and poetic movie captures their obsession, passion and drives to build the tallest human towers in the world and reach for the sky.
