"The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin Education Fund will challenge Wisconsin's new Voter ID law based on the state constitution. As a nonpartisan organization that encourages participation in government, the League is concerned about the many citizens who will be disenfranchised by the new law."

We have a written memo, a name and a policy for voter suppression which is a federal offense. Lets see what we can do!!

I mentioned this action in the previous article re this subject but thought it could use a headline of its own. If its too redundant the mods will fix it.
Anyone wishing to support this effort the info to do so can be found on their newsletter.

"I hope you Women in Wisconsin will be part of this Challenge!!!"

    • Republicans have this thing of "i called it first" . They had already been tampering with voted when they made an issue of vote tampering. Every issue they have is a distraction away from things they are already doing that no -one either hasn't noticed or is to afraid to speak out about it.

What do we do with the Sharon Angles, Michele Bachmanns, Sarah Palins and on and on....so long as they have an "R" in front ot their names, they are as bad, IF NOT WORSE, than their fellow Partners-in-Crime!

Now I'll tell you something -- I can put up with being called a lot of 'things' but inferring that I am a 'woman' just like the 3 stooges you named is seriously insulting to me :-) :-)! I am definitely a woman; I am also a bitch; and I am most assuredly a witch, but no matter how hard I might try I could never reach the depths 'those' reach on a daily basis :-).
To recap: there are many good WOMEN in the world -- 'those' most assuredly do NOT qualify!
Pwr 2 all real women peons! Dismember 'those' ... oh wait, there's only one that has to be 'dismembered' since the other 2 never actually made it.

p.s. Do you understand that this entire comment is a joke (thus the happy faces :-)?

    • Maybe it's me but why is it always after the fact that people want to Challenge. Where was the challenge when the bill was being crafted. In my opinion, I don't really believe they are as against it as they speak. Let them produce a bill enslaving women and classifying them as property and see if it makes it into law to be challenged! As always "A day late and a dollar short".

Unfortunately, We the People have little say in what the laws are regarding voting rights, voting districts or ANYTHING pertaining to an American citizen and their right to vote. The more obstacles between you and that voting booth is the Republican Party's objective.

And, as you scroll down a list of States that are bound and determined to make the exercizing of that individual right as difficult as possible, you will see Republican governor after governor, along with their majority State Republican Senate and State HOR that they have rammed through these new "requirements" that force a perspective voter to dance, sing and be skilled in the legalities each state has imposed to
      understand how to actually vote!

Anything the Republicans can to the make it as difficult for the average person to vote, is "Mission Accomplished". It's their agenda.

      nardo1224,
I live in WI. "Where was the challenge when the bill was being crafted?" First, the bill had to be put into law before it could be challenged. Secondly, this legislation was rammed through the GOP dominated assembly and senate with minimal debate allowed by the 2 GOP Nazies running both bodies BEFORE the recalls could occur. The Democratic objections were limited to one hour. This is how WI politics have worked since the Reps took power last November. Do a little research, and you will find out how the democratic process has been circumvented in the past 8 months. There have been numerous court challenges because of this atmosphere.

TLWV was fighting this before hand, this is one of those things that Walker and the GOP majority state houses pushed through. Please remember how the WI GOP house/senate went about their legislative agenda.

I understand and am not knocking all the work that was done leading up to this. I just refuse to feel helpless in these situations and look for some light at the end of the tunnel. I cannot and will not accept the fact that a few people can dictate my life against my will.

Yes, nardo. Sadly, the GOP was in "take no prisoners" mode. They basically locked down the Capital from having any debate or negotiations. That was why our 14 state senators (the Fab 14) fled to IL in an attempt to slow the GOP takeover.

Amen, Leen61! We here in Ohio have our own set of miseries with our SOB John Kasich! Come November though we WILL repeal his stupid bills and TAKE BACK OUR STATE FROM THESE MISCREANTS!

Oh, you should have heard him try to swing a deal to get the bill off the ballot!

He KNOWS him and HIS cronies are in big trouble! They kinda forgot there's Republican union members, too! And they insisted Kasich do something because they see the writing on the wall and it's not good for the Rethuglicans!

The Democrats will be laughing all the way to the polls this November!

And here we think YOU Wiskys have it better since your State Constitution allows you to recall your governor! We have to live with ours for four years!

I guess if we both could realize the strengths of each State we would have more power in the hands of the People!

But, we take what we can get!

      Good luck in January!

I guess WI has the edge because we can get rid of the corrupt pols sooner. We just have to live with the legislation they leave behind and work around it.

"But, we take what we can get!" That's correct! Pursue what ever avenue you're provided.

      "Good luck in January!"

      Thank you, Bill! :)

    • So do I. This looks more and more like Europe in the 30's before the people lost all their rights or whatever rights they had.
Way to go League of Women's Voters, you fought hard for the right to vote and let no man nor woman take that right away from you or anyone else EVER.
