Also, why would Russia bothering wasting itself into another war when they continue to have many domestic troubles in the Chechen regions along with trying to maintain economic growth? All sides know that war reaps no profit, only pointless blood. This will all blow over with some additional economic sanctions and some words of discontent from both sides, end of story.

History repeats itself quite often, and the financial malaise the world is currently in most often results in a world war. Iran is one of the last country's in the dreaded axis of evil, and the drum beat for war against Iran has been beating quite steadily for a while now. The real power in the world is wielded by a few very hyper rich family's and they are the ones pulling most of the strings. Jan, the Project For a New American Century is defunked as of 2006. During Obama's campaign for office he stated clearly that he would ramp up the war in Afghanistan in pursuit of Bin Laden and al qaeda and draw down the military in Iraq - done both. It is unfortunate that congress thwarted his effort to close Gitmo, but this broken campaign promise should be laid at the doorstep of congress, not Obama.
I am disappointed that Obama has done so much appeasing to the GOP, that it has taken him so long to realize that it doesn't matter how many points he cedes to the GOP they will not work with him. I don't see this as a reason to throw the proverbial baby out with the bath water. My hope is that he takes his recently found spine through the next five years to show the American people that the elected GOP is looking out for the 1% only. Show the US that we deserve better than this GOP, keep Democrats running the country if we want the country to be of,by and for the people

The organization perhaps, but not the concept of perpetual war be it drone strikes or troops on the ground to assure American hegemony in the world and protect "our interests.". It's all war to me. Look at the end of the Clinton years, the ONLY thing that stopped that impeachment charade, the only thing that made the media let a minor sexual indiscretion fade off into the past.... That's what did it, nothing major (in the grand scheme), just a few bombing raids, enforcing a "no-fly zone", and keeping the public thinking there is and will continue to be threats in that region...
