This letter of complaint focuses on torture allegations while acknowledging evidence of other war crimes and crimes against humanity carried out by the Bush administration.
We are writing to report that:
** George W. Bush, former President of the United States and Commander is Chief of the Armed Forces, is inadmissible to Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), section 35(1)(a) because of overwhelming evidence that he has ‘committed, outside Canada, torture and other offences referred to in sections 4 to 7 of the Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes Act (CAHWC)1; and,
** The George W. Bush Administration is known to have engaged in “systematic or gross human rights violations, or a war crime or a crime against humanity within the meaning of subsections 6(3) to (5) of the CAHWC.
We are writing to request that you act immediately to ensure that :
** George W. Bush is barred entry from Canada under the IRPA; or,
** On entering Canada, George W. Bush is arrested to ensure that he will not receive safe haven from prosecution for torture either in Canada or by returning the United States; and,
** Canada initiates a prosecution for torture of George W. Bush or extradites him to be prosecuted in a jurisdiction willing and able to prosecute him for torture.
We request that you also ensure that the RCMP War Crimes Section immediately takes the following steps:
** Begin an investigation of George W. Bush for aiding, abetting and counseling torture between November 13, 2001 and November 2008 at Guantánamo Bay prison in Cuba, Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, Bagram prison in Afghanistan and other places; and,
** Acknowledge that the George W. Bush administration is a “ government that has engaged in torture and other war crimes and crimes against humanity and therefore G.W. Bush, as former President, is also inadmissible under section 35(1)(b) of the IRPA.
Canada has a legal duty to deny safe haven from prosecution to anyone suspected of torture, committed anywhere against any persons. Under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (s. 35) anyone suspected of involvement in torture must be denied entry to Canada. Once a suspect enters the country, Canada then has a legal obligation to ensure that suspect is prosecuted, if not in Canada, in a jurisdiction willing and able to do so.
Discharge of this duty usually would require the arrest and detention of the
suspect to prevent the suspect from escaping to a jurisdiction willing to provide safe haven from prosecution. Given that US Attorney General has declared and demonstrated a refusal to prosecute Bush for torture, if Bush is allowed entry, Canada’s initial duty would be first to prevent him returning to safe haven in the U.S. 2 and then to ensure his prosecution either here or elsewhere......

In case anyone wants to send an email to Mayor Diane Watts (Surrey BC Canada) here's the link. I think if she receives enough feedback about the invitation (which was quietly announced last Feb/2011 - strange nobody heard about it...) she might reconsider laying out "the welcome mat" - go ahead, do your worst.
http://www.surrey.ca/city-government/6866.aspxN.B. The other really good counselor is Judy Veilleneuve at:http://www.surrey.ca/city-government/3058.aspx
Counsellor is Judy Veilleneuve. Ms Veilleneuve. is known (for 22 yrs) for fighting for rights for the poor and good causes. She's really available to all.
Hardytoop.s. Mayor Watts is a well liked mayor, and is fairly intelligent. So use your words accordingly (she'll ignore msgs that simply say "hang the bastard" so none of those will see the light of day - If you don't have the words, just send her the link to the above story (the original from the lawyers group), she won't "send out the hounds" - I say it this way because I want her to have to respond to all who contact her. And I know she'll read the good ones, at the very least. I woo, will message her and will phone her and ask all the question. OK? (The "ayes" have it.)
Have called the Mounties (RCMP) - no callback yet, looking for a formal contact to whom we can send msgs and letters (and calls)l

indeed...right after they frog march his sorry ass to the Hague to stand trial for crimes against humanity AND seize all his millions (or possibly billions) and distribute it to every citizen in the USA who earns less than 100K per year as reparations for the damage he's inflicted on the country.

then that would make you no better than him. I am not in support of what Bush did obviously and I def. think he should pay for his actions -- somehow i believe that watching him humiliated in the public face with an orange prison suit like the one above would be more appropriate. Unless ofcourse you meant it figuratively :-)

well I do and I don't. He has done more damage to the United States than any outside force in history. For him to go to prison he could still have a life of some kind However to see him hanging from a Live Oak Tree well that would be something way diffrent. i would like to see him get put in with Gen-pop That would be to my likeing also

If our government won't prosecute Mr Bush and his gang, I hope some other government will. Anyone who is directly responsible for so much human suffering and death cannot be allowed any chance at another swing at mass murder.

one small problem, Bush isn't seeking asylum in Canada. If he was then Canada could arrest him at the request of our state department. It is a nice thought, but....anyway the Bush family bought almost a million acres in Paraguay and has filled it with troops, with the blessing of Paraguay. He is leaving and has created his own fiefdom. egad!

I would love to see this! Get Cheney as well. We may not have the balls to treat these people like the thugs they are, but there are people in the world that will. In the end, the irony of their lives should be the only countries that would allow them safe passage, are the thug-like nations of the world. North Korea, China, Iran, etc.

I'm working on it from this end. It's likely that the visit will happen, but our voices of disapproval will certainly be heard. I've posted links to the Mayor and the most effective Councillor, above. Am working on an RCMP (Mounties) contact today. Luck needed. Will keep hounding them. I know one of the lawyers (not real well, but enough) so I'm going to phone her after I get the other names.
Bush 41, Bush 43 and Sir John Major (former PM of Britain) and other dignitaries come up here (to Comox BC) (then places further north, and thru other islands) cuz it's truly among the best sports-fishing areas ever, right up the Alaskan Border.
.
You wouldn't believe the security - the whole town of Comox is surrounded by secret service guys, and they're backed by the Canadian Airforce which lucky for The Bushes, is the centre of Comox (it's "17 Wing" - if I remember correctly). They surround the dignitary-carrying-planes coming in, and escort them to the wharves where their boats are waiting; they protect the fishing "yachts" the whole holiday, at a distance, quietly (I'd bet that each SS guy and Mountie has his/her own fishing gear with 'em) - I get all the details from my sister & bro-in-law, who live right beside them and watch and take notes. If they stand, hidden by trees, they can get photos; but cameras will be seized if they are found out (wonder what they're really doing on that boat... hmmmmm.)(Oprah bought a home up there 2 or 3 yrs ago - extremely quietly - 3 doors down from my sister. Oprah's only been there 4 times in 2 yrs -NEVER announced. It's a beautiful place, architectural-digest material, hidden away on a rough untouched cliff, - on the edge Seal Bay Conservancy Area. So much security it's unbelievable - not like anything we're used to in Canada. But the fishing and hunting brings these guys out of the woodwork.
It you check on Google Maps, the street name is Seabank Road, Courtenay, BC. It's a very pretty picture.
