While many households in the world struggle just to find and sustain adequate shelter and get enough to eat, the richest 2% of adults own more than half of the global wealth and the richest 1% own 40% of global assets. In contrast, the bottom half of the world’s adult population owns barely 1% of global wealth. Over 1 billion of the world’s population lives on less than $1 per day. Almost 2 billion gets by on less than $2 per day.
