UN Report Offers Smoking Gun Proof of NATO & U.S. Lies

Posted: 2011/06/22

Several of the NATO countries, including Denmark, Germany, Spain and Italy, as well as Australia, PRAISED Colonel Muammar Qaddafi for his excellent work in human rights and were set to give a United Nations award to him and Libya in March. Yet, in a complete about-face they waged war on Libya instead. Kevin Rudd? You and those you conspire with will answer for this.

By Dennis South

Here is a type of "smoking gun" proof that NATO and the U.S. has been operating through a smokescreen of lies, as well as intimidation. Please read the following January 4, 2011 report of the 16th Session of the United Nations General Assembly Human Rights Council, Universal Periodic Review:

http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies...-HRC-16-15.pdf

Before NATO and the U.S. started bombing Libya, the United Nations was preparing to bestow an award on Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, and the Libyan Jamahiriya, for its achievements in the area of human rights. That's right--the same man, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, that NATO and the United States have been telling us for months is a "brutal dictator," was set to be given an award for his human rights record in Libya. How strange it is that the United Nations was set to bestow a human rights award on a "brutal dictator," at the end of March.

So, I ask a question. Who is this "brutal dictator" that the United Nations General Assembly Human Rights Council was preparing to bestow an award to, for human rights, sometime at the end of March? So, they would have us believe that they knew that he was a "brutal dictator," yet decided to give him an award for human rights?! Astounding! Astounding the lies that we're being told by the media, NATO and the U.S. government. Absolutely astounding! Not surprising, but astounding! But more astounding still, is the fact that, time after time after time, much of the American public--without questioning--believes every single word that comes from the "news" media.

It is noteworthy to read the following couple of sentences from the General Assembly's report:

"Several delegations also noted with appreciation the country's commitment to upholding human rights on the ground. Additional statements, which could not be delivered during the interactive dialogue, owing to time constraints, will be posted on the extranet of the universal periodic review when available."

In a footnote of that report, there is a list of countries that praised Colonel Gaddafi and the Libyan Jamahiriya (state of the masses), in support of the General Assembly Human Rights Council's decision to bestow this award upon Colonel Gaddafi. I simply present the list. The reader can look at the list and make his or her own judgement regarding the credibility level, or perceived credibility level, of any of the particular countries listed:

Denmark, China, Italy, The Netherlands, Mauritania, Slovenia, Nicaragua, The Russian Federation, Spain, Indonesia, Sweden, Norway, Ecuador, Hungary, South Africa, The Phillippines, Maldives, Chile, Singapore, Germany, Australia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Angola, Nigeria, Congo, Burundi, Zambia, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Zimbabwe.

If you have been paying any attention to the news, you will note that a few of the above-listed countries suddenly made an about-face, and decided to start supporting NATO and the U.S. in their war of aggression. Why? Why else!? Money. That's always the bottom line, and there's no doubt that it will all be exposed, at some time in the future, just as was exposed the lies that the U.S. government told its citizens, and the world, about "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. And those same countries were just about to bestow an award on Colonel Gaddafi, for human rights, after having carefully studied Libyan society. So, what's this about the "brutal dictator?" It's what my big brother would call it: CHEWED UP GRASS [Bull****!! For the delicate amongst you, pardon my colorful language].

So, I'm wondering: Who do we believe? The news media, that's been telling us, for months, that Colonel Gaddafi is a "brutal dictator." Or do we believe this January 4th, 2011 report from the General Assembly of the United Nations? No way am I trying to "bless" the UN, which has its flaws (as we've all witnessed). But, I worked at the International Office of a university once, and I learned that the UN, despite its flaws, is capable of doing some very good work, though it is my opinion that a new international United Nations should be formed, with headquarters in Libya.

Again: This award was set to be given to Colonel Gaddafi at the end of March. Next thing you know, Libya got bombed.

So, if you hear that your country will soon be given an award by the United Nations, for human rights, LOOK THE HELL OUT! Because you're about to be BOMBED!

Oh, BTW...we should have John McCain, Joe Lieberman, Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins PERSONALLY deliver all correspondence IN PERSON to Gaddafi. Since they're old "friends" and all!

To me, this video demonstrates the total absurdity of those that run the UN AND The Republican Hypocrite Party!

It's ALL for oil! The Rethuglicans would sell their own mothers' souls for more oil, power and wealth!

Well, to be perfectly honest, there are some mothers of Rethuglicans who still do have their souls intact.

      But perchance...not for long?

However, that is the "last straw" of a particular Republican....their "last gasp" thing they could sell to the Devil...since they sold THEIRS to him a long time ago!

Isn't it a prerequisite to joining the Republican Party?

    • I personally don't care if Gaddafi was getting this award or not...that was not the point in posting this. If you think the intention was to boo hoo over poor Gaddafi, not the case. I understand he has promoted brutal actions and is probably not the greatest individual on the planet, but he has done nothing more than our own leaders and I have had enough. I am tired of death and destruction as a way of life or even a possibility, wrought by overlords we know play with our future and that of our children. We living here get no truth...you want to know where all the conspiracy theory comes from? Lies...not the lies of the theorists, but the lies of our government. With a healthy dose of truth the conspiracy theorys would be brought out into the light, but they can't tell you what they are doing, not for the saving of people from their fear, for that they cause rampantly, but to save themselves from our wrath. If we were to actually know what they do about what is going on and our leaders' hands in it we would be certain to move forward as a group with one mission...to change the direction of the Earth and it's humanity for the better and to make sure that any individual that can't find love for people and planet is never ever placed in a position of decision making over those that would live their life through love and empathy.

Then why why why did you place the title "Gaddafi Set To Recieve UN Humanitarian Reward"? If the intention wasn't to say boo hoo hoo over Gaddafi then what was the intention? Where does the intention of our own leaders come into all this? You placed an article and set the title to what it was above and the report was a mix bag to show the "humanitarian" efforts of the Libyan regime. That doesn't sound very "truthful" to me, sounds more like intellectual dishonestly by placing a misleading title and then going off a tangent by bashing "our" leaders as it were. This is the problem with Conspiracy Theorists, they are intellectually dishonest and live within their own version of "truth" based on an information bubble that has been brewing on the internet. Its funny since that last half of your incoherent rant almost sounds like you're talking about religion except you omit God and add "truth" and conspiracy theory and bingo, you've entered the light to the real TRUTH! The Truth of something something something that will open the conspiracy and your mind.

    • I read through this material, did a little research of what was going on that would lead to this kind of praise. results:
the troika (group of three UN member countries) that put the proposal together evidently had one major flaw in their review - they failed to talk to the people of Libya. The law of the country, on paper, seemed actually quite fair and, of course, Qaddafi would claim to these investigators that he was abiding by all the laws. The reality did not become apparent until the people started to protest and Qaddafi loyalist and other hired mercenaries began the slaughter of the protesters

Wake up people! Gadhafi was butchering thousands of peaceful protesters (whom all we progressive liberals supported). He publically threatened to slaughter tens of thousands who didn't support him!

Republicans Praise Nixon Administration For Allowing Qaddafi To Rule Libya So He Could One Day Be Overthrown

WASHINGTON—GOP officials claimed credit Thursday for the Libyan people’s liberation from Col. Muammar Qaddafi’s despotic 42-year rule, saying that without the Nixon administration permitting Qaddafi to take control of Libya in the first place, there never would have been a tyrannical regime to topple. “In 1969, Qaddafi staged a coup, abolished the monarchy, kicked out American forces, and demanded U.S. oil companies share more revenue or else face expulsion—had Nixon and his Republican appointees done anything at all to stop Qaddafi during this time, Libya wouldn’t be celebrating his downfall today, in 2011,” explained Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC), calling the Libyan uprising a clear feather in the GOP’s cap. “So once again, the Libyan people have only the Republican Party to thank, because without our brilliant foresight, there would have been no Qaddafi dictatorship, and without a Qaddafi dictatorship, there would never have been a reason for the uprising. Understand? Again, this is our accomplishment, and ours alone.” Before thanking reporters for their time, Graham quickly added that Barack Obama had failed on every level and will always fail on every level

      Let's see....

No debt to the international banking community (unlike most of the "free-world"...)

Plenty of oil going to Europe, with the revenue going obviously to enrich the country....

The Great Man Made River.... Talk about water, they could have piped it all over Africa... & Obama really likes water, especially from places like Fiji (which is ran by a military Junta)

Libya has 144 tons of gold, and was planning on reverting to a gold currency and take a few other African nations with him (the IMF amongst others hated the idea) Also he had us fuct if well.... He was going to start selling oil exclusively for GOLD!!!....

He was damn smart, and nobody in the international community could stand the thought of him dominating on those 3 fronts, which I assure you had he not been overthrown he would have gained allot wealth, respect, & power within the international community.....

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuqZfaj34nc

He was going to "BURY" the dollar.....

UN award or no award, it's plain to see why a coup was plotted by the International community, the CIA and other intelligence agencies instigated it fueled the fire, even brought "Al Queada" commanders in to fight it, set up WIFI all across Libya, and started a disinformation campaign complete with a army of fake Libyan bloggers... I know we sat back on facebook, myself and a few other people, liked every Libyan page and very carefully monitored blog postings by 100's of Libyans that write English ten times better than us with a command of the English vocabulary the average Libyan just doesn't possess....

You guys can believe whatever, But a few people are pretty sure of what happened and why.... (and that video it won't let me post directly on c u r r e n t further illustrates my point)

    • you know what happened before this award and the bombing by the US and Nato? thousands of Lybian people took up what arms they could lay their hands on and took bingazi and several other cities. Gadaffi's responce? he rolled tanks and artilary on those cities and proceeded to pound civilian buildings to dust. then those civilians took to the streets of these cities like misrata and used sticky bombs to take the tracks of those tanks WWII style running out with nothing more than a lit fuse. I also remember these same citizens moving block by block isolating and terminating Gaddaffi mercenary snipers who were indescreminately killing anyone man woman or child who dared move in that city. I remember fearing that the US and Nato were going to let gadaffi roll into bingazi and murder all those brave Lybians who had finaly had enough and were standing against a monster. but ya its all about the money for people like this author so he has no problem ignoring all the other facts available, but I remember hat came before the bombs fell.

I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt the validity of the reports that described the origins of the rebellion as you have. Other reports have explained it very differently and it would be very strange if mass news media were accurate in their reports about a conflict the US was involved in. Especially when oil, gold, and finance are significant.

    • Here are some interesting things from the report:

Brazil noted that reports of torture were recurrent and that legislation on racial discrimination was lacking. Brazil made recommendations

Thailand shared the concerns of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya regarding its approach to illegal migration, and welcomed steps taken to tackle its root causes. Thailand made recommendations.

Australia remained concerned over restrictions on freedom of assembly and expression; the detention of political prisoners; limited rights to fair trial under the new State Security court; enforced disappearances; deaths in custody; discrimination towards minorities; lack of legal protections against domestic violence; and the application of the death penalty. Australia made recommendations.

It expressed concern about cases involving the forced deportation of refugees and asylum seekers to countries where they could be subject to torture or ill treatment. Poland asked about steps to be taken to improve the situation of migrants. Poland made recommendations

Adopt and implement a definition of torture consistent with its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, Degrading Treatment or Punishment (United States)

Step up efforts to consolidate the rule of law and national human rights protection institutions (Viet Nam)

Comply with international obligations, and ensure full and unhampered
enjoyment of freedom of expression (Czech Republic)

There are so many recommendations and comments that both praise and dispute the concept of Libyan governance. There are common themes of suggesting on improving human rights while there is praise for education and healthcare coverage. But again, there was nothing in here saying Gaddafi was getting a reward.

    • No, this UN report was basically saying that it was reviewing the Libyan system of governance and suggesting ways to improve human right conditions in the country. Where does it say that an award was going to be given? Its basically a document that saying what the current conditions are based on the Libyan government's finding and basically what country delegations believe to be room for improvement. Stop trying to propagate that Gaddafi was a humanitarian Square. You're trying to make him look like a saint and trying to justify your own personal conspiracy point that the Libyan uprising started because of the CIA. You're trying to say Libyans enjoyed high human rights standards under Gaddafi and even go as far as to add this fake headline saying he was going to receive a reward.

Ok then, well tell me where in the report did it say Gaddafi was getting a UN Humanitarian Award? I don't see what you mean by that last sentence as it was Gaddafi's fault for shooting his own people when they asked for democratic rights. It wasn't the US fault for starting an uprising, it was the people on the domestic front of Libyan affairs that started the uprising. I don't think you understand the dynamics of domestic affairs. The finger remains pointed to Gaddafi end of story. He shot his people, his actions led to NATO intervention. If the opposite happened and he accepted his people's frustration, he would have surrendered power after 42 years and give his people democratic reforms. But he didn't of course.

Highly doubtful that this was a grassroots movement. I do not believe that the reports by the major media outlets describe what happened accurately. Given the last 50 years of mass media outlets' war coverage, you would be more accurate if you believed exactly the opposite of most "news" reports. I can't remember the man's name off the top of my head but a former US congressman was visiting Libya on a goodwill tour and had to go into hiding amongst the general populace when all this went down. He had a very very different story to tell.

Thats just one man's account and he wasn't a Libyan who lived in the country (So you rather believe the account of an American instead of the account of a Libyan?). Why are you doubtful of this whole process? Imagine being under the rule of one man for 42 years! 42 years of repression and you expect people to remain idle to that? 42 years of living under the cult of personality of one individual? This doesn't even have to do with mass media for christ sakes. It has to do with the domestic disputes resulting from being repressed for 42 years under one man rule and at the same time, getting access to information that allows for greater unity among the population to organize opposition. It has everything to do with a large youthful population that has searched for inspiration from the Tunisian and Egyptian uprising.

THAT has nothing to do with anything I just said. I wasn't talking about motives rather, I'm talking about the fact that the Libyan uprising was started by the people and not by the CIA. NATO involvement resulted BECAUSE Gaddafi shot his own citizens and BECAUSE Benghazi would have become the site of possible political genocide. Lets get this straight, this wasn't a US led operation, most of this was conducted by European Member States so what John McCain thinks is irrelevant. You're not reading my comment. Also, what TRUTH is there to that title? Where in the UN report did it say that Gaddafi was getting a Humanitarian Award? Oh, you probably propagated that in order to sugarcoat Gaddafi because I see no other way you could have added that EXTREMELY misleading title.

I've read about all the myriad of citizens' benefits under Kadafy's rule.
They were a much more liberalized expansion of the same benefits
available to Saudi Arabian citizens. With all that spreading around
money from oil revenues, it was only a matter of time before the
greedy smelled the color of their money as sharks smell the blood
of their victims. It's damn dangerous to have a military Jaggernaut
around to flex it's muscles. Obvious too the Bankster powermongers
fueling the Corporations in the M.I.C. (which Eisenhaur warned us of
in Jan. 1961) have taken over NATO, which is now a fascade for the
M.I.C international. Kadafy expressed that the Western powers pay
for his countries Oil in Gold. That HAD to freak them out. If the Western
powers had listened to Nicola Tesla, the original green inventor genius
in 1900, developed an alternate recyclable energy source like electricity
instead of depending on fossil fuels, to promote Monopoly domination,
we wouldn't be seeing these belligerent military atrocities play out today.
Libya also has an underground reservoir of pure, fresh water that makes
the Saudi's, all other Western industrialized nation covet as theirs run out.

Oil & Water drive the food production of the USA's agricultureal system.
Without it, the cost of t6hat essential commodity would skyrocket here.
During the 1800s, many European powers invaded Africa to plunder
their natural resources. Centuries later History repeats itself. Their
pattern of colonialism is simply more subtle these days. Banksters
have advised them it takes more financial investment to have a military
presence there. And less to use up ordinance to keep the 1% in power.

We don't control Corps and they have acted in their best money making manner by sending our jobs overseas, hardly the "models" of faith and trust for a healthy middle or working class!

Point taken. If Pinochiobama can receive the Nobel Peace prize, it can't
mean that much anymore. Alfred Nobel desired that the dynamite he
invented to clear the way for roads, railroads, and canals be used for
benign, peaceful, constructive purposes. He was so horrified when our
planet of apes saw the potential to use it to destroy instead, that he
reaffirmed his will by starting his Nobel Peace prize foundation. He was
a genuine humanitarian. NATO's humanitarian claim is so overreaching
it's flagrant propaganda. Hitler's inner circle would wish they'd come up
with that line of merde. Meanwhile Alfred Nobel's likely rolling in his grave,
and his spirit wishing he'd gone into farming instead of inventing. As a
cynical person this is a prize example of the old Dow chemical slogan:
" Better living through chemistry " ( So long as you're not on the
business end of the explosives anyway)

That would be a hoot to see. The law would be on them faster than fleas
attacking an unprotected dog. 50 States have very stringent penal Statutes
outlawing explosives. Even the military has stringent security procedures
handling that type of ordinance. They don't want it ending up in the wrong
hands. The trouble lies in that, less tongue in cheek, it already has. The
outrageous way chemical Corporations control the civilian Government
which then uses the military as Corporate pawns to accomplish foreign
invasions to promote Corporate Piracy in Iraq, Afghanistan etc,,,,,has
already seen to that. Fascism is as Fascism does.

I am guessing Syria will be next followed by Turkey and then Iran. The disaster which is the Obama "foeign policy" now has resulted in Afghanistan backing up Pakistan in any war with the US. When it comes to Iran we will find Afghans, Pakis and Iranians all fighting the Obama NWO / NATO war machine. Clinton had a laugh when she heard Gaddafi was dead, on live TV she laughed at the murder of the man and stated "We Came, We Saw and We Conquered". But "we were not at war according to Obama. He should be impeached and jailed.

    • This is very interesting. One has to be very cynical about the manipulation of the world by the mass media. I wouldn't totally rule this out regardless of the source.

Yawohl. They're Corporations too. That article posted by KennyMotown
recently in which Swiss researchers discovered upon analysis that 1%,
some 147 of 43,000 interconnected multi lateral Corporations control
over 40% of all the world's wealth, and economies is very telling. It used
to be circa 65 Corporations that controlled the TV excuse for news in
the 60s. Now they've merged into only 10 superCorporations. You should
check out that article if you haven't blogged it already. The immage looks
like a pin cushion of colorful points of light, though they're not benevolent.
I'm sure Murdock, Koch, et al power mongers have intimate connections
to that 1% of Corporations, which is why they're part of the 1/10 of 1%.

I think he got his face carved into Mt. Rushmore national park in the
Dakota's. The man who chiseled their 4 presdiential faces into Mt.
Rushmore also made a scuplture of chief Crazy Horse not that far
away as a courtesy to the written letters from Native Amercians
petitioning him to. The History channel features a series called
Brad Meltzer's Decoded. I saw the 3rd episode of their 2nd season
recently which I recorded on my Dish satelite network DVR about
that place. It's a fascinating series. If you like to learn secrets as
I do, you'll want to check out all their 1st season episodes too.
The opener for their new season was about the supposed Gold
depostory at Ft. Knox. That one could make it to the Chiller channel.

    • ok well i am on your side and all BUT the article you quotes is actually a forum post, and the UN report mentioned doesn not have anything to do with giving him an award. so i am sorry to say but this loooks like disinformation.

    • Interesting, to say the least. The UN may not be perfect, but it certainly wouldn't make such an egregious error of awarding a humanitarian award to a "brutal dictator". At least I don't think they would.

maybe or maybe his "invasions" and "backing" of terrorists were to help other countries out from under our thumb...seems as if that has been his main goal. Who among us hasn't done things we wish we hadn't and the only good that came of it was that we learned.
