FAITH in AMERICA: The Call Out: Rick Santorum ... blinded by bigotry.

Not only was it heart breaking to hear the crowd in Orlando at last night’s GOP debate boo when openly gay soldier Steven Hill asked the following question:...

But equally as mind-boggling to hear Rick Santorum’s response.  For a man who is for our current war in Iraq, it was if Santorum was booing the soldier, himself.  No shushing the crowd or even taking a minute to thank the soldier who has put his life on the line to protect our country.  The person on the end of that question, to Santorum, was not a person at all, but a symbol of sex and a lifestyle his religion not only does not condone, but condemns.

The more we hear public figures sexualize the LGBT community, the further we get to full equality and frankly, being represented accurately.  Futhermore, it is no coincidence that we are continually seeing the horrific result of Santorum’s attitude in youth, most recently in the suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer.  It has to stop.

On this Friday we are calling you out, Rick Santorum, for being blinded by anti-gay bigotry. And we are thanking you, supporters and friends, for standing behind Faith in America to help end this kind of harm the LGBT community and youth face each day.
