For a congressman who isn’t afraid to start up an investigation, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) sure was cautious when the idea of probing into News Corporation was presented to him.
The House Oversight committee chairman appeared on Fox News Tuesday evening and declined to investigate the Murdoch corporation. News Corp. is facing allegations of whether the company broke the Foreign Corrupt Practices Law and hacked into the phones of 9/11 victims.
Oversight committee ranking member Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and other members of his panel called on Issa to probe News Corp earlier in the week. But the California Republican seemed disinterested in fulfilling their hopes.
“This is being looked at by the Justice Department,” Issa said to anchor Bret Baier, who the congressman praised for asking the question about his employers. “This is being looked at by the Senate, and we’re keeping and eye on it. But at the same time, this is a story about a unit in another country. And we want to make sure we don’t enter the ground that is most inappropriate for us, which is we don’t start picking on media whether they’re the left or the right just because we can.”
Issa’s decision to “not pick on the media” contrasts with his to demand a retraction from the New York Times reporting on his conflict of interests in late August. And when interviewed last year by Think Progress, Issa stated that he trusts News. Corp because he “personally knows Rupert Murdoch.”

Is this another case of someone's words not intended to be factual'? Fear of appearing to be picking on media is not justification for lack of oversight. Investigating crimes is not picking on the possible criminals. It's what he and his committee are supposed to do.
What is he saying? Picking on media? Don't let any of them commit crimes. The fact that he turns a blinds eye to distorted facts spun as news, is astounding. But, turning a blinds eye to corruption and the 'real' crime of breaking the Foreign Corrupt Practices Law is an "Assault on Reason" and US.
IMHO we should not move along to the 'real' wrongs any longer. Shame on Congressman Issa! It's his job to provide oversight and hold people accountable, when they do wrong. If he can't do the job, he should resign and let someone else do that job.
In his position, Justice isn't an option! It's a 'requirement'!

Take the blinders off. There's a case that pundits call much more damaging than Watergate (ever heard of that?). It's called Fast and Furious and American Border patrol agents and Mexican nationals are dying because of it. White House turning in completely redacted documents months after their request.
Redacted means blacked out.

What does this have to do with his ability to investigate News Corp? Does he need more help? More than one investigation can go on at one time. I never suggested not to investigate other crimes.
You throwing stones does not lessen what I said about News Corp and the false 'don't wanna pick on the media' comment.

Too busy fabricating the new red scare inspired by Blahmin the queen of the blank stare. An investigation should be launched into how well he knows Dupert Warloch and why he "trusts" him... How much does "trust" cost these days?

"Darrell Issa Hit With Ethics Complaint By Liberal Advocacy Group"
The Hill:
A liberal advocacy group is filing an ethics complaint against Rep. Darrell Issa, alleging that the California Republican has repeatedly used his public office for personal gain.
The group, American Family Voices, is planning to file the complaint with the House Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) on Tuesday.
