There are a disproportionate number of psycopaths in politics. They are drawn to the profession by the allure of attention and power.

"Have the psychopaths taken over America?"
Of course they have, but it didn't begin with Nixon and Reagan. Psychopaths run the show because they're willing to take risks, kill people, and since they don't care about anyone; nothing really gets in their way, or in their conscience way if you like. It's imperative that psychopaths unite, but united they're still psychopaths and thus they'll still be prone to kill each other, and turn on each other ultimately, unless they can enact some safeguard amongst themselves, whatever that might be.
Evolution is a very slow process (collectively) and the hippies utterly failed in that their quixotic psycho/spiritual ways left them weak. The GOP has ray guns and the hippies are an endangered species. "All We Need is Love", yeah right! How's that working for ya? When liberals can master the "Art of War" in all it's subtleties, then they might stand a chance, until then say hi to Mr. BigGuns and Mr. BigGold. There's an excellent "Squidbillies" episode where these hippies have gone to the forest to protest the cutting down of trees. One of them gets sawed in half.
But that's War, there's all kinds of other ways to look at it that are completely valid. There's a lot of name calling I notice, but doing such is more polarizing than healing. Alas, some would rather have us be polarized of course. Again, I know there's more to be said. But Hamlet was a "Revenge Tragedy".
This isn't directed at you V, but I had to respond to one of the posts, nothing personal. Take care.

So In the aftermath of Troy Davis's execution - it's time for the United States to do some soul searching. Every nation is in constant change - as Grace Slick said, "Life is change" - and our culture changed for the more compassionate and better with the New Deal, and changed again for the more brutal and selfish with the Reagan Revolution. So what's next? Will we become a nation of people who genuinely care for each other, and builds institutions to respect and help each other - or a brutal, libertarian nation where it's "every man for himself," the country is run by psychopaths, and as Ron Paul implied, we're all free to die like dogs in the gutter? The choice is ours - and the coming election will have a lot to do with determining that future.

Unfortunately, I think we will have to regress to "Jungle Law" once again. I don't see how we will progress forward until we go back to the "bad-old-days" so people remember why we have the social programs to begin with.

A very hard lesson to learn, but the majority of the people no longer remember what it was like for the working man before the unions or minimum wage; or how our seniors who had the misfortune to outlive their families, or did not have families to support them, were forced to live. I guess all our seniors want to go back to living in chicken coops (not many still exist) or tarpaper shacks.

I don't think they want that either, however, if they keep voting in the GOP/TP, that will be the end result. It is a real shame too because so many of them do still remember what things were like in the past.

Why should someone be on death row for 20 years, if their guilty they should be hung the next day, or throw out the death sentence altogether. I don't support Perry at all but his job is not to question our legal system, so why should he loose any sleep over the death of someone on death row. After 20 years someone changing their mind about a death sentence could be influenced by their Church or preacher, that doesn't make the person less guilty.

No one is listening to the seniors, the News Media controls what is heard by the general public. Look at the march on Wall street. Without the Unions Walmart can do anything they want, to make more money. They have been allowed to do almost anything that they want already. Unions keep non union company's like Walmart from having child labor and many other things that they would do if Unions did not exist. Money is controlling everything and that has to change, or we will destroy our self's.

On this one Hartmann is wrong. Should a soldier defending his Country loose sleep over killing someone, NO. Should a Governor loose sleep, NO . We need to change our laws.
