Something I found interesting about the Dec 5, 2011 issue cover of Time Magazine. Americans got the "Your life isn't so bad after all" cover and the rest of the world got something different....

Go look for yourself on their website.

    • Please do some research before you post even more ignorance on the Internet. The other covers are of the Egyptian riots/protests, NOT the Occupy movement. Yes, it does make a statement about what sells/seems acceptable in the United States, but everyone who posted something about this saying that "The Man" is trying to undermine the Occupy movement should really do more research before blathering nonsense. It's bad press for people who ACTUALLY give a damn about the movement and care to know the facts before they speak out. By making this out to be something it isn't, you're being Just. Like. "Them."

You don't think the Egyptian Riots were intentionally replaced with some sedated opinion about passive anxiety so as to not "fuel the revolution fire," regardless of America's separate cause? Come on, that correlation was a freebie.

I'm not saying it's not a statement. Let me clarify. Please, to everyone who has/wants to link this to your social media profile, don't say that the non-US covers are of the Occupy movement :)

Ohhh. We're on the same page now. Yeah, that'd be a pretty embarrassing gaff. I don't think anyone who took the time to do their homework would mistake someone wearing a gasmask for a demonstrator of the Occupy movement, but, you know...we're not all doing our homework, are we?

    • The US gets the cover that basically says "stop f**king complaining." TIME has become rag journalism. What a fall from journalistic grace they have taken. Can anyone say corporate tool? If anxiety is so good for you, why isn't corporate personhood investing in OUR futures? No, they don't have to do a thing because of the uncertainty of the markets. TIME has become farce.

    • Reminds me of the time when I was visiting Santiago, Chile, as a green youth and I read completely fabricated stories in Time magazine about the conditions there. It was so different from the reality on the ground it made my head spin.

They made up stories of unrest, violence in the streets, and resistance to elected President Allende, at the request of their partners in U.S. State Department under Henry Kissinger as a precursor to the coup that the US fomented that killed Allende and brought the military dictator Pinochet to power destroying 100 years of exemplary democracy in Chile.

(Chile was called the "Switzerland of South America" in the cliche of the time for its long history of stability and respect for law and democracy.)

At that same time the US government sabotaged US farm machinery and other large machines being shipped to Chile in an effort to damage their economy under the unacceptably social progressive government of Dr. Allende.

That sort of thing give you a priceless perspective on the power of the media to distort and influence events, and to learn that even the government you grew up with, is capable of some truly evil action.

    • I can't hide it, I can't lie about it, I was duped. I lived the American dream and it took a mid life crisis to wake me up. So I asked myself, self, whats the real difference between the USA and any other puppet regime around? Aside from the fact I can cast a worthless vote every once in a while, nothing. We must be honest in that we do have things a little better than a lot of 3rd world nations but the illusion of freedom is just that, its a hoax. The Patriot Act all but trashed the Constitution and a so called liberal president let it stand. No, we don't have task masters and we still have a great many choices we can make with in our own lives but we are dupes. The left wing media is as much a part of the charade by their inaction, they might as well close up shop. Wake up America.

    • Revolution? You don't need that! You know that feeling you get when the future seems dire and uncertain, where you're sure you need to do something but your not sure what it is, so you just sit there and shake and worry? Don't worry...I mean DO worry! It's good for you! (But if you do decide to do anything about it, which you shouldn't, make sure you take the blue pill) FU Time Magazine

    • I knew that internationally distributed magazines had different covers and even different articles. But I did not know the articles and/or cover were so blatantly different!

    • Out on the street , you don't need the "media" to tell you what to think , how to feel . revolution is true , is REAL . Liars become irrelevant , because only the truth matters . I will not purchase a Time magazine , ever . Waste of money ...
