There are a lot of different traditions in the world, but one is shocking for modern European mind. Did you know that in Bharatpur District of India according to very old tradition families send girls when they hit puberty to brothels?
“Locals mark this rite of passage with a coming of age ceremony called Nathni Utarna – which translates as taking off the nose ring.” Just several years ago this tradition was followed very carefully and many women were sent to the sex trade. Today many volunteers and charity organizations fight to change this tradition. They explain consequences of such actions.
Many girls determine schools and are planning their future life, but their mothers experienced this tradition of themselves and protect young women.
