Obama Administration Promises (Again) Not to Wage War on Medical Marijuana

Ever since the federal government announced a major crackdown on medical marijuana cultivators and dispensaries in California, a lot of people have been wondering what the hell Barack Obama is thinking. Message boards for medical marijuana activists in the state have been abuzz with one-time Obama supporters swearing allegiance to Ron Paul, who supports legalization, and expressing outrage at Obama's perceived betrayal of their cause.

After all, the Prez smoked weed in college and unlike certain would-be non-inhalers wasn't afraid to admit this fact during his 2008 campaign for the White House.

And then there was the fact that Obama's hand-picked law enforcement chief, Eric Holder, promised back in 2009 that his Justice Department would not waste resources prosecuting marijuana cases in states like California that have passed voter initiatives allowing residents to smoke pot for medicinal use.

So, given the huge outcry in the wake of this fall's crackdown, it's no surprise that Holder is now trying to soothe the masses with more sweet-talk. Specifically, in a hearing on Capitol Hill yesterday pertaining to the feds' disastrous program of providing automatic rifles to the Mexican cartels in the lame attempt to trace the weapons (which ended up being used to massacre cops south of the border), Holder reiterated the Obama administration's support of the so-called Ogden Memo from 2009, which declared fighting voter-approved medical marijuana to be the feds' lowest priority in the war on drugs.

"What we said in the memo we still intend, which is that given the limited resources that we have, and if there are states that have medical marijuana provisions . . . if in fact people are not using the policy decision that we have made to use marijuana in a way that's not consistent with the state statute, we will not use our limited resources in that way," Holder stated. The operative phrase in Holder's somewhat vague statement is "consistent with state law."

Given the fact that state law, as it applies to medical marijuana, is full of inconsistencies and gray areas, those four words amount to a huge loophole that the Obama administration can use to justify prosecuting any marijuana grower or dispensary that happens to end up its cross-hairs. Since the feds' recent crackdown, landlords who rent to marijuana growers or dispensaries throughout the state have received letters threatening seizure of their property, including Yousef Ibrahim, who had been renting to several cannabis clubs in Lake Forest before evicting them and filing for bankruptcy.

Suffice it to say that these letters invalidate everything Holder has said about Obama's policy up to now, and that time is running out for the president to win back the stoner demographic before November 2012.

    • Obama, does this thread suggest that the public is aware that you are protecting alcohol and pharmaceutical profits, while simultaneously filling corporate jails and prisons for your crony's profits? Take note, a Pennsylvania judge recently went to prison for doing the same thing you are doing. Do you think the People will not sentence you to more when your judgement comes? The Public will have accountability in the end. Crimes against humanity; which your fostering of such egregious injustice is, will have their recompense. Enjoy the view while there are not bars before it.

    • More proof he's gearing up for re-election. Obama will never stop waging war on pot and Holder is a corporate whore. Any questions?

That's a fact. I saw Juliana Margolis on somelate night talk show once. She
traveled to Australia in the Southern Hemisphere, and mentioned when she
flushed a toilet there the water rotated counterclockwise ( right to left ).

I've no doubt that H.R.Rep Paul from Texas is the only genuine
Republican of the entire 8 contenders for their party nomination.
But the Republicans are only a shadow of their former selves since
the Corporatists' .01% have dominated & unduely influenced them
for over a century. They posed such Titanic extreme problems to
Theodore Roosevelt after their minions had assasinated Lincoln
who propelled their party, that the Corporatists would not want him
to get the nomination. We've seen Capital Cities' ABC network's
puppet's laugh in Mr.Paul's face telling him he could never win like
the hare did to the tortoise. Of all the commercial networks, ABC,
has to be the worst of all of them. They use their .01% icons like
Oprah Winfrey to advertise for and support the very Racketeer
Influenced Corrupt Organizations like WSYR TV which involve
them in a Billion dollar annual Enterprise Corruption Racket in
the exact same way the Prison Industrial Complex' $2.3 Billion
annual income from Prohibition would never allow Holder to stop
persecuting medical MJ health care providers.

Holder works for the mutual interests of the Prison Industrial Com
plex & Big Pharma, a Trillion dollar annual business, & Organized
crime whose profits are incalculable beyond Trillions. The cartels
make 100-1000 times more profit by ensuring MJ Prohibition stands,
as Big Pharma does. When you consider the latter 2 of 3 alone pull
in much more than $2.3 Trillion each year, more than the IRS itself
collects., then you understand what's pulling Holder's strings. Holder
also benefits personaly by allowing the DEA to persecute medical
MJ providers. Holder's a career politician who's gone as far as he
can go in Government. Short of running for office, or being appointed
after Congressional review, Holder has only general counsel prospects
for his next job available in one of the Big Pharma Corporations. It's
exactly this conflict of interest that's serious enough to get lawyers
disbarred from practicing law whether they take Bribes to accept
being on others' payrolls & the U.S.Treasury payroll simultaneously.
Don't forget it took a group of Congressmen filing a protest with the
president to complain about Holder's DEA to make Obama regurgitate
this. It was Nixon who created the DEA. It's corrupt as the FBI is also.
I blogged a news article here on Current.com only days ago exposing
that DEA corruption as supporting the drug cartels. The U.S. provides
local law enforcement with huge block grants for highest quotas on
their drug busts. And since Reagan they've been taking others property
involved in the trafficking of drugs, which they auction off. They all want
their " piece of the action " Their hypocrisy is nauseasting. As if they're
motivated to make restitution to all the innocent law abiding citizens they've
raided. It would be like Baron Von Frankenstein tweaking his monster
by the ear, and forcing him to apologize to his victims. As if.

I would really like to see Obama get rid of Holder. I do think that he is starting to feel the pressure of the protests and is considering a left turn on the issue. Do you think that it is possible Before the next election?
      Great comment btw.

Thanks. No, I doubt that. I don't mean to be trite and stereotype anyone.
That would only cheapen my sense of integrity. There's a saying though,
that birds of a feather flock together. Obama has so many retreads from
the Clinton administration, even Clinton herself there, that Holder seems
not to be a concern. Anyone who'd recommend a crook like Muller, who
was Hitler Bush's choice, would believe any line of shit the FBI sold him.
The FBI like Holder because he's their patsy too. Holder is a male Janet
      Reno.

The richest man of the "unlisted Club" doesn't list his assets out of family custom. He has Multi- trillions. Is estimated to own half the world's wealth.

He has the initials of J. R. with a "title" before his name. Figure out who he is and research his family and you'll go down a rabbit hole you'll never forget.

It's your business, but you sure gave up without firing a shot. I was
forced to because of lack of honest contacts, lack of money, and I
knew I'd be going into a driving job in which they'd want me to be
drug free. But I wouldn't do that for anyone in this world, otherwise.
I didn't do it for my parents, so I wouldn't do it for anyone else. I can't
wait to get to Amsterdam on a tourist visa, and apply for resident
foreign alien status. It's too expensive to live in Amsterdam for the
average person. But I do want to become a dual national of the
Netherlands, live there at least 6 months of the year, Obviously
having liberal customs is only one of many reasons why.

Ahh man I grew my own for a few years just because they said I couldn't. I've only quit for a a few months now not like it's been years. I plan on smoking again. I'm just not going back to smoking the Mexican weed. I need to either find some good seed stock and start my own again or find another local grower that has extra to get rid of.. I'm not going to support the mexican drug cartels anymore. I wish you the best in getting to Amsterdam send me some seeds when ya get there :)
