Pretty impressive result for $10 million a year. That’s just his salary... [...]

Current TV, which counts former Vice President Al Gore as one of its founders, is hoping Mr. Olbermann will put the cable channel in the spotlight after struggling for years with developing a new kind of news experience.

“Current TV has sucked for years,” Donald McNeil, a media analyst from Seattle, told Politically Illustrated. “The ratings just aren’t there. My guess is that Current TV is hoping a big name like Mr. Olbermann will increase traffic and ratings.”

* ... from 106,000 viewers a night to 46,000 a night... yeah, it's pretty clear that current still sucks.

    • Anybody remember how long it took Olbermann to bring MSNBC and ESPN out of the cellar?

It didn't happen in a few weeks.

    • I think that Current is on the right track by hireing Keith, and now adding Cenk Uygar to the line up. Increasing viewership takes time, at least when you are offering something intellectual.
Of course they could take the the Faux News shortcut, and keep a steady stream of air headed bimbos on the screen, and pretend that they're,...Journalists!
That might help them grab the coveted 13 to 18 year old, acne demographic.

    • Keith has only been here a couple of months and already he's stirring up the neocon trolls. I'd call that a win for Keith!

    • I'm reading this watching The Factor on Fox. I have seen Olberman when he was on MSNBC. I have nothing against Current TV but Olberman, well, I can understand why his viewership is in the toilet.

    • I am glad Al Gore brought Keith Olbermann to Current TV. I DVR it every night. I appreciate a 'voice of reason'. There are also others coming to current, which I will also be adding to my DVR list.

People who come here to say things against Current are here to spin. We must see them for who they are. When they say "even progressive liberals get tired of endless partisan vitriol..." they are doing it with purpose. It's called spin, they are trying to make people dizzy.

So, what's your point? Because we are what you consider to be 'progrssive liberals', we should have no where to communicate in numbers. We aren't invading a 'right wing' site, calling them slang names, just to get a rise.

I'm sorry, but I don't get your point? You are correct the truth does not belong to any particular political party! So, I guess we do agree about something. But, your coming to a site, which is bascally progressive liberals, just to spew blather, is just sad.

You've been coming here a long time, one would think you would be participating in the dialog, not just throwing jabs.

If you don't like Keith Olbermann, do what I do with FOX. Don't watch it, change the channel! I appreciate Keith Olbermann. He is speaking for me. I'm just 'one lonely voice', but Keith Olbermann is a SCREAM.

You are free to change the channel, but I think you would rather eliminate what the rest of us want to watch. You can't stop us, so move along!

Whats my point?... simply pointing out that even "liberal progressives" suffer from the same pundit brain rot that they accuse "right wing extremist" of... hypocrites all.

Far be it from me to wish to eliminate a source that keeps socialist happy in their delusion.... also I find it fascinating to observe the reverence given to one such as Ogre'mann here at current, even as the viewers are jumping off like rats from a sinking ship...

To pay out 10 million dollars for plummeting viewer ratings is akin to the same logic that the liberal left continually try to do... borrow and spend into prosperity!

... I'd laugh if it wasn't so painfully stupid !

... nightly viewers have dropped 62,000 since post Ogre'mann debut... that's called improvement?
... oh wait, what am I thinking... this is just a Geo-mathematical extension of Al Gores illusion of global warming, right?

Shows rarely continue with the same viewership right after debut. However pre-olbermann there was an average of 23,000 people watching current. His arrival doubled it. You know, you might actually have an intelligent discussion if you ever bothered to read the whole article, instead of a one sentence summary.

Yeah, I see your point, ahiguy. We should be watching someone fair and balanced, and...oh yeah, nonpartisan, like......Billo Riley. Yeaahh! That's the ticket.

    • What's that saying, KO? "No publicity is 'bad' publicity"? I'm just glad you are on the air and I can DVR your show (Hey did Lawrence change his show time because he was afraid to be on opposite you? (Just kidding! ;-)
