first heard the word “sustainability” in reference to “ecosystems.” A sustainable ecosystem is one where there is no need for any interference from outside that system in order for it to survive. Like the diverse species in a terrarium, they interact productively to satisfy each others needs. It is a symbiotic relationship, and if the diverse species are in balance, the terrarium will maintain itself.
