    • This shall be my last comment in this subject since there is so much already said that I feel I'm beginning to be redundant with my arguments either pro or con.

      I wish for all here to consider where we would be today IF what has been done to eradicate viral diseases had been left on the "burner" waiting for a vaccine to be maufactured that was 100% safe AND effective for an entire population?

      It's a lassic case of "damned if you do and damned if you do" scenario.

      Perhaps there is one way of looking at it as those who do pay the ultimate "price" with their lives by receiving a vaccine, their death might not be for naught, since countless lives were saved from a terrible disease and possibly death.

      A sacrifice for the many to continue on living.

      Joe versus the volcano.

      Unless you're Joe, that is!

      So, the BIG question to be asked is, "Would you lay your life down for you fellow human beings? Your brothers and sisters?" We give up our lives for one another in war...is it that much different than say, dying from being given a dose that is helping many, many others to live?

      Polio Research

      With the menace of polio growing, Sabin and other researchers, most notably Jonas Salk in Pittsburgh and Hilary Koprowski and Herald Cox in New York and Philadelphia, sought a vaccine to prevent or mitigate the illness.It is the oral polio vaccine. The Sabin vaccine consists of weakened forms of the viruses that cause polio. It protects the body against polio without causing the disease. In 1955, Salk's "killed" vaccine was released for use. It was effective in preventing most of the complications of polio, but did not prevent the initial, intestinal infection. The Sabin vaccine is is easier to give than the earlier vaccine, developed by Jonas E. Salk in 1954, and it's effects last longer. In addition, those who received the Salk vaccine could pass on the polio virus. Sabin first tested his live attenuated oral vaccine at the Chillicothe Ohio Reformatory in late 1954. From 1956-1960 he worked with Russian colleagues to perfect the oral vaccine and prove its extraordinary effectiveness and safety. The Sabin vaccine worked in the intestines to block the poliovirus from entering the bloodstream. It was in the intestines, Sabin had discovered, the poliovirus multiplied and attacked. Thus, the oral vaccine broke the chain of transmission of the virus and allowed for the possibility that polio might one day be eradicated.

      Between 1955-1961, the oral vaccine was tested on at least 100 million people in the USSR, parts of Eastern Europe, Singapore, Mexico and the Netherlands. The first industrial production and mass use of Oral Poliovirus Vaccine (OPV) from Sabin strains was organized by Soviet scientist Mikhail Chumakov.[2][3] This provided the critical impetus for allowing large scale clinical trial of OPV in the United States in April 1960 on 180,000 Cincinnati school children. The mass immunization techniques that Sabin pioneered with his associates effectively eradicated polio in Cincinnati. Against considerable opposition from The March of Dimes Foundation, which supported the relatively effective killed vaccine, Sabin prevailed on the Public Health Service to license his three strains of vaccine. While the PHS stalled, the USSR sent millions of doses of the oral vaccine to places with polio epidemics, such as Japan, and reaped the humanitarian benefit. Indeed it was not clear to many that the vaccine was an American one, financed by US dollars, but not available to ordinary Americans.

      Sabin also developed vaccines against other viruse diseases, including encephalitis and dengue. In addition, he has investigated possible links between viruses and some forms of cancer.

      Even though, at the time, scientists were at the verge of breakthroughs in furthering the use of anti-viral vaccines, one must be aware that the study of diseases is an INEXACT science. But weighing lives lost to viral infections versus the loss of life during trials cannot be in doubt. MORE people are alive today due to the manufacture and testing than would have survived had NOTHING been done. It is better to err on the side of the common good for all Mankind than to wait until something better comes along.

      There IS one thought EVERYONE should take into consideration. Even though we are all related genetically, there is more than enough differences between each individual that there really is no "one cure for all". This is why there will be a time in the not so far future that a vaccine will be TAILORED to each human being....allowing for a vaccine to be created with YOUR name on it in that it will not be for use by anyone else! Today, vaccines are distributed via a "shot gun" method, in that one 'generalized" vaccine is distributed to a population. These days of "bargain basement" vaccines are numbered.

      P.P.S. Even though a monkey may be infected by HIV, that does NOT mean it can be TRANSMITTED to humans. It doesn't work that way. It could take DECADES of human and monkey interaction before a virus can jump from one species to another. Mutations of viruses normally do not happen that quickly.

    • I'll don't like being a party pooper, but the "people" behind a lot of this Bruhaha about the HPV vaccine being a hoax are some of the most shameless, snake oil salesmen/women I have ever seen...on T.V, online and they even have radio programs pushing this product or that or the most famous money-maker scheme of all...SEMINARS!

      These "experts" make so much noise it's deafening! They're creating, for themselves, an empire of loyal subjects that borders on a religious tone. Only it's not Praise the Lord, but Praise the Doctor, Hallelujah! Pass the collection plate!

      I don't think I'll be hooking my wagon to anyone of these, "Rising Stars" any time soon.

If the same story is being "published" word for word, verbatim, by several "experts" or those that don't even call themselves experts but "concerned citizens", I suggest to tread lightly and be wary! There's quite a few "landmines" that will cost you plenty both financially and possibly healthwise, too!

      P.P.S. I LOVE how Doctor Leonard Coldwell has Cee Lo Green's song, "Fuck You", playing in the background!       I do agree that injections should not be manditory, it should be up to the parents. If the drupg totally prevented cervical cancer or even just genital warts, parents my consider the vaccine similar to all other childhood vaccines. Such is not the case, hence vaccination should definitely be optional. (by the way, the shot is administered early so as to be prior to sexual activity, which makes it most effective).
      My point here is that false information diminishes the correct reasoning for this not to be manditory

      Actually, that is not a correct statement in any sense of the word.
      from the CDC:

      "Deaths

      As of June 22, 2011 there have been a total 68 VAERS (vaccine adverse event reporting system) reports of death among those who have received Gardasil® . There were 54 reports among females, 3 were among males, and 11 were reports of unknown gender. Thirty two of the total death reports have been confirmed and 36 remain unconfirmed due to no identifiable patient information in the report such as a name and contact information to confirm the report. A death report is confirmed (verified) after a medical doctor reviews the report and any associated records. In the 32 reports confirmed, there was no unusual pattern or clustering to the deaths that would suggest that they were caused by the vaccine and some reports indicated a cause of death unrelated to vaccination." (there have been approximately 35million doses of this vaccine administered as of June of this year)

      I would think that if I administered 30,000,000 vaccines of distilled water the odds of a few dying from that would amount to 32, plus or minus.

      Would you please answer this question?

      If, after further study and reflection on your part that if you came to the conclusion the HPV vaccine was far less of a threat than contracting one or more of the four known viruses it protects humans from, would you make the choice to have your children immunized?

      P.S. Bachmann is feeding off the fears of parents to garner votes for herself. She's WORSE than any disease that can inflict harm....her motivation is for power and greed. NOT to protect ANYONE'S children. I am aware that I just made a blanket statement, but I think it's within the realm of possibilities when it comes to what drives a politician to do what they do for no other reason but self promotion and aggrandizement. For her to take advantage of the situation is only because she's using it against her adversary...Rick Perry! Her story would change with the winds if Perry had come out against it....then she would have been all for it!

      I read up on those that are "Peer Review" originated. For every "paper" published, there are so many GIFTED scientific experts that LIVE for the opportunity to rip apart a claim made by other scientists in their field of study.

      This is how it should be accomplished. Checks and balances is key to the furthering of knowledge in any particular scientific field.

      So much of this can not be found searching through Google or your local newspaper. It can be located, but it most likely is so technically worded that one would need a PhD to decipher what is written!

      Most of what I do attempt to "audit" just flies over my head like a supersonic jet plane....but I give it a go anywho!

      It really helps in my love of Latin to "tag along" as I try to make a stab at what they are actually saying to one another.

      Sometimes my head will start to spin from all the techno-babble!

      What concerns me the MOST about the HPV vaccine is.......

      If a woman is allergic to YEAST they SHOULD NOT receive the vaccine!!!!!

      My wife loves to watch Dr. Oz!!! If he was to say that eating dog poo was good for you, she would be on her way down to the dog pound to load up on it!

      Dr. Oz ALWAYS talks about Flaxseed. Just sprinkle it on your cereal in the morning, or oatmeal or just about anything! He suggested two tablespoonfuls as a good amount to ingest daily!

      My wife diligently went down to the local GNC store and purchased a large container of it and proceeded to imbibe.

      Five days later, she was in physical distress! She was about to call our family physician to schedule a near emergency appointment when I interceded by asking, "OK, what have you changed in your diet?". She then explained to me what Dr.Oz "prescribed".

      It took me two minutes to find out that 25% of all humans are ALLERGIC to flaxseed in any form!

      Needless to say, within a day she was her old (OOPS)...YOUNG self again!

      That wise old saying is so apropos.....take EVERYTHING you hear, see, smell or touch using CAUTION. And, if it makes you feel better, take it with a grain of salt, too!

    • It's wrong to mandate that a 6 year old girl get the HPV shot before entering school. This Lone Star Tea Bagger is only interested in money for his campaign and his pockets.
      Someone should give this knuckle head a good shot in his ass. Use a horse sized needle and I second KB's free morphine for all. Maybe Perry should get the morphine.

      In the video I share here it is stated that what Jenny Thompson offers, there is NO REAL EVIDENCE to support her claims.

      As of August 31, 2011, over 30 million doses have been distributed.

      The numbers do not support what some claim. I'm very sorry that people have died, but the odds they could have died from some other UNKNOWN cause is very real!

      Just like when the flu vaccine is given to the elderly in nursing homes and a "resident" collapses from heart failure hours AFTER receving the flu shot!

      And things may...or may NOT have a correlation one to the other!

      Sometimes there are no absolute answers.....nothing of empirical evidence to prove something one way or the other.

      Yes, I read the snopes take on it, too. There has been a mixture of truth, rumor and lies regarding this vaccine and a lot of other medications that have been given the green light by the FDA. There are a lot of things about the FDA and CDC that cause me to question their regulations. Won't even go there; this entire post will get way out of hand. But I'm sure you are aware that there are foxes guarding the henhouses throughout every government department.

      I don't know about blaming the CDC for something that is one of THE most difficult diseases to diagnose, even to this day!

      If you do not live in an area where it has been known to be carried by the deer tick, you'll STILL most likely be misdiagnosed!

      And how do they figure out if a person has contracted it? By observation and questions asked of the patient.

      So, unless you made a special trip down to Georgia for the CDC to poke and prod your hind end, how on earth would they make that call whether you have it or not?

      Last week I was watching an episode of American Greed. Their topic was a pain medicine that was being promoted by one of the major drug manufacturers. This particular drug was not only ineffective for the purpose they were pushing it but it killed and maimed many Americans. The company was fined a huge sum of money but no one went to jail. Every executive from that company should still be in prison today along with every sales rep that pushed it and every doctor that prescribed it. Each and everyone knew it was wrong and they all did it for the money.

      I never, ever trust BIG HEALTHCARE and America needs to question everything that they tell us. It might be that this is the safest vaccine and save many lives but the way Gov. Perry got it into use is highly questionable and raises numerous red flags.

      Which is why I don't know why (other than being evil) they won't legalize medicinal marijuana at least, nationwide...

      I am well aware of how pain medication works. I try to keep my posts brief and to the point, when I get long winded I get off track and lose focus on my topic.

      I believe that all drugs should be decriminalized, why should our government have the right to legislate what we put into our bodies? My father died of pancreatic cancer a couple years ago and there are many studies of how medical marijuana could have helped him. He refused my offer to get him some simply because it is illegal. no other reason. His death was painful and it devastated me having to watch my hero go through that.

      My father was the toughest man I ever knew. When I was a kid I remember he had his wisdom teeth removed without Novocain so he could go back to work. The only time in my life I ever heard my father express pain was the last couple weeks of his life. In my 45 years I never heard him say ouch. The pain in his eyes in his last days will haunt me the rest of my life. Knowing that something as simple as putting a little pot in a vaporizer could have helped but some people refuse to allow it really pisses me off.

      PS I have never in my life taken an illegal drug. I would not begin taking them if they were legal. However, if I am ever diagnosed with cancer I will use it until the day I die.

When good people can't have something they need, something that can simply and easily make the last days and hours of their lives bearable on the one hand, and when vaccines and drugs are forced upon people against their wills and without their informed consent on the other, something is terribly wrong.
