But when a couple of Daily Caller employees were at Occupy Wall Street this morning, it was the very protesters they had been demonizing who ended up helping them out. Daily Caller reporter Michelle Fields — who faced off with actor Matt Damon earlier this year over education policy — and videographer Direna Cousins both claim they were attacked by the New York Police Department (NYPD) while covering the raucous protests in the Financial District today. Fields added that Occupy Wall Street protesters immediately came up to her to offer their help:
“Direna had a camera in her hand and I had a microphone, and we were being hit,” she said. “When I fell to the ground I said at one point, ‘I’m just covering this! I’m covering this!’ And the officer just said, ‘Come on, get up, get up,’ before pulling me up by my jacket.’” “The protesters came up to me right away and asked if I needed any medical assistance. They were actually very kind and helpful. It was the police officers who were very aggressive,” Fields added.
Fields says that protesters right now are effectively “barricaded” in Zuccotti Park, which was the spot from which they were ousted from on Tuesday.

Your politics tend to change after you've felt a nightstick or two.
A lot of people with a neo-conservative perspective have never experienced the brutal reality of America, so it's easy to judge 'those jobless liberals' because you have nothing to conflict with your interest.
The beautiful thing about OWS is that a lot of people are seeing first hand what happens when you dare to question what happens with your money. They are beginning to realize that there is something very very wrong with our country. And it has been for quite sometime.

That's what it takes for people who aren't capable of empathy. They have to actually become the victim in order to see that there is a problem.

The Daily caller will spin this as if the protesters were the ones beating them and the kind godly police were the ones who came to their aide.
The far right media has no morals or sense of reality.
They are owned by the Koch mega elites and care nothing for the truth.

Nice!!! A live in opportunity to feel such unrest and will against the people as well as the constitution by which they stand, to peacefully protest...
At times I wonder if the Police remember that "WE" pay their wages???

Well Cherry, you and grammabet might stop to consider that it's Mayor Bloomberg's turf and If you notice, not even Gov. Cuomo has intervened. When those two gentlemen begin performing the duties of the president, then and only then should you expect the President to drop everything to settle New York's problems (and Wisconsin, and Arizona, and Ohio, etc.).

I actually almost shed a tear :p. good to see her be honest about it and realize who the OWS really are. Hopefully the rest of the world and the brutes who serve the tyrants (im talking about you nypd) will start to realize we are fighting for them.

An amazing act of kindness and respect. No thought about it being deserved or not. Pure compassion at work. I hope this resonates in future reporting by Fields.

I actually think this is just great. I am against the violence, but people like Fields have been actively calling the protesters anything but children of god. I would have rather have seen this happen to James O'Keefe rather than to Ms. Fields.
Ms. Fields had been of the opinion that it was A-Okay for the police to do such things prior to experiencing such herself.
