•Missing prosecutor didn't charge Sandusky after 1998 report
•DA Ray Gricar went for a drive in 2005 and was never seen again
•Gricar's state computer was found in river, too damaged to read
I spoke with Detective Matthew Rickard, who has been leading the investigation into the 2005 disappearance of the elected District Attorney of Center County Pennsylvania, Ray Gricar.
In 1998, Gricar decided not to pursue charges after the mother of a young man reported to Penn State Police that her son had been inappropriately touched by Jerry Sandusky as they showered together in the Penn State locker room.
Rickard tells me he is currently working to see if there could be any possible link between Gricar’s disappearance and the currently charged activity against Penn State athletic officials, but says there has been nothing to suggest Gricar -- who is still missing -- had knowledge of any of the other alleged activities.

Although the conspiracy theories are being pushed forward, Rickard tells me, from knowing Gricar himself, and the type of prosecutor he was, there must not have been the evidence to prosecute Sandusky back in 1998. Rickard admits that is speculation on his part, and is in the midst of finding out more information on Gricar’s investigation of Sandusky back in 1998.
In April, 2005 Gricar disappeared from the District Attorney’s office never to be seen again. He called his girlfriend and said he was going to take a leisurely drive that afternoon. His abandoned car was found near an antiques store in Lewisberg, Pennsylvania. His computer was found later in the Susquehanna River, but the hard drive had been taken out. Months later when the river banks receded, the hard drive was found about 100 yards from where the computer had been located. It was determined by investigators that the hard drive had been intentionally removed from the computer and repeated tests, including one done by the FBI, could not retrieve any data. The hard drive was too damaged.

This is too bizarre even for a bad overplotted Dan Brown novel..
... and it's real-life.

Really nobody saw the homosexual version of the child sex tracking industry...?
It's there, and this DA knew about it... What do the Mexican cartels do to people who try to expose them? Why wouldn't a conspiracy carried out by millionaire homosexuals (many of them closeted) end up involving murder when the potential for being exposed became a reality?

Thanks for posting, KP! I saw a story about this on some TV crime show shortly after it happened. I think this is a case of some Penn State alumni taking this whole ugly incedent to incredible lengths to protect the reputation of Penn State.

Wow, could it be connected? "Follow the money" comes to mind. Who's got it and how deep does their loyalty run? Interesting!
More and more information is sure to come to light, but in all of it, what Sandusky did to those children and the welfare of his victims should be the main focus.
It is just incomprehensible that nobody stepped forward and put a stop to what he was doing through all the years. Ok, what he was allegedly doing. What kind of culture doesn't stop that?
Thanks for the post Keith.

i'm afraid it's much nastier than "follow the money", Dudley. i have been following the Gricer disappearance for a while and there is nothing that says he could be bought. of course we know every man has his price, but that price is not always money. when his name came up in connection with the scandal at PSU, i had to ask myself why he failed to prosecute back in 1998. from all accounts he was a stellar prosecutor and a caring individual, so what could he be bought with to keep him from pressing charges against JS? i don't think it was money. jmo :)

Oh, I agree with you! I've not read anything that would make me think his character or investigation was at all questionable. And I don't think that. I should have been more clear.
What I was considering was Gricar's disappearance, the missing computer, then found without hard drive, then hard drive found later. To me that sounds suspicious. There may have been information that someone didn't want to get out or to be investigated later. And really, it may never be known, but if that was the situation, with Gricar being a DA, I suppose it could have been information on any number cases.
My point with "follow the money" was that it takes money to get things done, especially things of a nefarious nature. Whew! Ok, that's enough speculation by me for the rest of the day!
Pinklion84, you should know, my sole qualification for saying or stating anything on this post is that I read it. :)

right on, Dudley. interesting tidbit about the laptop. it belonged to the county but was used by both RG and his gf. in dec. 2004 they bought a home computer and the laptop went into a closet in its case with it peripherals. after RG went missing it was discovered that the laptop was gone but the case and peripherals were still there. there could have been anything on that laptop, or there could have been nothing. if nothing, then somebody went to great lengths to make it look like there was something and also to ensure it remained a mystery.
and just to be clear, i wasn't making any positive statements about Ray Gricer's character, i didn't know him at all, i was just saying that from the considerable amount i have read, i doubt it was money that kept him from prosecuting in 1998. he also had a very clean record and a reputation for integrity. but so did the men at PSU who hushed up the rape of a child and so did the one who raped the child, so who knows about anybody, right? - 7 months ago

Revealed: Prosecutor who failed to nail Penn State coach for 'sex abuse' vanished in 2005 and was declared 'legally dead' this year
Body of District Attorney Ray Gricar was never found but car abandoned and laptop dragged from river
Gricar had a 'bitter taste in his mouth' about Penn State programThe district attorney who tried and failed to prosecute Jerry Sandusky in 1998 after reports of sexual abuse emerged, has been missing since 2005 and was declared legally dead in July.
Ray Gricar disappeared on April 15 six years ago after telling his girlfriend he was going for a drive.
His body was never found, only his abandoned car and his laptop which had been tossed in the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania without its hard drive.
In 1998, Gricar had attempted to bring a case against Penn State former football defence coordinator Jerry Sandusky on child rape charges. The case of Sandusky, accused of years of abuse of boys that allegedly was covered up by school officials, has shaken the university and its football programme.
Last night, legendary head coach of Penn State Joe Paterno was fired amid allegations of a cover up. - 7 months ago
