Pepper Spraying The Statue of Liberty

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
(Poem engraved and mounted in The Statue of Liberty)

The 'golden door' was the promise of liberty and freedom from oppression. The financial systems in America have conquered what was behind the golden door and enslaved The People and their government. We The People have chosen to reclaim our promise, and have been met with violent oppression from the power class. We are yearning to breathe free, and for our efforts we get pepper sprayed.

This was to be expected. Oppressors oppress. It is their nature. But we have a nature too, and it is strong. We have a thirst for justice, and freedom. What I see in OWS is the defense of Lady Liberty. We are defenders of the promise that is America. The poem was clearly written for us, the 99%, as was our Declaration of Independence and The Constitution. Always remember, it is We The People.
