Congressional Republicans have relentlessly invoked the “concerns of small business owners” in their crusade against federal regulation and raising taxes. But according to a new poll by the Hartford Financial Group, “it turns out that these concerns are not shared by as many actual small-business owners as you might expect.” Only 9 percent of small business owners cited government rules and regulations as the single biggest barrier to success, and just 2 percent cited “too many taxes or uncertainty related to taxes.” This follows several other surveys that found the exact same thing. Ironically, the New York Times notes that “the myth of the overregulated and overtaxed small business has such a strong hold over the public imagination that the survey’s authors appear to believe it themselves, despite their own findings.”

I own a small business and never once have I said if only they would relax regulations or cut my taxes I could grow my business.
I created two full time jobs this year and it was because I worked hard to grow my business. I plan on working even harder and creating two more full time jobs next year.
Actually if the government started regulating big business more my small business would grow faster. Unregulated banks cost me money. Unregulated oil companies cost me money. Unregulated commodity traders cost me money.
