    • Who gets hurt the most in Italy's austerity package? The middle class, as usual. Even though there are increased taxes on the wealthy and a luxury tax, the consumer VAT is also increasing as well and changes to pension programs and an increase in the retirement age. So the middle class will have to pay more for everyday goods, work longer in their lives and get less at the end.

      The USPS is not in financial trouble. The problem is that the government siphons money off the USPS to fund the general budget, and they made it illegal for the USPS to make a profit, which could then be invested in new equipment.

      Starve the government to prove it cannot work. Give those functions to the private sector so that a few can get rich while services get worse with no recourse.
