American church bans interracial couples

Melvin Thompson, a former pastor at the ironically named Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church, asked that a proposal stating unequivocally that “the church did not condone interracial marriage” be brought to a vote. It passed 9 to 6, with several members abstaining.
Thompson was apparently incensed that the daughter of church secretary Dean Harville brought her Zimbabwean fiancé to church. Harville said the decision was clearly motivated by racism. “It sure ain’t Christian. It ain’t nothing but the old devil working,” he told the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Moses married a black woman from ethiopia, God punished miriam and aaron for being against her.
Numbers 12:1-10
And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, "Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us?" And the LORD heard it.
Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the surface of the earth. And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.
And the Lord came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all my house.WIth him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches, and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them, and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle, and behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow, and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and behold, she was leprous.

It's not surprising that an institution of ignorance practices ignorance, but this is still a palm to the face of humanity. How embarrassing for humankind to have the likes of these imbeciles among us!

I have a feeling that's going to be one of those churches that's still holding out till the 22nd century on this issue if they haven't changed by now. They'll be all adamant about interracial marriage and everyone by then will be talking about cylon-human marriage as a hot button issue.

What kind of church is this? I thought churches were for all people. Churches suppose to be for support and growth, not judge, jury and executioner this is not a church. This is just a club.

Of Prejudice & Pride & the Politics of Love.
The Kentucky church that banned interracial couples is a reminder that religion is not bad, but rather it is the leaders in a particular religion who have given religion a bad name by hijacking religion to promote their narrow-minded, bigoted and phobic views of life. Like politicians since the founding of this nation, and politicians throughout the world before and after them, these annotated of the asinine have taken it upon themselves to determine who is worthy of love, life and death and the fruits of happiness through prejudicial litigation and outright intimidation. The pursuit of happiness, however, cannot be litigated. Love cannot be intimidated. To paraphrase the old saying: hell has no fury like a love denied. Can you imagine a world too afraid to follow their hearts? Can you imagine a world lacking the courage to live by individual conviction, yet all too willing to live as slaves to the convictions of others?
I just returned from a wedding reception of a groom who was African American and a bride who had a Black father and a white mother. The bride and groom were both female. As an Uncle to the groom, I made it my duty to “be there” for my niece for one of the happiest periods of her life. It was one of those events where I felt I had to be there. Halfway through the partying, I felt I needed to be there. While catching my breath from dancing in a futile attempt to prove at 55 I can still bust a move, I looked at my niece. I can truly say, I can’t ever remember seeing her when she wasn’t smiling or laughing. This night, her smile was even broader. Standing by her side was her bride, the most beautiful bride I ever saw this side of Hollywood. The reception was packed with family and friends. It was at that moment I realized that I needed to be there. No matter the color, sexual preference, political affiliation, economic situation or job description, love is one of the most powerful forces known to mankind. Tying the knot with the one you love, surrounded by family and true friends…well, it just doesn’t get any better than that. Looking at the newlyweds, I realize they found the answer to Heavy’s question, “now that we found love what are we gonna do with it?” Marry it. - 6 months ago

This is a frightening trend among some religious organizations. They should be stripped of their non-profit status, tax exemption, etc.
Did you know according to the Catholic Church "Jesus died for 'most of us'."
Hmmm...most of us, huh? Wonder who he DID NOT die for? Interracial couples??? People on birth control?
Who are the favored? - 6 months ago

"The church did not condone interracial marriage"...um...what about what the bible condones? I've yet to read that it differentiates based on the color of your skin, but rather on the system of beliefs that you hold.

Are there any black people in the bible?
I think not.
Which is hilarious considering the fact that if there was a 'man" named Jesus in that time and in that region he would have most certainly been dark skinned.
Fucking stupid ass hicks.
