34% say country would be better off under Hillary Clinton: poll

More than a third of Americans said that if Hillary Clinton had been elected president in 2008, the country would be in better shape than it is right now under President Barack Obama's leadership.
The Bloomberg poll showed that Clinton, currently serving as secretary of state, garnered a 64 percent favorability rating, making her the most popular national politician in the country.
Thirty-four percent expressed wishful thinking about a Clinton presidency, up from the 25 percent who responded the same in July 2010.
In the 2008 election, Obama won the majority of delegates necessary to clinch the Democratic nomination after the primaries. During the drawn-out primary battle, Clinton actually won the popular vote, though Obama won 29 states to her 21.
Only 13 percent of respondents said that things would be worse under a Clinton White House.
It's not just Democrats expressing buyers' remorse either: 39 percent of Republicans said that Clinton would run the country better than Obama has.
“Some of her appeal is that she is not Barack Obama,” said J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co., the group that conducted poll.
No matter what the public's opinion of her, any wishful thinking will remain a fantasy.
“It’s below zero,” Clinton told CNN when asked about the chance of her challenging Obama in 2012. “One of the great things about being secretary of state is I am out of politics. I am not interested in being drawn back into it by anybody.”

People are always whining about what might have been. As the saying says "Grass always looks greener on the other side". There was no tea party when Clinton's husband was in office and there were at least still a few moderate Republicans left. Obama has to work with anarchists who don't give a damn about this country or the people who voted them into office. Stop the whining. It's just another Republican scheme to sow dissent within the Democratic party. What we need to do is get out there and help him pass the jobs bill. The weaker they make the Presidency look , the weaker the voters are, and corporations would get exactly what they want...total control of the government. I plan to support the President's reelection. I don't want a secessionist or a buffoon in the
White House. - 8 months ago

Like Bing Crosby sang "You got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, don't mess with mister in-between" when reporting that Obama's approval rating dropped to 40% that leaves out Congress approval rating is only 15% which is almost 3 times worse.

had Hillary won the nomination we might have McCain as president - both of these things didn't happen. She didn't win the nomination, Obama did. To what avail do we diss Obama? do you want Romney or Perry elected pres next year? These are our options: Obama or a Republican. Wishful thinking is just that - wishful. So how about we push out congressional people to work with the president and get things happening for the benefit of all of us instead of engaging in tearing down Obama and consequently elevating the GOP

Hillary was the far better choice. She began the fight for single payer health care and would have AT LEAST fought for a puplic option! Also, having already once faced the republican-fascist-tactics, she would have known how absurd it is to try and reason with them like Obama foolishly continues to do.
At least there can be no question that she (has a pair) unlike Obama who we all now know has a Barbie-Doll-Crotch!

Her health care plan sank like a stone in clear water because of republican opposition. That bill was the first time health care was successfully changed in 60 years. If we had a stronger Speaker and not such a weak-kneed one in Boehner, we would get a lot more done. Blame Obama all you want, but with Pelosi they got over 400 bills passed. We would have universal health care were it not for Conservative Dems who vote with the Republicans. If we had tried for that the entire bill would have gone the way of every administration's bill in the last 6 decades..nowhere.Romney is too weak to support his own success in Massachusetts and here in Texas, we still get poor care . In fact we have the largest number of uninsured in the country. Like the saying goes, "Be careful what you wish for".

Does anyone remember how Hillary was vilified by the Republican party during the 90'?
She was accused of being everything from a witch to a bitch and a murderer. Her husband was impeached by a radical , Republican House of Representatives for having oral sex. Anyone who believes that she wouldn't have received the same dismissal and abuse that Obama has received from the Rethugs is indulging themselves in a seriously deluded case of wishful thinking. - 8 months ago

Yes, they were treated terribly and the press helped by printing all of the ignorant allegations that popped up, just like gossip magazines. Starr spent millions of tax payer dollars trying to prosecute the Clintons and it went nowhere.Just like that birther nonsense. These leeches make up all kinds of stuff primarily as money-making schemes.
There is a lack of common sense in this notion that she would have done any better. The focus of attack would be her husband all over again. That's how they sank Geraldine Ferraro's chances when she ran on the ticket as VP.
The same faction that claims they want smaller government still see women in subserviant roles. Sad to say ,but women like Bachman see themselves the same way. I find it almost laughable that Obama's been criticized for running a boys club when 70% of his appointees are women. We have 3 women on the Supreme Court, Sebellious over Health, Jackson at the EPA, the woman on Commerce, and Dr, Rice as ambassador to the UN.Hell, the first law he signed was the Lilly Ledbetter Equal Pay Act.The rumor mongers are all bought and paid for. Remember Judith Miller , anyone?
I would have gladly voted for her had she won the nomination, but the fact is she didn't. The press may have played a part in her loss because they too have antiquated ideas about the role of women. With the level of scrutiny the Obama's have and the level of vitriol, I say America did itself a favor. Not many people could withstand this level of scrutiny' It's harder to get rid of Bushes policies. They have permeated our politics since Reagan and the Republicans plan to keep it that way with the help of Conservative Democrats. - 8 months ago

Unbelievable crying.
Would the country have been better off with McCain/Palin? I could just hear this site if everything was identical as we speak with them at the helm. Did they ask stuporous America that question? So, only the POS can move mountains?
I didn't give him my shovel.
This mess was caused by overspending-personally, locally, county, state, and federal. I have never in my life seen such stupid spending than what has occurred within the last 20 years. New this, new that, buy this, buy that...more, more, more...bigger, bigger, bigger. I just loved going to "environmentalist hosted" parties in their 6,000 square foot houses with 2 SUVs in the garage. We ate sushi.
Sloppy credit with inflating wages and prices. Suddenly 3% to 5% annual increases started to pile up...the markets didn't increase. Ooops.
I just got back from Honduras. My son is trying to save the world down there teaching. $1,500.00 average annual family wage-6 bucks a day a good income. I want to start a revolution. Very little private property. What if I purchased and gave someone an acre of land if he promises to raise tobacco and start a little cigar company-just for the hell of it. Some sit all day and get paid 18 cents for every100 cigars they roll for the local cigar "export mafia." Pathetic. Those cigars cost 8 bucks a pop here. If that man or my son disappears...We would enter through Guatemala via Mexico.
Hillary could have fixed all what?
Grow up.

They despise Hillary. The treatment would have been worse because she's a woman and a Clinton. They hate her because she worked on the staff of Barbara Jordan who almost single-handedly got them to impeach Nixon. They hate Jordan, even though she's dead now, and even tried to take away her name from the law school in Texas where there's a chair named for her.Hillary would have caught more hell than Obama. I'll check my facts, but I read her book and think I'm correct about the Repubs hatred for her and its genesis.
