Los Rodeos, Tenerife’s North airport is, unfortunately, famous for the fateful accident, which occurred on March 27, 1977. A KLM 747 and a Pan Am 747 collided on a crowded, foggy runway in Tenerife, Canary Islands. The KLM jumbo preparing for take-off clipped the Pan-Am plane, which was taxiing across the runway.
