You can always make your own, you know. An old college buddy showed
me how to homebrew great beer on my first try. It takes about $50-60 to
buy a homebrew kit. The most arduous part of the process is to properly
sterilize all the environmental surfaces, & utensils. We use an oxidative
type B Brite et al to burn things cleaner than any detergent can, only w/o
heat per se. It's necessary to use laboratory liquid yeast in the packs in
stead of dried brewers/bakers yeast because the millions of wild yeasts
& bacteria in the air which settle into cheaper dry yeast are more prolific,
and will contaminate the brew with a sour aftertaste if you let them settle
into the batch you're brewing. The key is a degree of cleanliness that
would make a surgeon astonished, as the wild yeasts/bacteria will cause
infections of a different nature.. It always helps too, to buy a stainless steel
draft brewing keg, place it in a frig used only to lager the brew, because
fewer things can upset the yeasts if they're taking their time. Speaking of
slow motion, it'll be a quite a while yet before I can attend to all my legal
affairs in New York to move out West again. I'll let you know KB723.
