The part of this that is the biggest joke, is that the right wants to change nothing about "trickle down" except give MORE TAX BREAKS to the rich and stiff the rest of US for the bills!

Why are we not talking about the impact this "party of no" is having on the US competitiveness. Even in a world wide depression, we are at the bottom for creating new jobs and tech. The world doesn't care about our internal problems, especially if we are too stupid to figure it our and correct it ourselves! The world looks at our proposed leaders from the right and they are "scared" at the nut jobs that want to have their turn to "go to war" as the solution to our problems. I hope we are now at the point of "subering" up, you know like when you drink too much (although at the time it did not seem to be nearly enough) and wake up next to a partner who is so repulsive you wanted to chew your am off so you could escape at least partially intact?

I know, and for some reason they think we are the ones with all the money... =(

Colbert certainly knows how to boil an issue down to a succinct point better than anyone... and make you laugh hysterically ,even when you don't want to.

Why are we not talking about it? Because we are more terrified of the repercusions than the rest of the world. I'm holding my breath waiting for the American people to reject these people and their insanity and set us back on the course of economic recovery. But then,I'm trusting in the common sense of the people and I'm not sure my trust is well placed.

Hey, he's a rich guy! I love his "I am a right winger" persona and he is just too perfect in showing US how ludicrous and dangerous to the health of our nation and our society concentration of wealth and no jobs can be. We are not a patient people and we have the ability to communicate with one another as we never have. Maybe an idea is to see what it is that could be done to improve our social media as a means to organize (know any unions) and protest (union help, again! ;-) We, the people, have reps, but as they are too subject to money influence, how can we make our combined voices heard?

When you pigeon-hole an entire poltical party and call them stupid, you don't make things better but worse and end up doing the exact opposite of what you set out to do. The best way to renforce someones view is to tell them their wrong or stupid. It doesn't matter if your right either.

I could agree with you a lot more if I hadn't watch the Republican "clown acts" that pass for "debates" (booing one of our soldiers in a war zone to protect our skinny asses is but the most egregious of the "acts", so proof is "out there" if you will but open your eyes and ears to what is said and done to "win" our votes and people boo?? Truly the Republicans have earned by visible proofs that they are not "pro-jobs" and are, most definitely, "the party of the rich" at whatever the cost to the "public"!

The essence of my point eludes you, so I'll elaborate.

First, those are people booing, they call themselves Reps. Those reps are not every rep, so they don't speak for every rep. When you go past the titles there are idiots in all walks of life.

Clarification, I'm not a rep and have nothing whatsoever to gain from defending them, and I'm not defending them in fact, or myself for that matter.

Secondly, please don't talk condescendingly towards me with "if you will but open your eyes" Ole Wise One. Lest you (ironically) do the exact opposite of what you want to do.

Ultimately people will do what they want you might say. True dat DC, but if your goal is to heal the divide, then your better off refraining from name calling and all manner of polarizing language. If you want war and/or have an unconscious need to stimulate your pre-frontal cortex, then you will have it, for those soldiers you speak of are run mostly by the GOP at this point, and the GOP likes conflict, it is what they feed off of.

Thank you for the return condescension, I may well deserve it. So you say "no one speaks for everyone" (duh, hadn't thought of that one! ;-). If we were all peaceful and milk toast, then maybe we would "merit" change? Are you serious? We live in a world where some have forgotten that this is OUR country, as a united people. It belongs to ALL of US and not any group. My personal goal is to get discussion going because I have faith in the wisdom and ingenuity of the American people. We can get it right if we can focus on the goal (national prosperity for all) instead of who is right or wrong in a particular situation). I do not believe that anywhere in our history their has been a time when change has not required "civil disobedience" to get the attention of the people to the issue. I believe this "Arab Spring" for the US will follow a similar path. A nation divided cannot long stand and I've done my time to protect this country, so I have a very personal investment in seeing the nation prosper! ;-)

If we could get people to stop treating each other so horribly entirely that would be a whole lot better, but until then the damage of "greater evil" is much worse and until that is eliminated then the other "lesser evil" would be easier to curtail so that all evil could be gotten rid of completely.

And, the most silly thing of all is that the rest of US are like the Egyptians, we are held to rules that we neither believe in nor respect. I'm hopeful that social media will allow "the truth will out" to become a reality. We need to run our government on fact and science and get these "holier than thous" out of public power. I agree. They want to put women back in the kitchen (and the bedroom) "where we belong." The anti-choicers couldn't give two hoots about the living, breathing human babies and mothers (and fathers in some cases) who are doomed to a life of agony, with zero chance to live happy and productive lives.
I don't think that abortion should EVER be pushed onto anyone else; but when other people decide what goes on in my uterus, they've crossed the line.
These anti-choicers have no respect for true humanity - one misstep and they say: "hang 'em high." Pure cognitive dissonance.

They can find every way imaginable to raise funds...

It costs far more to put someone on death row than it costs to incarcerate them until they die of old age.
