Established by Congress to investigate and expose government waste, the Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan has decided to not reveal its volumes of materials to the public for another two decades.
After three years of work, the commission officially shut down last week, having concluded that the U.S. misspent between $31 billion and $60 billion in contracting for services in Iraq and Afghanistan.
But it won’t allow its records to be opened for public review at the National Archives until 2031, because some of the documents contain “sensitive information,” according to one official.
Steven Aftergood, an expert on government secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists, told The Wall Street Journal that the 20-year term “seems like a long period of time, particularly for a commission whose whole purpose is to improve accountability and expose waste.”

Hmmm take $500 K or so, put it in a box labeled TOP SECRET, and send to to Iraq. This is what the Defense Department calls normal? Oh, I forgot. It had the Dickless Cheney seal of approval. Yep keep it classified.

What kind of country have we turned into? One which start a war based on fixed facts and fake documents, while the American people just 'move along'. One which chooses to ignore the Geneva Convention, to justify torture, while the American people just 'move along'. One which taps phones and hacks emails, even though it is against the law, while the American people just 'move along'. One which hides their crimes for 20 years?
Isn't it time to 'stop' moving along to the wrongs? Dictators, deciders and criminals hide their crimes. Sad, sad, sad!

Actually people were spun one thing and what they got was something else. The Republicans make the campaign about jobs, but after being elected, jobs was the furthest thing from their minds.
The candidates with the most money won. Honesty was no longer a requirement. People became free to lie and no one held them accountable.
I think we unring the bell, when we stop accepting lies. Distorting fact and opinion has got to stop. Current is a step in the right direction.
Accountability, shame and justice!
