Fahrenheit 9/11 was key to me moving out of the US. I used to stop debates with war mongering idiots after the movie by telling them to put the money where their mouth was. I will give them 100 dollars if they can find a lie that is not backed by 2 sources...and I let them pick one. They went uh and um.....then I would ask them what they know about the Nuremberg Trials or the Geneva Convention and I would get back a blank stare. Idiots in the US argue issues they don't understand and do no critical thinking on their own. It was so right that standing up against the war then was like arguing with monkey over what a banana really is.... Idiot Americans are just friggin' sheeple and get what they deserve. I cannot think of one thing he has been wrong about. Even now, he is no Obama cheerleader anymore either.
Dear Mike,
Without your films I would still think I am the only sane person in the US. Come to find out moving was the best option because STUPID AMERICANS, like the ones you described, would say "If you don't like the US then leave" so I did.....thank god!!!! - 6 months ago

I did have to get rid of everything and start over but it was worth it. For instance, the biggest U-haul trucks in the US anyone can drive, here you need a special license. I can only rent the "1 room" moving trucks with a regular license. Wrong thread for this ...... message me direct if you need any advice or help.....that includes anyone reading. There is a big difference between being stupid and being ignorant.
One can not help being stupid. Stupid is a matter of a low I.Q.
But being ignorant is different. Ignorance is when you're smart enough to know that you're being a dumb shit but simply ignore this fact.
Thus the dilemma of the GOP. - 6 months ago

I dislike Moore's public persona and I dread the drama, the cheap tactics and hyperbole in his films. But his influence as an investigative journalist cannot be denied. He put a lot of the current issues, especially healthcare, into policy spotlight.
People shit on every one of his movies to the extent that they can barely be brought up in casual conversation. But they all point out something both painfully obvious and irrefutable, yet never discussed.
What he said in that Oscar speech was true and the things he predicted in his movies all did end up happening. He is an asshole, but what people attacked him for then are considered basic facts now.
If you can just block out the dumb parts of his movies (the abusive interviews etc.), you'll find real important things no one else really dares to say publicly.

What I find interesting with Moore's films is that he actually has the target audience nailed; or at least he's trying a different tactic than we.
The mainstream republic/conservative population feeds off of this sarcastic, bully, hypobolic, sensational, quick-remark material. The very core issues Moore brings up are established facts for the most part, he just packages them for a crowd that isn't used to academic documentaries. They're catchy, appealing, and target emotions—just like FOX news...
He is smeared so much because he honestly could have a substantial amount of influence.

Great post. As many of you probably know, I'm pretty conservative at least fiscally and constitutionally speaking, but I've always supported Michael Moore. He's honest. He stands up for things that are in the interests of everybody, left, right, in between, or apathetic. It seems so strange to see him booed for telling the truth in 2003. I remember when I had to finally just shut up back then after voicing my opinion (too publicly for most) that I thought the wars were bullshit and we were being lied into them. Frankly it was hard. I applaud Michael Moore for saying what he said, though very unpopular at the time. It made me feel better that I wasn't alone. Now, to say what he said is easy. Everyone wants to pretend they were against it from the start. We need more Michael Moores and Bernie Sanders' in the world, not because they are politically left but because they are truth tellers. We need truth more than any other philosophy.

Good post. Thanks.
I recognize this as a MM hit piece either produced or forwarded by Alex Jones. Too bad but expected. I listen to him quite a bit though the shock-jock, everything-is-a-conspiracy style can be a bit overbearing. Likewise Jesse Ventura. Still, his fact gathering is pretty good. I'm fine with him at point A (the facts) but can't hang with him all the way through his rants. His strict Libertarian ideology gets in his way. Not in my way, in his way.
Jones never misses a chance to slam MM. Purely ideological. Again too bad. They both make virtually identical points about many issues. Much of what OWS represents has been an integral part of AJ's rant for years. Then OWS got real and he switched to calling them misguided and proper focus should be the Fed. Fine; we're not happy with them either. But AJ can't be caught dead even remotely agreeing with the dirty hippies. Bad for survivalist/Libertarian business. And it is a business by the way. He seems to be doing okay with his little shtick.
I'm not here to defend MM. He hardly needs that from me. I would point out, though, that his ideology has been consistent for the 20 years or so that I've followed his work. Nothing new here. Nothing opportunistic here. Would you feel better if he was a broke dirty hippy so you could dismiss him for that?
Finally, I haven't seen too many people around here who need to be told how to think. All we've got from you is a contrived hit piece from youtube and the contention that someone is an idiot who obviously isn't. Is that it? - 6 months ago

Well, stupid is a pretty crude word. I'd cut them a break and settle for clueless. Hasn't it already been shown that Fox watchers are less well informed than those who watch NO news at all?
Why does Moore get threats? Easy. He's out front, an easy target, and he's a progressive. Then there's our societal prejudice toward heavy people. Now the far right doesn't know what "progressive" really means. They just know that progressive means liberal which means socialist which means communist which means atheist which means Evil. It's the word association that's been drilled into them for years. That cultivated thinking awakens within the right, especially the christian right, the most awesome motivator of all...... righteousness.... and it's a killer. See: Anders Behring Breivik for the case study.MM is right to take the threats seriously. It only takes one wacko.

Your making me blush! With the new job and it being a graveyard shift, it gets difficult sometimes to post or even answer comments! Thanks! :)

Mike worked the graveyard shift most of the 30 years he worked -- he still hasn't recovered from it as he usually wakes up around 9/10 and watches tv most of the night. Graveyard shift is hard -- hope you don't have to work it too long, but it is better than not working at all, isn't it? You have a great week-end Kenny :-)!

Thanks, I always seem to run out of weekend. Tell Mike good on him for putting up with it for 30 years. I like your saying about the 99%.
