It seems Tampa Police got their Christmas gifts early. This tank was brought out late November to "deal with about a dozen 'Occupy' protestors." Is this really how we want our government to respond to peaceful protestors, regardless of their message?
Part of the Occupy message would definitely have to do with the growth of a Police State in this supposed peaceful and freedom loving country. Bringing out a tank only strengthens the legitimacy of the Occupy Movement.

Another reason to cut the Defense Dept.'s budget in half. If they can afford to hand over equipment for free, when our guys in the field don't have this stuff, then I guess we don't need such a humungus Defense budget…. What about that Posse Committals?

Isn't it comforting to know the Pentagon, with all it's enormous spending power, can just throw its military equipment out to the local cities in America for Free? What pray tell is the local police going to do with this stuff? I mean, I have a good idea, but seriously, what is their goal with all of this?
