Under the new rules for the 2008 election cycle, the DCCC [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee] asked rank-and-file members to contribute $125,000 in dues and to raise an additional $75,000 for the party. Subcommittee chairpersons must contribute $150,000 in dues and raise an additional $100,000. Subcommittee chairs on power committees and committee chairs of non-power committees must contribute $250,000 and raise $250,000. The five chairs of the power committees must contribute $500,000 and raise an additional $1 million. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James Clyburn, and Democratic Caucus Chair Rahm Emanuel must contribute $800,000 and raise $2.5 million. The four Democrats who serve as part of the extended leadership must contribute $450,000 and raise $500,000, and the nine Chief Deputy Whips must contribute $300,000 and raise $500,000. This is just what is happening in the DCCC...can you imagine what is going on in the RNCC and Teabagger Central? No wonder people like the Koch's and the Soros's call the shots there. Its sickening.

We have the OWS in full speed against the most corrupt institutions in our country...the banks on Wallstreet and the Casino Capitalists who have nearly bankrupted the middle class in its entirety. Now read about how the most powerful positions in Congress and the Senate are up for grabs, for the same money that Citizens United decision of SCOTUS decision declared as speech.

Corruption has a middle name and its DC!!!! And I don't mean the comics.

    • And that's the voice I find myself listening to... The one that realizes/points out although in allot of regards the left has the right edged out on certain policies, the fact remains they are both sides so corrupt it's disturbing...

I'm quite tempted to believe it's so broken it's not worth fixing, and the fact of the matter is they've stepped so far away from what was intended as government, they don't even pass as the government figures they represent themselves as.....

There is no government, just a group of corporate interests... The top would be the global banking cartels, under that the military industrial complex, and just under that Wall Street itself.... From there it's oil companies, big pharma, Now I could have exact order of power off... But those would be the puppet masters, and they're not even the only ones.... That's who rules you, not Obama, or any other figurehead that's just there to appease the people and keep up appearances....

Exactly, its what I call "neo-fuedalism" and the hierarchy you outlined:

      International Banking Cartels = King
      Wall Street/Multinational Corps = Barons
      Military Industrial Complex = Knights
      99% = Vassals/Paupers

    • It's an internal system within the parties structure that basically requires corruption. No wonder must congressman spend 80% time fund raising.

Who within the upper echelons of the parties is being padded by these "dues" that must be raised and paid be congressional puppets.

What happened if they grew a set, and refused to pay the dues?

    • Oh, so that's what the e-mails they send to us for donations are really all about. Nancy Pelosi kept sending me e-mails to donate. I guess she expected me to help her get to her 25 million total in extortion money. I unsubscribed and told them I'm not supporting any party that enables war criminals. Time to end this system and start over. However, its hard to find any other way where there aren't those only doing it for their own self aggrandizement.

    • It seems that those who supposedly serve us in Washington DC are nothing more than whores for billionaires and corporations.

    • And while your at it, sign up for a subsciption to the Washington Spectator...its only $18 for 22 issues and this is truly a non-partisan news outlet that doesn't mince words and can't be bought by powerful interests.
