It's My Democratic Party And I'll Cry If I Want To!

It's My Democratic Party
By Buckeye Bill

Nobody knows where my Obama has gone.
Barry's "Left" me another time!
Why is he helping Boehner's GOP,
When he's supposed to be helping mine?

It's my Party, and I'll cry if I want to,
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to.
You should cry too, 'cause it's happening to you!

Playin' voter rights, keeps dodging the fight.
He throws me a bone now and then.
'Cause Barry's lyin' to me,
I've got no reason to smile.

It's my Party, and I'll cry if I want to,
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to.
You should cry too, 'cause it's happening to you!

------ LEAD BREAK ------

Barry and Johnny just walked through the door,
Like a serf obeying his king.
Oh what a Political Party surprise.
Barry's wearin' his nose ring!

It's my Party, and I'll cry if I want to,
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to.
You should cry too, since it's happening to you!
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have finally come to the conclusion that unless Mr. Obama does not change his direction as he walks through the political "minefield" the Republican Party has buried around him and his Administration, the President will not see a second term and that will only end even more badly for the working class and poor of this country. The GOP's political platform has, is and will forever be protecting the wealthy, the corporations and the military industrial complex's backsides at the expense of this Nation's economic and societal future! What would be left of this country if the Republicans were to gain control of the White House, the SCOTUS, the House of Representatives and the Senate the United States of America as we know it, will be transformed into a Third World Nation. The "haves" will rule over all the "have nots". Until the day comes when enough citizens grow tired of seeing their children go hungry, sick, uneducated and are guaranteed a life of servitude to Big Brother Business and those that will be in their pockets whom we call politicians that will in essence become a political peanut gallery doing the bidding of their Masters' every whim and revolt in the streets to bring to an end the insane agenda that has taken over the Conservative, Right Wing mindset.

May that day never come. But the way MY President has been dragging his feet, I am losing my hope that there is time left in his first term to make a difference and turn this nation around to keep it from going off the social and economic calamity cliff that's is just down the road we're on as we blindly await for some miracle to occur before that happens.

Time's running out.

Time to make your move, Mr. President.

Time's a'wastin'.

Time has come!

    • aww bill don't cry. the parties are just an illusion anyway. they may SAY different things, just to insure that we keep fighting each other, but they STAND for the same thing, and it aint freedom.
i have said it forever, there is NO difference between the repugs and the demo-gogues, and they are ALL owned, top to bottom, by the machine. so it doesnt matter if the president is bachman or obama, paul or perry. until we the people overthrow the corrupt system and install one without money involved, without the corporate overlords, NOTHING will change.

      so don't cry..

      "aww bill don't cry."

Perhaps I should rephrase my initial title for the thread I posted. I am CRYING OUT LOUD against what's transpiring in the "Body Politic".

Now, as for your assumptions that there is no difference between to two Parties...I respectfully disagree! You will NEVER see the likes of an Alan Grayson or Elizabeth Warren in the ranks of the Republican Party.

Yes, there are those who CLAIM to be Democrats, but you know that I know that there are some who do not adhere to the PRINCIPLES of the Demcoratic party.

They are the ones that should be removed from Office.

Those that are proponents of Democracy and defend the Bill of Rights AND the Consitution in the spirit of those two documents, should NOT be punished because of the few that are DINOs!

      That's my epistle....and I'm sticking to it!

I have been a Democrat at heart since Hubert H. Humphrey and would NEVER vote "R".

I'm what the phrase states, "Yellow Dog Democrat", which means I'd rther vote for a mangy, old yellow dog...not just before I would vote for a Republican... but FORVER!

Why on God's Green Earth would a thinking human being vote AGAINST their OWN livelihood?

      Jus' sayin'....

    • Personally I don't believe he wants a second term. How in the hell can you shit on your constituents and expect them to vote for you. Either he has a very low opinion of Democrat voters or his ego is so massive He never has to worry about drowning because his ego will guarantee him floating. As far as the Party, they sat back for years and watched Republicans stuff their pockets with corporate money and they felt totally left out so now they have jumped into the corporate bandwagon. They are always on defense but will never throw a punch. they just stand there and take beating after beating.
That is why Obomba filled his cabinet with wall-street people, caved in on everything that would benefit the country and it's citizens

THANK YOU SIR PLEASE MAY i HAVE ANOTHER!

Ps, is that Leslie Gore singing that song?

I do believe Mr. Obama was trying his damnedest to be a President to all Americans, no matter what political party you belong to. He bent over backwards trying to accommodate the Republicans by including them in everything he did or wanted to do.

But you must admit that he's a "quick study" and I hope he uses what he's learned by applying it all in 2012 to rip the Republicans a "new one" for all the aggravation they've caused us and him!

And, yes, that's Lesley Gore...I chose that video because like me, she's not a spring chicken any more! Reflection of the times we live in. At least for me!

I understand him trying to be everybody's president but I am damn tired of having to sacrifice my needs in order for him to just get along. I knew Obama was a trickle down believer during his campaign but I actually had the audacity of hope. Not anymore. Main street will never get anything from this President or this Congress. All they are interested in is keeping their jobs, stuffing their pockets and to hell with actually running the country, They have lobbyist that are doing a helluva job.

And a good morning to you, too.

But, may I ask, what alternative is there? Would you really want to see a Republican walk through the front door of the White House in January, 2013?

The ramifications are immeasurable! The price we'd pay both by what social programs would be done away with and the financial hit the average, ordinary family could face may take decades to undo!

Please reconsider your stance on the real issues that we all face if the wrong Party gains control of the message that could be coming from the Oval Office until 2017!

      Please?

My hope...my wish is to prevent a Republican from winning the White House and THEN using a new broom to sweep out all those politicians that are not working for the interests of the working class! A new broom sweeps clean.

First, let's get rid of all those inane Rethuglicans in 2012. Then we start on the Democrats that are DINOs like we did with those Blue Dog Democrats back in 2008 and 2010!

We should be rebuilding the Demcoratic Party. Dismantling it for a complete overhaul between 2013 and 2017! Not making the fatal mistake of thinking there could be a creation of a third political party.

This nation just isn't built for it and any attempt to start one will only end in defeat and then we'd have those Republicans rising from ashes like a Phoenix Bird only to bring into existence their Rich Man Politics again.

Besides, do we really want a parliamentary democracy to take root in America? We don't want to become like Europe, do we?

      Just supposin'...

There are more alternatives than just Dem or Repub - IMO. I am new to wanting help fix our issues we have created within our own country. My stance is firmly in having this place we call home become more susceptible to new ideas and formula's. I can't help but think of that old phrase we heard from Einstein: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

      I say we start here!

      Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

      Friends,

This past weekend I participated in a four-hour meeting of Occupy Wall Street activists whose job it is to come up with the vision and goals of the movement. It was attended by 40+ people and the discussion was both inspiring and invigorating. Here is what we ended up proposing as the movement's "vision statement" to the General Assembly of Occupy Wall Street:

We Envision: [1] a truly free, democratic, and just society; [2] where we, the people, come together and solve our problems by consensus; [3] where people are encouraged to take personal and collective responsibility and participate in decision making; [4] where we learn to live in harmony and embrace principles of toleration and respect for diversity and the differing views of others; [5] where we secure the civil and human rights of all from violation by tyrannical forces and unjust governments; [6] where political and economic institutions work to benefit all, not just the privileged few; [7] where we provide full and free education to everyone, not merely to get jobs but to grow and flourish as human beings; [8] where we value human needs over monetary gain, to ensure decent standards of living without which effective democracy is impossible; [9] where we work together to protect the global environment to ensure that future generations will have safe and clean air, water and food supplies, and will be able to enjoy the beauty and bounty of nature that past generations have enjoyed.

The next step will be to develop a specific list of goals and demands. As one of the millions of people who are participating in the Occupy Wall Street movement, I would like to respectfully offer my suggestions of what we can all get behind now to wrestle the control of our country out of the hands of the 1% and place it squarely with the 99% majority.

Here is what I will propose to the General Assembly of Occupy Wall Street:

      10 Things We Want
A Proposal for Occupy Wall Street
      Submitted by Michael Moore
      1. Eradicate the Bush tax cuts for the rich and institute new taxes on the wealthiest Americans and on corporations, including a tax on all trading on Wall Street (where they currently pay 0%).

      2. Assess a penalty tax on any corporation that moves American jobs to other countries when that company is already making profits in America. Our jobs are the most important national treasure and they cannot be removed from the country simply because someone wants to make more money.

      3. Require that all Americans pay the same Social Security tax on all of their earnings (normally, the middle class pays about 6% of their income to Social Security; someone making $1 million a year pays about 0.6% (or 90% less than the average person). This law would simply make the rich pay what everyone else pays.

      4. Reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act, placing serious regulations on how business is conducted by Wall Street and the banks.

      5. Investigate the Crash of 2008, and bring to justice those who committed any crimes.

      6. Reorder our nation's spending priorities (including the ending of all foreign wars and their cost of over $2 billion a week). This will re-open libraries, reinstate band and art and civics classes in our schools, fix our roads and bridges and infrastructure, wire the entire country for 21st century internet, and support scientific research that improves our lives.

      7. Join the rest of the free world and create a single-payer, free and universal health care system that covers all Americans all of the time.

      8. Immediately reduce carbon emissions that are destroying the planet and discover ways to live without the oil that will be depleted and gone by the end of this century.

      9. Require corporations with more than 10,000 employees to restructure their board of directors so that 50% of its members are elected by the company’s workers. We can never have a real democracy as long as most people have no say in what happens at the place they spend most of their time: their job. (For any U.S. businesspeople freaking out at this idea because you think workers can't run a successful company: Germany has a law like this and it has helped to make Germany the world’s leading manufacturing exporter.)

      10. We, the people, must pass three constitutional amendments that will go a long way toward fixing the core problems we now have. These include:

      a) A constitutional amendment that fixes our broken electoral system by 1) completely removing campaign contributions from the political process; 2) requiring all elections to be publicly financed; 3) moving election day to the weekend to increase voter turnout; 4) making all Americans registered voters at the moment of their birth; 5) banning computerized voting and requiring that all elections take place on paper ballots.

      b) A constitutional amendment declaring that corporations are not people and do not have the constitutional rights of citizens. This amendment should also state that the interests of the general public and society must always come before the interests of corporations.

      c) A constitutional amendment that will act as a "second bill of rights" as proposed by President Frankin D. Roosevelt: that every American has a human right to employment, to health care, to a free and full education, to breathe clean air, drink clean water and eat safe food, and to be cared for with dignity and respect in their old age.

Let me know what you think. Occupy Wall Street enjoys the support of millions. It is a movement that cannot be stopped. Become part of it by sharing your thoughts with me or online (at OccupyWallSt.org). Get involved in (or start!) your own local Occupy movement. Make some noise. You don't have to pitch a tent in lower Manhattan to be an Occupier. You are one just by saying you are. This movement has no singular leader or spokesperson; every participant is a leader in their neighborhood, their school, their place of work. Each of you is a spokesperson to those whom you encounter. There are no dues to pay, no permission to seek in order to create an action.

We are but ten weeks old, yet we have already changed the national conversation. This is our moment, the one we've been hoping for, waiting for. If it's going to happen it has to happen now. Don't sit this one out. This is the real deal. This is it.

      Have a happy Thanksgiving!

      Yours,
      Michael Moore

I could hug you warnerbrother!! I'm a grandmother who has seen many years of elections and political party shananigans and I totally agree with you. This is the most unusual and the ugliest, scariest time I can ever remember. I am truly sickened by what the republican party has sunk to as well as the loss of backbone by my own party. The fact that these radical teaparty republican economic saboteurs are committed to demonstrably false and evil beliefs means that only the Deliverance Constituency can get through the selection process! This is indeed a crossroads for our nation and if we don't take up the standard of leadership and deny the right wingers any chance of winning, our nation will be destroyed. There are two battles running side by side. One is for political control of government, and the other involves deciding whether there should even be a government. When you have crazed ideologues in charge of a major political party, the outcome is a foreordained disaster. Most of us here know this and more are being enlightened daily.
the GOP cannot win an election without cheating. They have no ideas, (except to cut taxes and drag us back to the 18th Century), so all they can do is cheat and lie wherever possible.
This is not the party of Lincoln, TR, or even Nixon...it's the party of crap ideology born of Reagan, bloated by Bush and knocked up by the T party, the party that looted the Treasury, started wars of opportunity and is destroying the Constitution and the middle class. Miscreants all, and they need to be crushed into dust because they will stay on their current route of destruction!

I'm not the author of the following...it is from a blogger on the HP. It's something to ponder
      "This time in history requires
~constant effort and patience against the inertia of hate and fear
~ searching for the truth amongst an avalanche of falsehoods
~ belief in the correct course and not just the most common one
~ faith in oneself and the person beside you if help is required
~ motivation to make the world a better place once left
~ that the good of the whole is not relegatedto a select few
~ cannot be just spare but a portion equal that matters
~ that one man can make a difference
      ~ President Obama"

One Party MUST make the difference.....the Democratic Party must win in November...

I must add...I do believe President Obama has finally figured out that the GOP is never ever going to play nice with him and he has given them the boot. He is picking away the scab and revealing the gangrene that is the republican party and I am proud of him. I wish he had figured it out sooner but he is doing it now and people are waking up. I can see it all over the internet. So give him some credit. remember he is the only president to come up against the level of personal hatred and absolute obstruction by the opposing party. Warnerbrother, I can remember when Republicans DID compromise and DID work with Democrats.. It's not a Fairy Tale....it actually happened. I fully believe and have always believed Newt Gingrich was the birth mother of the current atmosphere in the house and senate today. When I hear him yap it seems like 1994 again!!!!
I am sending you a big grandma (((((((Hug)))))) warnrbrother for your eloquent post.

    • Bill, whats discouraging is, there is no one running against Obama on the Democratic ticket. Why not? Just because the man is an incumbent sitting President doesn't mean the position belongs to him for a second term. But with the same breathe, we should ask ourselves, if the man is as bad as some would have as believe, where is the DNC's choice to oppose him from the left? If the Republicans are as strong as they would like Democrats to believe, wouldn't the DNC push someone other then Obama? Either both parties are in bed with each other or the Republicans are full of horse chit! Both of which could be true!
Personally, I believe its time for all of them, with the exception of a few, to be thrown out with the trash. They're all in it for themselves, not the country and its citizens..

My dream is for a new Congress. My goal is to work at it! Imagine, a Congress who would take away Congressional pensions and health care from all past and present greedy, lazy, good for nothing political hacks.

Democrats will do their part in 2012 and remove many of the cheats and crooks, but I'm afraid, the right will continue electing the same crooks to office because they belief their crooks are good for the party and their personal portfolios !
Democrats have to throw out the trash and replace it with honest people with Democratic values! We need more choices not sad choices!

I agree that we do need better quality Democrats in Office, i.e., Alan Grayson and Elizabeth Warren to name two! But there are FUNDAMENTAL differences between the platforms of our two-party system. This video is from 2006, but the message remains the same.

I'd rather suffer a head cold than come down with a plague.

One is for unions...the other party is for destroying unions. And we all know there would not be a middle class today if it wasn't for unions fighting for worker rights and fair wages AND benefits!

Just imagine what this world would be like if we follow the Republicans' lead! No child labor laws, as Newt Ging(grinch) wants. No paid vacations, sick days, holiday, short term disability pay nor long term disablility benefits. No employer supported employee health or life insurance group policies. No OSHA to protect us from unsafe working conditions.

Several of he Republican Party's crackerjack candidates have PUBLICLY stated how they would end the Department of Labor, Education, Commerce, USDA, FDA, Health and Human Services and on and on.

Yet fellow commenters like CarlosBobthe3rd say we have only a choice of one evil versus a worse evil.

How sad that there are those that believe that hogwash. And even will promote that way of thinking.

We do and can change our Party for the better! All it takes is for us to get on the same page, so to speak.

But there's NOTHING we can do about the misguided folks who will support the Republican agenda to end all social programs simply because they are not willing to share this nation's wealth. The rich believe they can buy it out from under us. To them it belongs to the highest bidder.

I sure would like to see the windfall profits realized by all the oil, coal and natural gas that's in the ground of OUR country be used to support programs that benefit ALL of it's citizens...not just those who think they own it all by leasing an acre of oil-rich land for pennies on the dollar for 99 years!

Ot how a governor like Scott Walker who thinks it's in the best interest of Wisconsin to sell out the public utilities of that state to the Koch Brothers for pennies on the dollar without the public's knowledge, as one example!

Not to mention what the Republican Party wants to do to the public education system in America!

When you promote ignorance so as not to have an informed voting public, it makes it so much easier to steal from the public to give to the wealthy corporations, isn't it?

    • Great rant Buckeye. One thing I have learned since 2010 Is with all the presidents power, it is Congress that has the great power to help or not the president. It is in their power to help the middle class. Speaker Boehner and his house were elected to create jobs. This has not happened. The president's job plan would have created jobs, but again Congress has choose not to help him. The president still has the bully pulpit to inform the American people of the deadlock in Washington. I only hope the people listen to him.

When I listen to the Republican debates, I realize they are acting like clowns. If one of them takes the White House you can kiss the middle class and the safety nets they depend on goodbuy. I still have faith in him. Perhaps I have a few thing I wish he had done different, but his accomplishments have been good. At this moment one of his greatest is we are coming out of Iraq. Good post..

Totally agree sfirman. I may not approve of everything the President has done or not done , but anyone who believes they can achieve their progressive/liberal goals by sitting on their butts and allowing one of the clown show rethuglicans of the right to be elected, or by voting for a loser 3rd party candidate is delusional.
I will not turn over 70 years of liberal progress in civil rights and social progress to a fanatic right wing looney toon who wants to reverse the progress of the entire 20th Century.

I know you want president Obama to have a second term. I think he has gotten a grip on who he is, The PRESIDENT of the United States. I think he has learned that he can not change Washington and bipartisanship is a thing of the past. He can take Boehner and his teaparty house into a back room, beat the table, yell at them and they will never vote for his job's bill or any bill he wants passed. They will never vote to raise taxes on the wealthy. His power is not great enough to MAKE them help him and the middle class. His power is not only the bully pulpit, but his veto pen. When they pick the republican that will run against him, watch him give them a fight for the people

I will fight till my last breath with ANYONE that tells me either of the republicans running will do a better job. I don't want to spend what's left of my life listening to another GW or watch this country fall further as it did under Bush That's what I believe and I'm sticking to it!.

However, I do disagree that a President's hands are tied to a failed Republican bandwagon that is careening off a cliff to crash with a meaty thud when it hits bottom!

Mr. Obama needs to RIP a page out of the FDR playbook on, "How To Deal With Insane Republicans".
Many times throughout our political history the Republicans have been known as the "Do Nothing" Party!

In the ealry 1900s, Teddy Roosevelt left the Republican Party because of their desire to rape the land to further their greed to control the natural resources and drain all the wealth from the People's Treasures! In the early 1930s, The Republican Party wanted to promote the, "Every man for himself", while they took everything for themselves and left NOTHING for anyone else! FDR called them out on it and won election after election by the biggest margins in U.S. political history! In the mid to late 1940s, FDR and then Harry Truman fought tooth and nail against a "Do Nothing" Republican Party that wanted to drag the unions to the slaughter house. In the 19050s and 60s, Republicans and Southern Dixiecrats fought against desegregation and civil rights for all and tired as they might, to end Social Security and keep MediCare from coming into being. In the 1970s, the Republican Party nearly brought the nation to its knees by one oil crisis after another. And, does anyone remember how the price of oil went through the roof and oil companies made money hand over fist? Or how Nixon put price controls, along with freezing wages for government workers? The nation was frozen in place until President Jimmy Carter was made the fall guy for the calamitous policies of a Republican agenda that nearly destroyed the middle, working class. Anyone recall the Windfall Profit Tax and why it was implemented? And then Ronnie Reagan came along and began to dismantle unions right and left. His greatest achievement he used by doing this was the opening of our Southern Border so cheap labor could flood this nation that drove wages down to where women filled the workforce so their families could survive. But we all know wages paid to women were a fraction of what was expected of a single breadwinner to feed, house and clothe a family. George Herbert Walker Bush's presidency was just an extension of the failed Trickle Down Voodoo Economics policies of Ronald Reagan. Except he did wake up to the reality that this country was heading towards a financial crisis if he didn't raise taxes on the wealthy. Funny how no Republican today speaks kindly of GHW Bush's four years as Head of State! But then something happened. A Democrat was elected President! And for the next eight years this nation experienced the best growth measured in jobs and fair wages paid for jobs well done that we entered into a near Utopian way of life! Until George Bush the Lesser stole the 2000 elections and, what I still believe, rigged the 2004 elections that almost broke the financial back AND spirit of this nation! And now, the Republicans are crying foul because President Obama can't clean up the mess that George Walker Bush took eight long years to create? I doubt that the God all these Conservative Christians worship could fix what Bush and Company did to it, even if He had four more years to try!

And if I were Him, I think I would want a better class of worshippers following me!

Ah Buckeye you write so well and I know most of the history you are telling me As you say republicans seem to forget Reagan raised taxes on the rich, but he did not sigh a stupid pledge not to do that. yes we had a great economy under President Clinton and if President Obama had come into office after him he may be a great president. But it was GW that gave him the very hard job of cleaning up after him. Then came 2010 FDR was a great president but it was a different time. President Obama was not elected as a FDR and will never be like him. I remember when they tried to change Al Gore into someting he could not be .I wish I could go on but it's 3:30 AM and I have a long journey tomorrow.President Obama was given a great gift. He can speak, debate and inspire. There was a time when I hoped in my life time their would be a women president..I choose my wish over Hillery for Barack Obama. Have a nice day. .

Yes, I wish Mr. Obama had been given a clean slate to have written his own mark on the kind of presidency he will be remembered for in history books of the future looking back in time.

I agree that President Obama wasn't elected to be an FDR, Jr., but the times dictate how a leader responds to events as they unfold! And isn't it obvious how Republicans are acting EXACTLY the same as thery were in past Democratic administrations? They do have an uncanny ability to turn the clock back to times past. They actually live much of their present reliving their past beliefs thinking how things were so much better then. For them perhaps, since there were less regulations on private businesses. But that only brought about an environment whose air, water and soil was so polluted, civil rights denied to everyone but the prrivileged few and workplaces had no laws to prevent tragedies like the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory from ever happening! But, give Newt Gin(Grinch) the opportunity to open a business where he could find work for young people to work dirt cheap and he would jump at the chance today!

They want to go back to a time when, as John McCain discussed with Whoopi Goldberg on the View Show, the Constitution permitted human slavery. "Give me that good Ol' Constitution! If It was good enough for Jefferson, it's good enough for me!", sings the 21st Century Republicans!

      Think Sally Hemings.

And I do not see why Mr. Obama couldn't apply some of the tactics that FDR used to play the Republicans like a fiddle, especially since it worked and FDR got millions of people WORKING again! It worked once and if I were a wagering man I'd say those same policies will work again. And since the Republicans are using the same playbook from that time, so like in a football game with circles and arrows of what their next play will be, Mr. Obama can cut them off at the path! They're "creatures of habit". Piss-poor I might add!

After all, FDR's "gameplan" is tried and true! And just as the video suggests how the Social Security Act would become an historical event for all time, he could never imagine that the Republicans have been doing all they can to have it repealed ever since! And they are closer now than at any time in modern history! If we let our collective guard down, they will succeed. Then we will have no one to blame but ourselves!

      Just sayin'....

    • Helping the Obama get elected was my first real experience in politics. The thing I learned the most was that for them it's more a game and for us it's real life. It baffled me how they could become friends after the things that got said. It's like in Hockey where guys fight for the camera instead out of passion. Most of the fan's think it's real and it puts asses in the seats.

The other thing I learned is you don't win the big election by being on either extreme. You win by being more near the middle than your opponent. After an election you can get an extreme legislation passed if enough citizen noisemakers rattle the capitol hill cages, but your team has to win first.

He really pissed me off by extending the Bush tax shell game (cuts). He pissed me off with the continuation of the Patriot act. He pissed me off by not being harder on BP. I hate his legislative "goal-line-D" strategy. It's bullshit what his people are doing to help crush the occupy movement. If he can't control his staff because he tried to get too bi-partisoned then he better show me it's different or I may stay home on Super Tuesday.

I have been like this before though since 2008 and he generally comes through. I say the jury is still out, but the evidence is mounting.

In my darkest time when there was a black-out in my neighborhood he remained calm and collected as if he didn't even know what had occurred, thank you Mr. President because of you I didn't panic the 34 minutes I could not watch albino midget porn on the net.

When it's cold outside President Obama wears his pants. He has to deal with DC incompetence every day, some if not most of it is designed to derail his efforts----did he panic or plunge the nation into war when he faced the worst diplomatic catastrophe not long ago? Yes when he was having dinner with a delegation of chinese officials and one of them talking fast got some spittle on the President's lapel. Did he launched nukes, like most of us would have, did he give the guy a wedgie? No he pointed into the distance and yelled " there goes Bush" and cleaned his lapel while they like suckers said "where, where is bushie?" He is the consummate statesman.

BTW, I want Mr. Obama to pull up his "Big Boy Pants" and get 'er done...like YESTERDAY!

Why hasn't he come to the aid of the protesters that are inhabiting cities and towns from one end of this country to the other? At the VERY least say SOMETHING about those of us who have spent time and energy marching and carrying our signs!

One word from OUR President could turn the tide to OUR favor!

I have reservations as to what his stance is on the OWS Movement! Oh, he mentioned it as if it was a "hiccup" of social disorder for some obscure reason or another. He, like MOST of the politicians are staying away from speaking about the frustrations that is being felt by so many, i.e., no jobs, prices for the basics rising through the roof...if you're lucky to have one over you and your family's head!

The Rethuglican Party and their minions that are running to replace him show no fear of reprisal for their inane remarks about protesters needing a bath and go find a job...like where in America does Mr. Obama, Congress and the Fixed Noise Propaganda machine think these jobs exist? ONLY in their minds, I tell you! And their minds are so small and disconnected from reality that I would laugh if it WAS funny....but if you're looking....no BEGGING for work, you don't have the patience to laugh at their total lack of compassion for those that NEED a job! And now we are faced with the loss of even MORE jobs by way of the United States Post Office's new "plan" to save money by laying off over tens of thousands of employees and what's House Speaker Boehner's idea to address the deficit? Why laying off another 200,000 Federal employees, ten per cent of the total government workforce and freezing the pay of those that are left with a job! AND to break the backs of unions that do give a chitola about the working class. For without unions, there would never have been a middle class in the first place!

What was the Republican Party's "promise"? To be the best dang "job creators" we the people have ever voted into Office a year ago? Liars everyone of them!

About the only jobs they have created is the need for more employees at the unemployment offices around the country to handle the influx of the huge numbers of the newly unemployed that are lining up for the few checks they will receive after being kicked to the curb! And many states have reduced the number of UI checks and in one they will receive up to 20 weeks and then they will be in the same boat as the millions that will not be getting UI checks after their benefits run out in the next few weeks! Quite a few states have reduced the amount of those checks paid out in UI benefits, too! http://hrstrategiesblog.com/2011/09/22/state-unemployment-insurance-in-2011-%E2%...

And the kick in the gut from the Republican Party is to cut the Federal Food Program funds, just because they think there's some imaginary lottery winner who is receiving imaginary food stamps somewhere in Pondunk, PA!

From an article in Rolling Stone: Taken together, the Bush years exposed the bankruptcy behind the theory that tax cuts for the rich will spur economic growth. "Let the rich get richer and everybody will benefit?" says Stiglitz. "That, empirically, is wrong. It's a philosophy of trickle-down economics that's belied by the facts." Bush and Cheney proved once and for all that tax cuts for the wealthy produce only two things: "lower growth and greater inequality."

The GOP's frenzied handouts to the rich during the Bush era coincided with the weakest economic expansion since World War II – and the only one in modern American history in which the wages of working families actually fell and poverty increased. And what little expansion there was under Bush culminated in the worst fiscal crisis since the Great Depression. "The wreckage was left by Dick Cheney, Grover Norquist and the gang," says Chafee. "This was their doing."

An education is a wonderful thing, try it. You wouldn't believe how different the world looks with a little knowledge. OOOPS. The rethugs cut all the funding....guess you'll have to stay uninformed.

      Whaaaaaaaaaa?

I have been out marching with my little sign that reads, "Look For The Union Label!".

I'm dancing as fast as I can. I write, email and call my state and federal representatives to the point they recognise my voice on the phone and they have ceased returning acknowledgements when they receive either my emails or correspondence via snail mail.

I do believe they have removed me from their mailing lists as to not encourage my responses they know is coming.

I bitch and complain until their ears bleed.

And what, M'Lady, have you done lately?

      Just curious....

    • Good to see you up and running Bill. Don't let em get you down. Love your humor and passion.

Regarding our prez., take heart! Remember the old story about Franklin Roosevelt telling labor leaders who wanted him to implement some progressive ideas. He told them: "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it."

Mr. Obama needs a "political soul transfusion" to become more like FDR!

      STAT!

And President Roosevelt while being in a wheelchair kicked more Republican "hiney" from a sitting position than the present President that can make jump shots on a basketball court!

      NLOL

But I have no doubt Mr. Obama is getting some practice in and will be ready to plant his presidential patent leathers up some Republican rear ends real soon!

When he moves back to Chicago next year, he can hang out with Bill Ayers again and plot the next bomb throwing. That'll toughen him up. Or maybe do some more community aggitation. I have not seen any evidence that metro-sexual in the White House has any testosterone at all.

    • I'm back from the protest I have been "occupying" against Current's lack of support for those who have been the targets of trolls and sock puppets that infest this site to spread their hate and discontent against us who support the Democratic Party. Actually, I have been "De-Occupying" Current's site by not posting threads, comments or generally clicking on links that generate revenue for this website. I don't know if my actions were felt by those who are the "bean counters" that have their fingers on the purse strings that know how much is being made off my participation by visitng this site and by my viewing their opo-ups is supporting Current by their advertisers' contributions to this site's bottom line.

Perhaps my lack of clicking on the advertisements prevented a tingle from going up their financial "leg", or perhaps not. One never knows how much they add to or take away from the overall picture by not playing a part in the economic games of online sites such as Current.

Truth be known, Current most likely didn't miss me one iota! "Buckeye_Bill who?", says Current's "pocketbook".

But I do know that if enough pebbles are dropped into a box, there will come a time when that box will be too heavy to lift, or in others words, too "big to ignore"!

I dropped my pebble into the "box" these past few days and registered my outrage the only way I could.

And upon my return I've noticed the pop-ups have become even more invasive!

Commercialism...can't live with it, Current can't seem to survive without it!

That's life in the 21st Century of the Online World!

      Pay to play!
