Paul, speaking at an event hosted by the Christian Science Monitor on Wednesday, said his libertarian politics allowed him to see eye-to-eye with liberal counterparts on issues like war - and quipped that he'd have to consider creating a "Department of Peace" if he brought Kucinich, a frequent critic of American military action abroad, on board.
"You've got to give credit to people who think," he said.
"Being pragmatic is about forming coalitions," he added. "I probably work with coalitions better than the other candidates. I don't think I've said anything negative here about the president."

I would consider putting Ron Paul in my cabinet. Actually I would lock him in a cabinet out in my shed so can no longer harm the country that I love.

His campaign spokesperson said that this was a joke, and that he would not consider Dennis Kucinch. I think he's pandering to the far left.

That's nice. I still would never consider voting for Ron Paul. I would vote for Dennis Kucinich though.

Well, I hope Kucinich likes Galveston, Texas because the only White House this nut will see will be his own residence in Texas.

Fantasy from a losing political candidate---gee, I'm so impressed. It must be nice to be able to spend millions of dollars perenially running for an office you can never be elected to , in order to massage your ego. All that money could have been used to help the poor or disaster victims or to keep the innocent off death row: but , no, it's better to waste it all on delusions of grandure.

Well, that's something Obama wouldn't do.
If you've ever had the pleasure of seeing both in the same assemblage and checked the body language, it's actually startling.
Why is that Obama seems more comfortable with Eric Cantor at his right hand, than having Dennis Kucinich anywhere in the room? - 8 months ago

Excellent point. As much as I disagree with Ron Paul, he is consistent and principled, just like Dennis Kucinich. I think people of that caliber are considered political freaks and make their peers feel like they are wearing a hair shirt when they are in the same room.

I fully agree.
The chances of electing a completely principled man to the Presidency are almost functionally impossible given the colossal funding required for a national campaign and the demands of the interest groups that dominate the political and economic agenda of the United States.
If, by chance one were to be elected, and even more remarkably, be able to carry through a program of principled reform, it would completely unhinge the current structure of the massive US spoils system.
I'd vote for that, but far more folks who depend on that corrupt system would see it differently. - 8 months ago

Paul isn't playing to win. He's playing to make a political statement. Saying he would appoint Kucinich dooms him from getting the nomination.

Not playing to win the Republican ticket maybe. But seeing as how the Republican primary is only barely correlated to the interests of voters, that really doesn't matter.

It would win him the general election for sure. He is in it to win it and he can do it saying statements like that because the rest of the field is so weak. Look at the other candidates running. Need I say clowns (and this guys is the "front-runner".)

He shot himself in the leg with Kucinich. If he brings down Perry, Romney gets the nomination.

No actually being Ron Paul dooms him from getting the nomination. His own party would find a way to plunge a dagger in his back just before the nomination. He would end corporate subsidies and massive defense spending. This is against the philosophy of the Republican elites and they would not allow it.

How is he shooting himself in the foot? Dennis Kucinich is the Ron Paul of the democratic party. And they both agree we should bring the the troops home and end the fed. Ron Paul would only work with him on those issue and not anything domestically.
Ron paul will take down both of them if given a chance. But as you can see the media isnt giving ron paul a fair shot. deliberately skipping him on questions he is an expert at like the fed. The media is content with keeping the status quo thats why the tout rick perry and mitt romney as the front-runnners. they know ron paul will be one who will actually change things

There was a lot of speculation and hope that these two would share the ticket in 2008.
In general, I have no problem supporting Ron Paul for president, but the fact that he's playing along with the two-party system knowing how corrupt and pointless it is rather than running as an independent is rather curious to me.

Yeah, maybe, but he wouldn't listen to him or implement his policies.
Ron Paul just is not a viable option. Speaking truth to power is commendable, but it doesn't make up for the fact that this man would pull us back to the 19th century if he could.
