The Citadel, in South Carolina, Also Caught in Child Abuse Scandal

Image
Incredulous
Apparently Penn State is not alone in deciding that the health and well-being of the institute is more important than the lives of children who are victimized.

The Citadel in South Carolina, a military academy, did not pursue sexual misconduct allegations against one of their camp counselors four years ago. The perpetrator went on to molest 5 more children, and is currently jailed for those offenses.

    • This story has the potential to be far greater than originally perceived. For instance, when the first priest was accused of child molestation, that probelm grew to encompass a much larger system of abuse.

Or when the Boy Scouts of America found out that pedophiles were rampant in the Scout Master ranks.

Or youth programs such as the YMCA, or Boys Clubs of America.

Any time you have adults being unsupervised in positions of authority without checks and balances in place, these things can be a potential means for those that may not have children's best interests in mind or at heart!

Is anyone surprised that the sports "industry" wasn't fertile ground for this to occur?

      I know I did.

    • Once again, abuse of authority and this is what we then send off to fight our wars. Nice. And we wonder why a few of our men in uniform have a few screws loose.

    • No surprise here...if people will just look around they will find many lumps in the cultural carpet where this kind of behavior has been swept for decades...especially by those who enjoy undeserved but special rank and prestige...

    • This kind of thing goes on all over and has forever. TPTB like to pretend that children matter, but the fact is that they are only pandering to those who do think that children matter.

Keep in mind that there are many subgroups in our society that do not count as valuable to the conservative white male mindset. Children are on the bottom of the ladder, then immigrants, followed by women.
