    • Long overdue! And yes the road ahead may not be clear yet but it will come... Real change in America has always come by way of the people not politicians. They're good for nuthin but war and financial ruin. Not one branch of this sorry government has owned any responsbility for the crisis they and they alone created, no pay cuts or unemployment lines for them. Americans ought to be mad as hell and showin it.

    • I am in support of the concept of diminishing the influence that money has in the legislative process, but I have to say this, I'm not sure I understand how blocking streets and shouting slogans achieves that. I hope that they are able to bring about the change in human nature that drives the desire to be rich and influential and that being said can someone here explain to me how the occupy demonstrations will bring that about? Again I support that particular goal , I'm just not clear as to how these tactics will accomplish it.

the point is to show our law makers that we DO care, that we're tired of getting squashed by the wealthy. Our government has become responsive to money rather than the citizenry - this needs to change. This change will only be accomplished when money(influence) is taken out of elections. When our lawmakers are elected for their ideas/proposed policies, rather than how much money they spend on smearing the other guy/gal.
Congress itself will not enact this sort of constitutional amendment, but this can be accomplished by the states - 38 states agreeing on public financing of elections will make this an amendment that is added to the constitution. There is a petition out there now called Get Money Out of Politics http://www.getmoneyout.com/ Let's all spread the petition

    • Funny how we are able to project our democratic values on other nations but when it comes to projecting them inward on our own system we are met with resistance. Maybe it's because the corporate overlords viewed the Arab spring as a way to expand their markets while here in America they have us right where they want us already, under their thumbs. They are like a weed strangling the plant of democracy with their greed.

    • This isn't distortion, it quite clearly shows the President and Clinton making statements about foreign leaders who behave badly in response to their people demonstrating, just as it seems the police are doing in New York. Our Federal Government should step in to stop the abuse of power that the New York Police Department is engaging in. We should not be treating demonstrators this way, especially peaceful demonstrators. The Tea Party was not accosted this way when they were conducting less peaceful demonstrations, why are these people being accosted?

I support OWS and think that the NY Police and others around the country have been FAR too forceful with the protesters But I have not heard of anyone being shot or disappearing after being dragged off by the Federal government like they have been overseas. Thus I am NOT willing to compare the actions of Our police to theirs. Our Federal government does Not have an obligation to support or denounce the protests, only an obligation to LISTEN to the people and make decisions accordingly.

As far as what happened with the Tea Party and how their protests were Supported in this country, the Media and the Mega-Rich are responsible for that, not the government.

I beg to differ, our government does have an obligation to protect the right of the people to demonstrate without being injured and arrested for engaging in perfectly legal activity. I didn't say that they should support the subject of the demonstration, but the demonstrators are entitled to protection.

That is a State/City issue, not a Federal issue. If the State or City infringes on the rights of the protesters then the individual protesters have the right to file a civil suit against the State or City. If the State or City police Kill anyone or Severely Injure someone Then the Federal government can be ASKED to step in, Then it becomes a Federal matter. It’s about procedure.

As I said before I Do support the protesters and Many here can tell you I am a Liberal and proud of it, but I do believe in working within the system whenever possible. Yes, there Are times when the governments (Federal, State, and Local) go too far and Should be held accountable, but I would use the system we have to address my grievances.

Support OWS, Make our voices HEARD!

Really, you want to argue about who is responsible to ensure that a citizen of this country be permitted to engage in this behavior without being injured by the police. I am quite sure that those people in the video being swatted at and hit with batons and the man run over by the police scooter are sitting somewhere very comforted by the fact that they can file a civil suit against the city that may be heard sometime in the next decade. Get real! I was simply stating that this video is not a cut and splice video, it is clear that the makers were pointing out how easy it is for our leaders to speak on other countries' behaviors while seemingly ignoring similar, not exactly the same, behavior toward people in our own country.

Violence towards the People by several of the Wall Street Puppets in the ranks of the local police needs to be addressed, I just believe that there IS a system to use so that we can put a stop to this type of abuse by the police. Let the system work. Have criminal And civil charges filed on Any police officer injuring a protester, I am sure that there is Plenty of video showing what the police are doing and there ARE Judges that are willing to hear petitions. Use the system!!!

    • This is an extreme left version of o'keefe splicing and distortion.

I support the OWS protestors, but I don't condone splicing up older videos to make it look as if the President and Sec. of State are ignoring WSO.

Apparently Current is clueless when it comes to how our federal government should conduct themselves in these matters.

I don't see or hear of President Obama calling in the military to get rid of these people. He's letting the people be the people.

    • This video demonstrates the hypocrisy and propaganda of the system that enslaves the 99% around the entire globe.

One day we will have absolutely nothing left to lose and in our misery find our true freedom. This is only the beginning. People are only just beginning to understand the extent of our country's corruption. If you think you are one of the ones who does understand but you are still planning on voting for Obama or Ron Paul, then I'm sorry, but you do not understand your own subjugation. If you are a non-rich Republican then you are even further from understanding. There is still a long way to go. The people must unite.

      E pluribus unum!

(oh and since I must be supporting someone I support a return to Indigenous based democracy... Such as Six Nations, aka the Iroquois Confederacy only expanded to include all remaining tribes... Campaign finance reform, that includes a "No Donation" policy....)

    • Urgent -- TODAY at 7 am, the New York City police plan to evict the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

The only way to stop the eviction is a roaring outcry to New York's billionaire mayor, Mike Bloomberg, and to the owners of the protest park. We must show them that their global reputations are on the line.

Let's flood their offices with phone calls! Avaaz will tell the media about the numbers of calls made, multiplying their impact on the public image of Bloomberg and Richard B. Clark -- the CEO of the company that owns the park. If enough of us call now, we could turn the tide and stop the eviction--but only hours are left!

      Who to call:

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg: +1-212-772-1081 ext 12006
      Brookfield CEO Richard Clark: +1-212-417-7063
      Brookfield US headquarters: +1-212-417-7000
      Brookfield Canada headquarters: +1-416-369-2300
      Brookfield Australia headquarters: +61-2-9322-2000

    • Excellent video and thank you so much figg for posting it! Very powerful. This just showed the hypocrisy of our government. What happened in Egypt is going on right here, but this country's people don't get the same support from Obama as the Egyptians and the Libyans did for standing up to tyranny of a different sort.

    • This government only gives a damn about those whose protests they seek to use to their own geopolitical advantage. I am ASHAMED of this government. They deny their own people the same inherent freedom they hypocritically claim belongs to everyone else. Great touch using their own words. The women who protested outside the White House for the right to vote did the same to Wilson... and they won. And we will too. Stand firm.

    • That is a powerful 7 minutes and 11 seconds.

If you are wandering through, trying to decide if you have that much time to spare, press the play button. Watch this video. This sums up the way Occupy is being treated, and how unjust and hypocritical that treatment is. This 7 minutes and 11 seconds is time well spent.

I am posting this in other places. Thank you for sharing this, figg. This video cries out to be seen.
