Guns don't kill people, unless they're guns that were part of a botched ATF program and can be used as political fodder by the right. Then - Oh my God! those guns totally killed people!

    • People kill people with many things. Guns are a tool just as cars, knives, hammers etc. are tools. The federal government violating existing laws and used this as an excuse to attempt to further remove our civil rights. If it were all the guns fault you would be able to put one on the table and it would spontaneously fire or there would be no homicides in countries where people do not own guns. Both scenarios are false.
      You cannot walk into a store and walk out with an assault rifle. YOu have to purchase it on a Fed Form 4, submit fingerprints to the ATF, a letter from the chief law enforcement officer where you live attesting to yoru character. The process takes about 2-6 months.
      Firearm owndership equals freedom. Misuse of freedom does occur but no one profers the removal of everyones civil rights as a remedy.

      Most poeple don't know the difference between select fire and semi autos. Because of t.v.and movies they think you can easily convert semi auto to fully auto wich is false.

      Very true. The assault weapons ban said we could not sell or buy guns with evil features. These features had nothing to do with the function or effectiveness of the gun but how it looked. Assault weapons are select fire guns that can only be transferred as I described. Most gun stores do not sell Class III (fully auto) weapons due to the paperwork and turnaround time.
      Gun laws need to be trashed. The BATFE should be a convenience store.

      I thought that was the "job" of an Independent and NOT a Liberal. So, I'm ALWAYS cautious when someone tells me they're a "Liberal". Somehow, I think they don't know what it means to be a TRUE Liberal....even the Conned-Servative kind....which is an oxymoron in my dictionary.

      Now, I'm ALL for locking EVERYONE up and throwing away the "key" IF someone were to use ANY kind of a weapon....knife...ball bat.....frying pan.....grenade....bazooka....RPG....TANK, to harm another human being WHILE committing a crime MOST especially!

      I have been an avid hunter since the age of nine and have NEVER experienced the need to use an automatic weapon to bring down a herd of buffalo in ten seconds or less........for one, it's illegal to bring down more than what a hunting permit says is the limit of a species of critter for my "consumption".

    • If the jackasses at the ATF would've done their job right, the cartels never would've got the guns. Not that it matters much. Everyone knows the Russian mafia supplies the cartels with all the weapons they need. Including full auto AK-47's.

      I would love to own one, but it requires a $300 tax stamp, plus special permission from the ATF, local sheriff, and background check. Too much red tape for me.

      There are more types of AK’s made than I
      have room to name. This particular AK-47 is
      from Romania and is the most common in
      the USA. Prices are very reasonable. This
      rifle was $379 at Cott Firearms in Marshall,
      Mo. Ammunition is increasing in price as we
      all know but the 7.62×39 round at Midway
      Usa is priced at $109 for a case of 500
      rounds. Not to bad at all for a rifle round.

      While I admit these prices are from 2006, they haven't gone up much yet. But your right, they are going up.

      Auto weapons registered prior to 1986 are ok. Dealers samples and law enforcement stuff after 1986 are ok but cannot be sold, must be returned to the manufacturer at the end of their use

    • One of the commentors just posted something that I was thinking, but I had no evidence and that is that this program probably had it's origins in the Bush Administration.

      Just like nearly everything else from the Obama administration, it looks like it could have been just another program that was carried over from Bush.

    • Hate Faux News(?) but this is a poor example of their partisan bs. They are absolutely correct about the fact that as long as they have drug money they are going to be able to get whatever weapons they think are necessary. The AG can't do a damn thing about it.
