The saddest part is that if the dog had survived, there would be no petition for you to sign.
The torture of an innocent dog is not something that people would have even bother writing up a petition for.
If the dog hadn't died, no one would have cared enough.
That's the saddest part.

There's no way I wouldn't have signed a petition -- perhaps even been the one to draw UP such a petition -- even if poor Vucko COULD have survived. We're talking about ABUSE. We're talking about CRUELTY. We're talking about ANIMAL cruelty. We're talking about humans who think they're better than any other sentient being. We're talking about VIOLENCE. We're talking about a whole lot more.

I'm all about humane education. And I do think there would have been a petition against those who tortured Vucko, I really do. I continue to have faith in SOME caring humans.

The "saddest part," for me, is that this happened, and that it continues to happen. And I sure am sorry Vucko had to suffer such unending torture.

Every "abused animal" petition i've ever seen have been stories about dogs that have been tortured to death.
This is probably because the instances of people abusing dogs are too numerous to mention, while the instance of people killing dogs, while by no means extraordinary, is still just barely rare enough to write something about almost each time it happens, or at least MOST of the times it happens.
If someone wrote up every incident of someone abusing a dog in such a manner that, were it a person, they would spend the majority of the rest of their natural lifetime in prison, there would very little time left over in each day for such a person to be able to manage to ever do very much of anything else.

Do youreally think you would have even HEARD of the name "Vucko" if he hadn't been a dog tortured to death, but had instead been just another abused dog?

If he hadn't been tortured to death, what would make Vucko special among all of the other dogs that are tortured and brutalized all over the country, and all over the world, each and every single day of every week of every month of every year?

Ah, I guess I should have understood that you don't know me. I am deeply involved in animal rights and animal rescue, and especially rescuing those who have been tortured, abused, etc. So I am on this EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE.

There isn't a cow or a duck or a horse or a cat or a bird or a snake or a dolphin or a seal or a bear or a dog or a rooster for whom I wouldn't do the very same thing. And I DO do the very same thing. It's only just once in a while that I find the time to post something on Current.

Hope that better explains that I'm an individual, and so I am speaking primarily for myself. But there are thousands and thousands more who also care that much. You and I just travel, perhaps, in different circles (so to speak).

Bottom line: Vucko ISN'T special. Vucko is yet another tragic example of the horrors that go on day in and day out around the world. So his story came out publicly here in Current. My heart goes out to every single sentient being who has been, or may be, hurt.
