$27.62/month translates today into $1302.02/month.....which really isn't that affordable.
Given that only one person in the household typically worked back then, and today the average worker in the bottom 90% only makes about $30,000/year before taxes, $15,624 in housing expenses is simply unaffordable on one average income.
Talk about going backwards......

Everything is over inflated these days! I was making 11.70 an hour in the late 70's and early 80's and thought my 400 dollar a month mortgage was outrageous for a 2,000 sq ft house.

$11.70/hour in the late 70's was some seriously good money. According to the BLS that would be $40/hr now (way underestimated), but in actual purchasing power would be more like $90/hr.

Another great show Kenny. I agree Bush should never have given tax cuts durning war time. I know the House will never raise them so we will have to wait till they run out in another year. The pledges the TeaParty House signed is wrong. They don't belong in our government. If we vote the GOP in, our lives will be much worst then they are.
Last episode is making me feel sad. You, Ziggy, Grumpy Old Man and all the charactors will be missed. Perhaps after a break you will do one even if it's not as often. I do understand your working and all you do must make you tired. Glad to hear you will still be posting. LOL

I was really hoping we could get more community video comments, maybe if we get a bunch in this week Ziggy can get enough for a show! WOW! I can only imagine how draining it must be to put together a montage of entertainment AND informative news-worthy shows week after week!
Perhaps, like in the "Big Time" world of producing and delivering a "show", you, Ziggy and company need to "end the season" and enjoy a hiatus prior to cranking up the "wheels of creation" for another run at a new season!
Like "Season 6, Episode 8"....."Season 8, Episode 3".....
EVERYONE needs to take a break to let the creative juices recharge to flow again!
You better NOT "Fade to Black"!!!!
The more people like you voicing your opinions using innovative "vehicles" just might keep the Constitution from being destroyed by the evil, power-mad corporations who ARE the "enemy from within"!

Outrageous how social security is considered an entitlement but corporate welfare isn't. And you know why Cain was handed that poll... to deflect from the truth about the Tea Party and keep everybody guessing. It's just a game. And I was wondering what that picture was too. I thought it was your summer home;-) Thanks for doing this. Oh, and where did Ziggy find that video on housing? Interesting watching it compared to what would be considered modern today... certainly not a built in ironing board. ;-). But wow, 27.00 a month rent!

Wow, I just got up about an hour ago and probably will go back to sleep in another couple (graveyard shift) but down to the number 18 story? Well perhaps I have stepped on some toes, or pissed off the regulars! All in all it's been fun, too much work for too little to show. Two community's that have been asked countless times, here's your chance to participate. Thanks too all that have followed the show for 12 episodes, it's been great fun and I really did appreciate the comments and views. Good luck with whatever you all do for the impending final Great Depression, and remember how many here and friends that you all know that did not VOTE in 2010. You only have yourself's to blame! Bye.

Thanks KB723, ZiggyStrange and I put way to much personal time into providing what Current and msjnews.com have been so gracious to allow a real chance for viewer content to come about. A show where anybody could upload a video comment in a time where Main Stream Media just ignores us all. Perhaps it was just wasting weekend after weekend or day or two off, I see the protests on Wall Street and I am reminded of another time when 2 off my good friends got drafted and paid the ultimate price at a time when they couldn't even Vote. We helped end a War that killed 58,000 Americans, and forced the Elite to drop the age of voting down from 21 to 18. Back then many Americans were quite comfortable in a real Middle Class, but the strategy by the Elite to drop wages and make it so expensive for anyone from the middle or lower classes to go to college and at the same time create a Media that only works for them over the last 40 or so years has obviously worked. I will think long and hard over this work week as to should I just go guerrilla and fight the Power with the military tools that I was trained in, or if Ziggy and I should continue to provide a platform. Have fun everybody, it has been a real trip doing what we were able to do! Love you all, even those on the right I have occasionally had the honor to argue with. I will still be here fighting the good fight I believe in, with posts and comments, but just not as often!

Kenny, check this one out: Republican Mark Warner Wonders Why His Party Spends More Rebuilding Iraq Than on Joplin, Missouri
By Steve Benen | Washington Monthly http://act.alternet.org/go/11449?akid=7615.151431.sViiJx&t=8
Why are repugs willing to approve any amount of money for war and nation building in foreign countries but not willing to spend a dime that is not offset with SS and Medicare cuts in the USA? Can you write a letter to the Prez saying stimulus money will create jobs and then refuse to allow the money to be allocated? When does this become the "t" word? - 8 months ago

Kenny, I will watch it all later. I'm just so sad about the death of Wangari Maathai. She was a true heroine of mine and it was a shock to learn she had been struggling with cancer. I like that and a specific "reader requested" items might give a little more planning time for your producer. I would love to see you do a bit on the "cultural foibles" of our time. You know like the "newspeak" thing from 1984 i.e. we have repugs saying they are the "protectors of the nation" and they spent millions and years failing to find Osama who was camped in our "allies" back yard! and We have the repubs proclaiming to be "religious" as they cheer for death, proclaim dead soldiers are "dogs" revenge, ect. If you did a whole show of these, would anyone start to wake up? Thanks again for getting the word out!

It is eerie how close to the mark "1984" is to the world we inhabit today! War is peace! Love is hate (something the repugs picked up?;-) Opps, I'm guilty of "crimespeak" for even thinking that our lords and masters would allow error to creep in to their master plan! ;-)
