ACLU: Obama Continues Bush Abuses

pghtytfan
The ACLU just issued the report 'A Call to Courage: Reclaiming Our Liberties Ten Years After 9/11' which exposes the Obama Administration for not prosecuting any Bush Administration crimes and in many cases (outside of torture and extraordinary rendition) continuing or expanding Bush policies.

    • Leave it to the ACLU. Nothing like spending millions and millions of dollars attacking Catholicism in the US of A while ignoring real world issues impacting millions of people's lives.

      Disregard!

Fine. Accept the bullshit right wing propaganda and don't watch this (which by the way is about the real world issues you think the ACLU doesn't address). What you call "Attacking Catholicism" is the ACLU protecting your religious freedom by keeping it out of government. Ignore the defenders of your liberty and instead follow the right wing path to slavery at your own peril.

      'Everywhere And Forever War

The report begins with an examination of the contention that the U.S. is engaged in a "war on terror" that takes place everywhere and will last forever, and that therefore counterterrorism measures cannot be balanced against any other considerations such as maintaining civil liberties. The report states that the United States has become an international legal outlier in invoking the right to use lethal force and indefinite military detention outside battle zones, and that these policies have hampered the international fight against terrorism by straining relations with allies and handing a propaganda tool to enemies...'

Should be required reading for all. We are doing ourselves no favors by continuing with this supposed "war on terror." Not to mention, this was Bin Laden's stated objective, 'to engage US in various wars', stressing our resources and thereby bankrupting us. Guess what folks? It is working to the degree that it is not even a question and we'd rather downgrade our citizens than bother to question it.
