Exactly! he allows them to believe that they are justified in their hatred for others as well as encourages them to hate. Anybody could do that with any group of people if given total access to them and that's how he does it, by being given total access on radio stations around this country and the only way to stop him is to take back our media from corporations. Limbaugh isn't lying, but he's wrong, using racial percentages of votes for the Democratic party to confirm what his loyal listeners already think, and divide progressives who actually take him seriously. Please don't underestimate the individual and collective intelligence of American voters based on their melanin or race. I happen to be one of many melanin rich voters who'd vote for Kucinich in 2012 without hesitation--because Obama needs to act on behalf of our concerns about health, education, climate change, the economy, and ending wars. Maybe some of current's melanin deficient readers should read about not getting trapped in the faulty logic of race bating... Seriously, I recommend starting with the readings of Tim Wise.

I'm not drawing a conclusion, I'm simply observing trends, here. No one has shown me evidence of the black bloc voting against a black republican candidate over a white democrat.

I'm not saying rush is right, by any stretch, but we have to recognize that this trend exists, and it does so for some reason. I just want to know what that is.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the key to making the thing work. We've all seen the polls that show the channel's viewers are consistently the most ignorant. I see a tie to the fact most are also uber religious. The key "tenet" in most religious is to hate others not in the religion and to hate any who question the idea of religion (atheists or non-theists) (sound familiar?).
Our challenge is how to get to people who are insulated as to their choices of information and belief. If you can't present the options or argue rational/scientific points, how do you hold a real discussion?
I just keep thinking how this muddled thinking allows the conditions we are in (a nation at war that is in the forefront of those contaminating the planet and many of whose citizens have no home, lack food and have no health care). What if we restrained the greedy? What if "unalienable" rights included using tech for the benefit of all? Instead of stupidly spending our one and only KNOWN life on planning for "Candyland" why not instead look at those with the most money and see that they are for living life in the now! If we harness tech for US all, we can each have a fair share and with mutual prosperity, our minor differences (melanin) are easier to overlook! ;-)

Progress in America, or for that matter in the world, has never been easy. As chimps, we prefer to endure, but when we reach our limit, we will exert the effort. When the difference between what the wealthy have and what "the rest" have and you see the extreme disconnect, don't you also just see a guillotine like action in the near future? Those who have voted their allegiance to the rich have to be voted out so we can make some real progress in working together as a people and not wasting more time in hating each other for ??? When you spend any time recognizing the trillions of actions that had to occur or fail to occur in order for us to evolve to a point where we became self-aware, then you have to recognize how totally precious each human being is, and how do we value them? Much, much less than the "tears of the sun" (gold) and yet we can not recreate a human who dies or is killed, regardless of melanin count!

Sorry, must have missed his conviction for war crimes and torture. Last I saw, he got a few months jail time and is out flogging his book, vainly (I hope) trying to "correct" history. We will always have the tapes, but even today we have many who are too lazy to even look for the truth.

We shall see, I think he is on Deaths Bed, but that's just me...

It is not the man who is the important one, it is the people who are receptive to his brand of hate. How long before we recognize that when we co-operate, we can be at our best. If you served in the military, you know first hand that the color of skin does not determine who you can trust when the need arises. Hate is great for the ruling class because the division below means they can get away with corruption above.

But isn't that exactly the way it has to go? We are the species that hates to review history, so are doomed to repeat it. We fell for the lies and now the deck is stacked against US. Now imagine yourself some poor guy/gal in Libya last year? Walk anywhere and see all you can see. Is it not true that all you see that is not "natural" was once an idea in the evolved mind of a chimp?

That is my feeling exactly, I always say we all come from the same seeds no matter what those seeds were. We are not born racist, haters, etc. You learn from your parents, family, friends, etc. Hopefully one day the circle will brake and our hearts and minds will see a person instead of what color they are or where they came from.

That place is very close to being and we are creating it through these discussions. We see how people think and whether we agree with them or not before we know the color of their skin or any other nonsensical distinction. We can begin to understand that what is valuable is whether a person believes in democracy and equality for all rather than just wanting to keep spreading hate as a distraction and a cover while they steal anything they can at whatever cost to the Union.

Overreaction might be close to the mark. We have spent so much of our history glorifying distinctions between us. Most of those have been used as a means of control. Some for so long we have forgotten when or why we learned to hate. We need to look at Libya. After 40 years of oppression, they rose up and took down a very well armed dictator. Why? Because they left aside the differences which had been so carefully played as if they were piano keys. Hate of tribes and religion was forgotten and will only arise when those distinctions are remembered. Is there a lesson for US?

A lesson indeed, but it sometimes seems that we are the only ones paying attention...

AND???? Isn't that part of the challenge? "There is nothing so powerful as an idea who time has come", but sometimes a little publicity doesn't hurt! ;-) We may be few here and now, but there are many in this nation and the world who can attest that it is what in the heart and soul of a person that matters, their "character" and not their melanin count!

Sure but we do not have an alternative to the large air headed crowds that Limbaugh has... Let's just keep plugging along and share this news and all the other news posted here at Current with our friends and loved ones... =)

I never thought Fox would let Beck go, but enough people wised up and told the sponsers they were not going to buy and now Beck is history. Like MLK sorta said, we may not live to see the view from the top of the mountain, but we can certainly help move people in that direction!
